I didn't really like it. Probably because I didn't really get it.

"Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now you %*!#ing stupid bastard!"
I saw American Psycho when it hit theaters back in 2000. Going in, I really did not know what to expect. I thought I was going to see something similar to "Psycho."
I walked out of the theater after the movie was over, blown away. I was thinking "what the hell was this movie I just saw?" and "who the hell was that guy?" Needless to say, it quickly became one of my all-time favorites!
Awesome awesome awesome movie. I could go on forever so I will keep it short. The first thing that caught my attention here was the directing. Very good! If only more movies were constructed with this much care and attention to detail. Mary Harron both excellently captured and depicted the character of Bateman and his world in this film. Really, the viewer is drawn into his world right from the get-go. Or is it the shower scene, lol?
Not enough can be said about Christian Bale's performance. It was perfect and SHOULD have won the "Best Actor" Oscar in 2000. What the hell do those Oscar people know anyhow? I did not know who this guy was until after I saw this movie. He became my favorite actor very fast as I saw more of his films. And, he eventually became my favorite superhero! ...But Bale was still better in American Psycho than he was in either of the Batman films. Christian Bale's Bateman was so many things: calculating, sarcastic, manipulative, menacing, and pure evil.
The story was very engaging. It was wise to have a lot of narration by Bateman, as it helped put a face on this otherwise faceless character. Plus the rage and sarcasm that came out of his mouth was really funny. Too funny in fact, where I found myself wondering if I should be laughing and cheering this guy on so much.
I really enjoyed the killing in this movie. I thought it was very well done in that it showed enough to really creep the viewer out. This movie was a bit Jason-like as Bateman's killing scenes were so entertaining to me. No he did not smash an occupied sleeping bag against a tree or anything, but that axe scene in his apartment, with Paul Allen, and Huey Lewis and the News, holy shit!
I also loved the soundtrack to this movie. Those 80's hit songs Bateman was always listening to, flawless! His speech on Genesis just before the terrific sex scene, super-awesome.
I decided to give the novel a read shortly after seeing the film in hopes of learning more about what was going on in Bateman's head. The movie is not exactly the same as the book in that the book has more events and details of Bateman and his activities. I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the movie and wants more Bateman, as more Bateman you will get!
While I am very happy with the movie, I ultimately do wish the director included more of the gore from the book. Not all the gore though, no one wants it to be a Saw film...But imagine what the scene with the pipe, the cheese, the rat, and the acid would have been like!
Bottom line is American Psycho is a super-excellent film that should be missed by no horror fan.
Easily 5/5 Skulls!
"...and I really can't stress blonde enough. Blonde."
Mwah, it's okay, it could've made WAY better to be honest. I used to love this movie, but ever since i've red the book, it's really on big dissapointment. So for all fans to this movie, i really recommand the book "American Psycho". It has so much torture in it that this movie didn't show. Just some weak killing, while the book makes your spine shiver with joy. Overal, Christian Bale did an awesome job in this movie. I'm giving it a skinny 7.
Absolute Brilliance! Set in a wonderfully sublime 1980's buisness world, this spiral of insanity tells the story of a man who, under his social mask, loathed the very essence of everyone around him... and after committing his grisly crimes, could not be caught, however brash about the crimes; immune to even a confession. I cannot explain how important this movie is! An absolute must see... now if you would excuse me, I need to return some video tapes.
I hate this movie,it really sucks!!!!
I would rather watch cullenfanpire videos on youtube they rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i enjoyed this movie....me and my parents watched it today, wasnt too much gore, but i really didnt mind that, because it was all about Bateman and how messed he becomes
the only thing i didnt get was the ending...like did he really kill everyone? or was it all in his head?

American Psycho remains one of my favorite horror films to this date. Bale's performance is amazing and he really captures the character of Patrick Bateman. I would recommend this to anyone.
