The hype around this movie was CRAZY!! Everyone was hoping for a new Evil Dead, the score on IMDB after 5000 votes was 9.2 - This was going to be GOOD! But NO!

The movie starts out with some guys kidding about Bruce Campbell's bad movies, while heading for a graveyard. Only problem is that all props look like the movie is made entirely in a studie, and the jokes seem forced. Well, it might get better, right?

Nope it gets worse and worse. Bruce is using forced humor, the movie is visually boring (Think of a cheap version of Jack Brooks or Lesbian Vampire Killers).

After 20 minutes I was fighting myself not to turn off this crap movie. But after 50 minutes I couldnt handle the HORRIBLE humor and all the crap so didnt finish it.

If you are looking for a movie in the same catagory you should watch the mediocre and relatively funny "Lesbian Vampire Killers", "Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer" or "Zombie Strippers" insted.

As a fan of Bruce Campbell I so badly wanted to love this film. But I felt so let down and I'm not really sure why? Is it because I'd built this film up to much? Were my expectations to great? It had everything I thought it would. A preposterous plot, The Chin at his wise cracking sarcastic best. Plenty of in jokes for the fan boys. B-movie acting, Gore and set pieces. So why did I feel so disappointed? I think I was expecting something a little more like his book Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way, which was hilarious. Though it sickens me to even think it, maybe I have become weary of The chin?

My Name is Bruce- 2009

Good Parts- some decent gore, decent pacing, BRUCE CAMPBELL!, Ted Raimi also has a cameo

Bad Parts- stupid plot, half assed acting, lame jokes, ALMOST EVERY KILL IS THE SAME THING!

Overall I don't think this movie does justice to Bruce Campbell, it has some pretty terrible jokes, it drags on at parts and is just crappy movie

3/10

This movie kind of put me to sleep, than woke me up again. Not bad, a typical Bruce film. Im gonna rate it 8 skulls only because Bruce knows EXACTLY what he is making here, and that this is yet another film by him that doesnt try to be something its not.

Let's get one thing straight, I love Mr.Campbell just as much as the next B movie junkie, but ultimately this movie isn't any better than a lot of the cheap Sci-fi originals we've seen him in lately.

The inside jokes aren't even that great (most just reference Evil Dead anyway). Though having the hick from Evil Dead 2 and the blacksmith from Army of Darkness vying over which supporting character is better was pretty hilarious, and a bit more esoteric than most the jokes.

Overall it just felt mediocre. I was hoping for Bruce to get a little bad ass by the end, but it never delivers in that aspect. You just get the egotistical, drunken meat head the whole time. Which he plays to a T, don't get me wrong, it just feels tired after a while.

Saw it at a screening in Philly which Bruce Campbell hosted. It was a good movie. Funny and entertaining. Definitely for Bruce fans.

My Name Is Bruce is a pretentious, self-indulgent, and intellectually blank piece of greatness. If you happen to be a Bruce Campbell B-movie virgin, and pop your cherry to this movie you may think it is terrible. For many of us, our experiences with his pants-on-head retarded movies are what make Bruce Campbell infallible to failure. His self-deprecating humor is genius. In a way, he makes fun of the viewer for watching his movies. He pretty much says, “I’m Bruce Campbell and you like me for the Evil Dead movies, and I am going to ride that to the bank. I am not going to try to make a real movie, because I could shit on a DVD and you will buy it.” And shit he did, but it was one of those wonderful BMs that you get after coming home from work. He makes an absolute mockery of himself, and it is fantastic.

The movie itself is hilarious, but probably funniest if you are familiar with Bruce Campbell movies.

Again, the brilliance of this movie really is in knowing Bruce Campbell as an actor. He was an actor that really should have been something much bigger than he became: he just never caught on. Bruce Campbell exploits his true-life shitty luck with this movie.

The movie gets an 8 by itself. The total picture of what it stands for gets a 10.

Oh, and Grace Thorsen has an AMAZING rack. How amazing? Better than Heather Graham.

Let me just start out by saying that I know Bruce Campbell, personally, and the protagonist kid in this movie is one of my old friends. Bruce lives one town over from me, and used to come annually to my small Oregon high school to talk about film. I remember that he acted like a dick to all the students, and his ego had no bounds.

That being said, this movie is very reflective of his personality. It's self-indulgent, but entertaining. It's clever, but ultimately kind of lame, especially in the gore department. Essentially, Bruce plays himself, which is hands-down the best part of the film. When he injures his own fans, when he gives his dog alcohol instead of water - that's classic Bruce. His slapstick comedy style is done so well here, and there's no way that anyone can doubt his acting ability. Unfortunately, he's also the director, and the movie itself is indeed boring, uninspired, and quite lame, no matter how great I wanted it to be.

In conclusion, if you've liked any of Bruce's past movies, you should check out 'My Name is Bruce,' but only for Bruce Campbell himself - not for the plot, gore, scares, flash, or entertainment value (all of which are relatively low here). Considering the fact that you're reading this, you should go out and watch it. Have fun!

I found this film absolutely hilarious. Mr. Campbell did an outstanding job making fun of himself and his career as a B movie actor. Very original which is what I like most about any film. There were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud. An overall great horror/comedy film. I enjoyed the cameos made by Ted Raimi. He himself was also very funny. I would recommend this to any fan of Bruce and his work.

It was alright but it was nothing special. Of course Bruce Campbell was cool but other than that kinda boring.

I suppose it would be hard to like “My Name is Bruce” if you weren’t a Bruce Campbell fan. I wouldn’t know because I am a huge Bruce fan. With that being said, I do believe that this movie was made to gratify Bruce’s loyal fans. So, how do I rate this?

If you are a fan of Bruce, you will love this movie.

If you don’t like Bruce or the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness style of movies, then you will not like this one.

So which group do you belong too?

This movie was fun, exciting and just down right Awesome!! Bruce Campbell is by far one of my favorite actors! I for one enjoy anything this guy is in!!

I loved it.
Thought it was a great way to promote him while still keeping up the B-movie listing of what is really an A-list star.

Posted By: gorehound62 at 5:15pm, February 18, 2009

is this bruces best movie? no. does it come close to the evil dead or army of darkness? no. is it a movie where the lead actor relentlessly makes fun of himself, and has some laugh out loud moments? yes. actual movie was, uh, bad. but watchin bruce is still so much fun. he knows the movie sucks, but he just wants to make us laugh, and he does. okay.

Bow down to the man they call BRUCE!!!

Posted By: Protecious at 3:30pm, February 12, 2009

FUN, strange, and the closest thing any of you will get to an evil dead 4, this a major improvment over campbell's man with the screaming brain.
This is definatly a comedy with horror elements, if your a true fan of Bruce Campbell you will understand all the shots he takes at fans as well as embracing them at the same time.
Great entertainment!

This was a horrible film. I am a fan of bruces Evil Dead films... bubba ho tep was cool also. this film my name is bruce was crap... boring, bad acting, the sets sucked, and the story was lame. Bruce has proven to me atleast he is truly a washed up B-list asshole. He does not respect his fans, he is spiteful that he never made it past B-horror films... In closing let me say that i am truly disappointed with bruces views on himself and his work... Get over yourself and accept your B-list fame! You prick...
