I personally liked this movie, it was not at all perfect but it was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

Posted By: Verbal Kint at 8:15pm, November 6, 2009

This flick is average at best. Alligator from 1980 is way better.

Posted By: CountOrlok at 3:11am, October 25, 2009

I saw this film in theatres and it was kind of average for me.

Firstly, I didn't like the characters - there's the American dude who's only there to sell the film to a US market, then there's a jerk ex-boyfriend, a possible love interest/damsel in distress...... pretty boring.

Now the crocodile effects were extremely good, the movie was quite tense at times but I didn't feel it offered anything new in this 'animal attack' genre.

Decent but nothing to rave about or anything.

the best crocodile movie i've ever seen.

having a croc based on Sweetheart was only an okay idea, but there were also many flaws within this movie. for example, one of the tourists said that by nightfall, the tide would be as high as the trees, yet by nightfall the tide only starts going up every ten minutes.

still, this was the best croc movie i've ever seen in my life.

i guess im just a sucker for australian crocodile trapped in the outback movies. Thought it was fantastic i loved it. Ending was a touch week though, would loved to have seen the ending happen on the island.

Another giant killer croc filck that is pretty good but nothing different from films like "Primeval" and "Lake Placid" people get fucked up by a giant croc that all that happening in this flick. If you weren't a fan of the above mentioned films then skip this one cause its all the same shit.

I like Greg Mclean but let's be frank, EVERYONE should have died. I was expecting some great kills and got what? A woeful four? With so many survivors I want carnage. Lots of it. I want crocs tearing shit up. I want non-stop action. I want limbs flying and a (poor) supporting cast ripped to shreds. And for that alone it deserves to be shit on.

A personal beef of mine - I find Michael Vartan (and Radha Mitchell to a lesser extent) insufferable.

So - Disappointing. Very. And suspense? What suspense?

The best creature feature I've seen in years. It's rare these days to see a rated R horror movie that doesn't rely on gore or cheap scares but on suspense especially a creature feature, it was a breath of fresh air. The aussie locations were amazing, it was nicely filmed by director Greg McLean(Wolf Creek), all the actors were likable, and gave decent performances, and were worth rooting for. This is one of my favorite creature feature to date and I am looking forward to see what's Greg McLean's next horror pic will be, hopefully a sequel. Recommended!

the best crocodile film to date.
Greg Mcleans great direction is what makes this film so well.
it is scary and the second film of Greg Mclean and is one for the books.

this is !rogue! with a new acount! And im back to say this movie is Absolutley amazing. Its not only my Fav. horror film, but it is my all time fav. movie!

Posted By: vampyreman87 at 9:24am, April 11, 2009

This is definately a really entertaining movie. I also have to say that I kept wondering wheater or not they were using a "real" giant crocodile for half the movie, that was definately the most realistic cgi animal Ive ever seen. This was really good, I think that this directors approach to horror is better than almost anyone out there, I love the slow buildups, and the best thing about that, is he always delivers, theres always a payoff with this guy.

Rogue is one of the better movies from 2008...starring the very pretty Radha Mitchell, the incredibly sexy Michael Vartan and, the smoking hot Sam Worthington Rogue is actually a terrifying monster movie...the movie starts off very well letting us get to know who all the characters in the movie are and even see a small love interest between Radha and Michael that I think should have been used in the story alot more...Rogue was actually a terifying crocodile...Rogue also looked really good on the camera and the best use of CGI since the dinosaurs in King Kong...this movie is really intense and will make you think about going near a crocodile again...George Mclean has made another good movie but i still think Wolf Creek is the better of his two movies...

Posted By: randomrick at 2:12pm, March 10, 2009

just another crappy giant croc movie..why all the hype?

Posted By: nightmaric at 11:10pm, March 7, 2009

Nice cinematography, fairly tense. Would've liked to see a bit more deaths cause the survivor pool is unmistakeably high. It's unlikely in horror cinema should a group of 10 or 11 go into the wilderness and more than 3 come back. But other than horror movie logic (which was made fresh by the many survivors) it was a pretty twisted tale of crocodilian suspense. My vote is 7.

Shitbuster.

For a crocodile movie, it's good. I mean look what it's up against. Lake Placid and Primeval.... It's good for a croc movie, but horror fans won't go crazy for it. Rent it, definitely don't buy it.

Now I want to go to Australia, but at the same time I'm absolutely terrified! I'd love to see the beautiful scenery of Australia, thanks to this film's cinematography. I loved the shots over the waterfalls and canyons. One thing that was interesting about this film was that it started as more of a shock film, but once it got closer toward the end, the more brutal it got. And the final showdown is epic! Michael Vartan used a deadfall while sitting down! And the log goes through the crocodile's head! This was the best animal killer movie I have seen and I'd love to share watching this movie with a friend. And watch them scream their ass off. I'm an awesome friend.

very dissapointing movie.

This movie was just a bunch of messed up shit! First off the acting was pretty decent, there was no real stiff or wooden performances that I noticed (probably because I fell asleep half way through) The special effects were good everything looked realistic and the deaths that did happen looked awesome. The croc looked big, strong and life like and this was probably the best croc I've seen, it was HUGE. The storyline was nice, group of tourists floating down the river on a boat croc attacks, they are stuck on a little island and oh shit the water rises up so high that the whole thing is beneath murky water. So whats the plan? Get the fuck outta there before night time because that is when the water starts to rise fast. Some of the characters were annoying and they pissed me off, I was waiting for them to die but, like only 4 people die. Yea thats right, out of about 12 or 10 (I don't know the exact number) like 4 or 5 people die!!!!!!!!! What a non suspenful, tame movie. Now I don't really care if theres gore or no gore but at least have more people die damnit!!!!!!!!! The bravery of the lead male role is just astounding and unrealistic. Like you'd go into the crocs cave, piss it off try and kill it just to save some stupid ass girl who looked like she already died. If I was that guy, screw the girl I'd go bail with the rest of the group. There was no suspense, I wasn't tensed up for one single moment and it wasn't scary at all. So overall the things they needed to improve on this movie was:

1. Way, way more deaths (maybye about 2 survivors)

2. Kill off the annoying characters first.

3. Make the bravery a bit more realistic then to go into a cave and fight a croc with your bare hands over some annoying girl.

4. Way more suspense and jumpy moments.

5. Make the croc more bad ass, because believe it or not crocs can go on land so why didn't it just jump on the island and kill 'em all. There probably was a reason for that but I stopped paying attention to this horrible piece of shit very early into the movie.

I give rogue a 2/10.

This movie was utter shit , a major let down after Wolf Creek. No suspense , gore or blood it was nothing but a wasted opportunity. If you want a good crocodile movie watch 'Black Water' instead.

Posted By: BK's Finest at 8:19pm, December 8, 2008

3/4 of the movie was boring like Wolf Creek...This movie is just ok.....

Posted By: babagloom at 7:17pm, December 8, 2008

Surprisingly good!

Posted By: horrorfan25 at 8:59am, November 16, 2008

I thought Greg Mclean was a hack with no directing skills after that bore fest 'Wolf Creek'. He proved me wrong when I saw 'Rogue'. This may be the best croc film I've seen!

A MASTERPIECE!! Greg Mclean is a force to b recnd wit I cant wait for his next movie

Posted By: PromNight2008 at 1:30pm, October 19, 2008

I loved it. Acting and cinematography were definite highlights, but almost everything else was perfect as well. Greg McLean has officially made it onto my "directors to watch for" list. The shots he gets, the actors he uses, and just the overall suspense he manages to pull off (especially in this movie with so little gore) are just amazing. I was blown away by this film.

Posted By: billbeast at 4:48am, October 7, 2008

This is my fourth favourite movie of all time, and what i love is that not everyone dies, just a slected random few. Key scenes cwere built up with suspense with doubt abour what would happen next. Its a masterpiece in my books.

Posted By: Protecious at 10:26am, September 30, 2008

what a masterpiece of a movie this was, the director of this film Greg Mclean who also made the underated Wolf Creek, is definatly a name to keep attention to in future films, but about Rogue. this is definatly The best croc/alligator-related movie ive ever seen, i admit i loved primeval alot too, but the problem with primeval was the cgi, in rogue, we are treated to a very believable looking predator, very vicious, very much within the believable reality that this could happen, they could have made the animal much bigger and went overboard, but since they kept it a desent size, it is even more believable.
there is very very intense moments in this film that are very much nail biting, for example climing across a rope above the water just waiting for them to get attacked, that suspense is rarely felt so strong in these types of movies, but this one is definatly a classic, already watched it 4 times. good story, good direction, good drama, even comedy relief here and there, beautiful scenary, a very good cast. well done. perfect film in my eyes !

The story line was good, but i have to say there was nothing scary out of that whole movie.

Posted By: TheDeadMayTasteBad at 12:22pm, August 17, 2008

"Greg McLean is looking to be someone to watch out for. After scaring audiences witless with his Aussie outback shocker "Wolf Creek" and hurting the Australian Tourism Board immensely his back at it again. However, this time he replaces a serial killer with a 7 metre saltwater crocodile who's hungry for humans and luckily a boat full of them arrives at his doorstep.

McLean doesn't waste time with a huge story, it is very basic and to the point. Pete McKell is an American travel writer who travels the world and writes about the places he visits. He is sent to the Northern Territory to go on a river cruise which is lead by Kate Ryan (Radha Mitchell). On board there are plenty of other tourists waiting to become bait.

The movie starts off with some beautiful scenes of Australian outback, they are absolutely stunning. When the action starts, though, it never lets up. For the rest of the movie I was on the edge of my seat, McLean really knows how to racket up the tension. It helps that the river is murky and we don't see too much of our monster until the end. And when we do see our crocodile friend it is amazing. Part CG and part animatronics, the crocodile looks very good and very menacing.

The acting is good all round, although the characters aren't hugely deep, the actors do a good job of making us love them or hate them. Particularly good is John Jarret (of Wolf Creek fame) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill)..." --LoneWolfAndCub, imdb.com

This was a fun movie...The Croc looked fucking cool as hell. The movie was a bit slow at first, but not annoyingly slow. I haven't seen a creature movie in a while and it was a total breath of fresh air. The acting was good, no one really stood out for me, they were all just there and didn't suck. The camera work was good as well, it wasn't choppy or shaky at all. I loved the ending in the crocs cave. They did such a good job on his movements and biting. Def. give this flick a chance - when you are in the mood for a fun movie.

7.75/10 - rounded up to 8

Posted By: Doc Clockwork at 8:24pm, August 16, 2008

I rented this purely to see the lovely Radha Mitchell, but was pleasantly surprised by the skillfully crafted scares and suspense. Definitely surpassed my expectations for a movie about a bunch of tourists stranded in the Australian wilderness hunted by a giant crocodile.

Posted By: bigmo_402 at 7:30pm, August 16, 2008

This was the best croc movie I've seen period. Well worth watching, not alot of blood but it had a good story. I'll have to watch Black Water to compare.

Posted By: APEXX138 at 2:37am, August 16, 2008

This movie was phenomenal! If you read anything negative such as the lack of gore or being unoriginal I would write it off. This movie was extremely well executed with great acting and a very believable villain. The crocodile looked realistic throughout and the CGI was almost completely unnoticeable (which I was beginning to think was almost impossible due to the crappy usage in most movies). Any lack of gore is made up for in suspense, thrills, and execution. Looking forward to McLean’s next production as it seems like Wolf Creek was definitely not a one hit wonder from this guy.

Posted By: SamuelRisenhoover at 2:04pm, August 11, 2008

Really well done. I liked Wolf Creek more, but this is definately the most aggresive animal flick since Jaws. Can't imagine why Primeval won the sooner release date, as this one surpasses that film by miles. Take a look for yourself. This director has got serious talent, and I am looking forward to his next horror release.

Posted By: Jacques at 9:48am, August 9, 2008

First and foremost, do not be deceived by the cover in thinking this will be a gory film. There is more blood on the cover than the movie itself. I do not know why this was released by Dimension Extreme, because it could have easily gotten a PG-13 rating if they took out a few f-words. On the violence scale, this is maybe a 2/10. Do not expect a gory movie. At all.

With that said, the lack of gore worked for it rather than against it. By far the main focus here is the tension, and the "this could happen to you" feeling. This made the first 3/4 insanely solid and well-done, even a little scary.

But the last 1/4 was a complete disaster, similar to Alien vs. Predator in style and layout. The movie did a total 180 from neat realistic horror to cheesy, laughable b-monster movie. It was too over-the-top and cliché for the type of story it started as. That really screwed up the entire thing.

The other main problem I had was the lack of ANYTHING even remotely similar to originality. It used the exact same formula as every other giant croc movie. Why couldn't a director as talented as Greg McLean think of something at least SLIGHTLY original? Surely he could think of something that could happen in real life that would be this terrifying, but not so unoriginal.

I just wish he would have at least tried.

The movie was good, but nothing to phone home about. It's just as unoriginal as it looks, and it has NO gore to boot it. It creates tension some, but kills it with the lame ending.

Take it or leave it. I expected more from Greg McLean. Wolf Creek is far superior, though it lacks a lot of the same things this movie lacked. Namely anything even remotely original.

Excellent movie that didn't really a lot of blood or gore... and that's coming from a gorehound. This movie is all about dread and suspense and it does both wonderfully. I usually detest all forms of CGI unless it's absolutely necessary, so you can believe me when I say the croc for this movie looks fantastic. Probably the greatest big croc movie of all time. Highly recommended.
