Default What's the CREEPIEST horror movie you've ever seen?

Loosely based om jigsaw42's "crappiest-horror-movie"-thread, couldn't find a thread on this subject specifically

So, what's the creepiest, eeriest, scariest horror film you've ever seen???
For me it's definitely more about strong characters, good story and atmosphere, not slash'n'gore.

Mine, so far:

The Orphanage
The Others
Blair Witch Project (first viewing)
The Shining
The Grudge (American remake, in cinema)

Looks like ghosts hit my weak spot Feel also free to recommend me more films in the same style...

Jacob's Ladder creeps me out, so does the beginning and end of the original When A Stranger Calls (But I think this is largely in part cause I saw it when I was younger and it scared the shit out of me). Really most films don't scare me......

I would say the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The first time I saw it I was pretty disturbed, the same with I Spit On Your Grave, those just creeped me out

The Shining was surely creepy as hell, and The Blair Witch Project was a little creepy on 1st viewing, (little stupid too) but the other three? Good god, The Grudge was awful.

For creep factor, I think of:

The Shining
The Ring
The Exorcist
Halloween
Event Horizon

They live. It was a great fun movie, but could you imagine if our world was like that? The first halloween, and the ending of sleepaway camp.
