Mayday's review of the book "Snow"

Posted 08-08-2010 at 01:41 PM by Mayday
Welcome to my blog. Not sure how many people utilize or bother to read these, but I figured, what the hey. I'll give it a shot and post some reviews, since BD is FINALLY attempting to get into the book review game.

I apologize that my first entries are not the best writing of which I am capable. I mostly wrote them on the fly without my usual going back and editing the hell out of them until they're better, but hopefully you'll like them enough as is.

And if you do...

#2 - Sick Girl by Lucky McKee

Posted 08-08-2010 at 01:58 AM by TigerJ.K.
Bah. I said I would only do one film a night but I decided to watch another. Slow night I guess. Anywho, I've officially decided to finish the Masters of Horror series from Showtime as some of the first movies on this oh so magical journey and my second film is Sick Girl.

Those of you who have watched May will definitely recognize the overall feel of the movie. It is slightly different but the end result does feel somewhat familiar. Angela Bettis totally freaked me out with the way...

A Proper Introduction

Posted 08-06-2010 at 08:32 PM by JasonAhlquist
I know that I've cheated a bit and posted a few things in this part of my blog before setting them up with a proper introduction. So let's fix that here.
My name is Jason Ahlquist, if you've heard it before, you are one of the few. I used to write for and run MarsDust.com, a webzine that focused on Sci-fi, horror and fantasy fandom. Even though the Sci-Fi (now SyFy) channel once called us the "future of online fandom" and we got favorable reviews from some of the bigger genre print...

Rules of a horror film!

Posted 08-05-2010 at 01:27 PM by GoreHoundess
So again I was pondering the various attributes films of the horror genre carry and one film seemed to list the key RULES. I am of course talking about SCREAM. I mean, who doesn't just love David Arquette' s hokey acting? Brilliant. But for all of us horror connoisseurs what are the key elements to a good horror? So I think it's time for my top 10!
1. A good cast.
2. A good script.
3. A memorable killer/killers/substance/monster or beast.
4. A painful kill that makes

Hello Clarice...

Posted 08-03-2010 at 07:14 AM by GoreHoundess
While the name of this blog probably has little to do with the actual writing, I like my little jokey titles.

Anyway! So I was pondering the other day about the kind of things that make a good horror film.
For me, I like a little justice, thrown in a little dark humour, with a nice bit of gore to sink your teeth into and a good cast!

I recently watched Quarantine. (No not the Red Dwarf episode - although that is hilarious!) Noo, I'm talking about the
