[Toys] NECA Announces Hicks, Possible New Queen

Published

on

Even though the New York Toy Fair has come to an end, NECA continues to announce a rash of shocking new products.

While we already knew a Prometheus line was on the way, along with a new “Warrior Alien” from Aliens, details were beyond slim.

This weekend NECA took to their official website to clarify said reveals, while also announcing that we’ll finally get a Corporal Dwayne Hicks along with another soon-to-be-announced Colonial Marine! They also reveal that a Queen Alien could be in the works for 2013.

Even with all of this, I don’t understand why we still don’t have any Ellen Ripley figures? I mean, Mattel just announced a Dana figure for their Ghostbusters line, therefore she’s willing to share her likeness… Via NECA:

“Xenomorphs have been around us for over 30 years now. Many iterations have taken this aggressive race to become icons of Horror, Suspense, and even Adventure, and as so, caused many folks with an acute taste to want these creatures in their collections.

NECA’s made several Alien action figures from almost all of the films in the franchise, including the most recent Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem. This year we’re bringing even more figures, and we wanted to answer a few of your questions.

New Aliens Warrior Action Figure: From James Cameron’s Aliens film, we’re releasing an all new Warrior figure with removable limbs, fully articulated, and about 9″ tall.

The Two Colonial Marines: Aboard the warship Sulaco, Ripley is introduced to a team of Colonial Marines, one of which is Corporal Dwayne Hicks. This year we’ll bring Hicks to life, fully articulated, at about 7″ tall, along with another Colonial Marine, which we’re not yet ready to reveal the identity of.

You can expect the Warrior Aliens to have clean and battle damaged versions and both blue and brown highlights for variety when army building your hive.

1/4 Scale Original Alien Figure: From the 1979 original Ridley Scott film, we’re preparing a release of the 1/4 scale Alien figure. This is the classic Xeno, with the clear dome. Yes – a gorgeously gross Classic Alien that stands over 22 inches tall and is fully articulated.

We’ve done a Classic Alien 18-Inch Action Figure in the past, so expect improvements including the enormous figure packaged fully assembled, and this Xeno will have new and improved deco over the original release from 2008.

About The Alien Queen Action Figure: Hey, we love the Queen, too. She’s one of the scariest, meanest looking creatures in film history. But currently she’s only in our wishlists. There’s a slight possibility we’ll get to her in 2013, but there’s nothing confirmed yet. One of the reasons we’re not getting to the Queen this year is because…

A Prometheus Line Is Coming Up This Summer: We’re extremely excited about the upcoming film from Ridley Scott and have our hands full with a new line of figures. We’ll probably be able to show some Prometheus sculpts by the end of June.

Future For The Lines: We asked on Facebook and Google+ what fans wanted to know about the license, and a lot of the questions were about its continuity, if we’re doing a full set of Colonials, etc. Honestly, it all depends on how well sales go and what our production schedule permits. We are very excited to finally bring you Colonial Marines from Aliens, and we hope to bring you a Queen in 2013.

‘Ready or Not’: Radio Silence Filmmakers Tease the “Absolute Banger” of a Sequel That’s Taking Shape

It was first reported a couple weeks ago that Ready or Not 2 is now in development, with Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Insidious: The Last Key, Escape Room, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions) in talks to direct the sequel to the 2019 box office hit. Additionally, we had learned that Samara Weaving would be returning to star.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Ready or Not directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin in the wake of those reports, and we’ve now got an update straight from the source.

“It’s getting figured out. That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out,” Gillett tells EW, confirming last month’s report. “What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute fucking banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening.”

“I don’t think we knew after making [Ready or Not] that there would be so much story left to tell,” Gillett continues. “We’re so proud of what that first movie is, we’re so proud of what the sequel is. We’re just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made.” Bettinelli-Olpin adds, “And with Searchlight and Samara, they’re not gonna let it down.”

The first film introduced a mythology wherein the wealthy Le Domas family has made a deal with the devil, one that requires them to take part in bizarre – and deadly – wedding night traditions. There’s much that can be done with the premise going forward, even if the first movie ended with Weaving’s Grace massacring the family and burning down their estate.

Wikipedia reminds, “The sole survivor of the night, Grace walks out of the burning manor just as the police arrive. Upon asking her what happened, she simply replies: in-laws.”
