Exit Humanity

Bloody Disgusting is pleased to announce the U.S. acquisition of John Geddes’ post-apocalyptic Exit Humanity for DVD and VOD release as part of its Bloody Disgusting Selects film series.

It portrays a young man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of an undead outbreak during the American Civil War. Heavily inspired by classic films such as Jeremiah Johnson and The Outlaw Josey Wales, Exit Humanity is a poetic tale told through the journal entries of its protagonist Edward Young.

The Canadian feature blends live-action and animation to explore deeper themes of fear, hope, redemption, and evil.

Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, The Watchmen, 300), and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. Brian Cox provides narration.

You’ll find the trailer inside with our image gallery here, and more at the official Facebook and website. How does a man deal with the loss of everything meaningful in his life, and the loss of mankind’s humanity amongst chaos and despair? Set in 1870’s Tennessee, Exit Humanity is the legend of Edward Young’s horrific and dramatic journey through an unexplainable outbreak of the walking dead to lay to rest the most important thing in his life, his son’s ashes. The bleak post-Civil War era backdrop highlights the severe divide that the United States was facing, and the true loss of hope that so many felt during this period in history.

Euro-Schock Cult Classic ‘Der Fan’ Gets First U.S. Theatrical Release With New 4K Restoration

Der Fan

Fun City Editions is bringing a rare ’80s Euroshocker to U.S. theaters for the very first time, thanks to a new 4K restoration.

The restoration of 1982’s Der Fan, aka Trance, will premiere at the Metrograph theater in NYC on August 28.

In the film, “The hero-worship that Simone has for a pop singer is built to a crescendo until she passes out when she finally sees him up close in a crowd of fans. She is later shocked when he lets her know that he does not love her.”

Der Fan, written and directed by Eckhart Schmidt, stars Désirée Nosbusch as Simone and Bodo Staiger as “R”, the object of Simone’s desire.

Staiger, as frontman for new wave group Rheingold, also provided the film’s score.

Without giving anything away, it’s the shocking third act that sets Der Fan apart and earned its cult status. Much like Takashi Miike’s Audition, it’s an assuming feature that hides its visceral horror side until a jaw-dropping finale.

Fun City Editions announced the restoration’s premiere on socials, with promises to reveal further details closer to its August date.

That also includes additional theatrical screening locations, so stay tuned.
