Grindhouse=Fun and thats all it tries to do and it does it right. These are the most cliche movies in a long time but that is the whole idea hence the name grindhouse. If you don't like cheese in your movies you may not like this one but why are you on this site reading what i'm writing here then? I prefer Death prrof over Planet terror but both are good in the won right. Tarantino does what he does best with great dialogue and be prepared there is a ton of it but I loved every second of it.

Hated the f@ck out of these trashy crap. Just couldn't appreciate anything about them.

Posted By: Bostic101 at 2:49pm, September 20, 2009

This double feature was alot of fun at the Movies. I was happy to see Bruce Willis & Kurt Russell to do these type of films.

Posted By: Lionel Cosgrove at 3:23pm, September 5, 2009

The most fun I have ever had in a theatre! The fact that this amazing film flopped in the box office is extremely disappointing. Looks like we can look forward to another 10 years before something this innovative and daring comes out again. Thanks movie-going audiences.

I'm splitting this Review in half for the fact Both "Movies" need to be rated as Individuls..First off we have "Death Proof", I actually "Love" this Movie, It's differnt from most of what I've seen, I'm not sure I'd call it a "Horror" Film but its definately Pulse Pounding! I also love the fact it takes you Off Guard with it's set up, a Group of Young Woman, out on the Town, Looking for alittle Fun just happen to cross paths with "Stunt Man Mike" who uses his "StuntCar" to "Hunt" and "Kill" those he finds most Attractive, almost as if the "Car" was his 'Penis", He gets his Joy this way! Unfortunately, these same "Girls" find out the Hard way how "Hurtful" His Lust can be!! Btw, the Scene of the "Collision" WTF!! I mean, WOW, Great Effects and the Tire through the head of one of our Girls, I'm still trying to "recover' from that! Anyways, just when you think, "well, I guess thats that", along comes another "Group" of Young Woman who like the First, Cross paths with this Crazy Man!! And our Movie becomes this intense, Action Packed Joyride when our "Heroines" this time around, Fight Back!! The Car Chase Scenes are Fantastic, and Kurt Russell Gives a Performance unlike anything You've seen from Him "EVER"! The Ending is just Classic, it's almost like saying "Who's more Fucked Up" Our Killer or his Hapless "Victom's" who littery go Ape Shit on his Ass!! I loved It!! Dialog is classic Quentin Taratino if that means anything to anyone who thinks there was way to much "Talking" If you've seen his other Films, then you know this is his "Vision" of what he does Best! Overall, this Movie was Fun!! One of the best Times I had in a Movie Theater in a Long Time, I'm just sorry it "this Grindhouse Experience" didn't do better than what it did at the Box Office, one day it will end up being of "Cult" Status and maybe will be Appreciated for what it is! Great Time overall!!

Haven't seen Death Proof, but I heard that it was horrible. And how in the world did Rose McGowan could fire the gun attached to her leg. The climax of Planet Terror is easily one of the worst shooting scenes ever.

The high grade of Grindhouse partly proves that horror fans are suckers. Come on guys... Be real.

Posted By: blck_cherry at 3:59am, August 15, 2009

Planet Terror is great, loved it. Great cast, lovely story, the exact amount of blood and grossness.
As for Death Proof, it was boring and too predictable. Love the award winning mutilation scene though.
Will give it a 10 just for Rodriguez's awesome work.

Posted By: horrorbuff28 at 5:36pm, August 3, 2009

i experienced GrindHouse in theaters and let me tell you, it was one of the greatest times i have ever had at the movies. PLanet Terror was sheer brilliance at the highest level and Death Proof was pure Quentin Tarantino and also brilliant.
A Robert Rodriguez film are always excellent especially Sin City.
A Quentin Tarantino movie is pure originality at its finest especially Pulp Fiction.
Put these fantastic Directors together and the end results turns out to be GrindHouse and it does not dissapoint whatsoever.
Check these movies out immediately and watch the beautiful carnage unfold into something some would say ART.

Posted By: KingKyle007 at 7:23pm, July 30, 2009

this movie was absolutely amazing. The trubite to the grindhouse theater era was so unique and different. Planet Terror made me smile from beginning to end. Not only could i tell it was gunna be cheese filled but it looked like it had A class gore. the movie wasn't taken over board. but i feel you have to have a certain humour for it.

and Death Proof is one of my favourite movies now. Its so original and my favourite Tarantino beside Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.
I recommend these movies to anyone looking for some mature fun and all around action packed thrill ride :)

Posted By: !!rogue!! at 11:57pm, July 27, 2009

Both of these movies are awesome.

Posted By: Cipher000 at 3:36pm, July 18, 2009

Its directed by Tarantino and Rodriguez so it automatically gets 7 skulls, but deserves all 10.

Posted By: Mayhem at 12:25pm, July 18, 2009

If I had any complaint about this one it's that the order of the films was wrong. You need to start with the slower one & slam it home with the insane one. Still great flicks & the trailers, oh the trailers!

Posted By: bufffiiieee at 2:38pm, June 30, 2009

I loved 'Planet Terror' it kicked butt.As for 'Death Proof' I was a little bored.

Posted By: Jason4eva at 12:34pm, June 18, 2009

Definitley a enjoyable thrill ride full of everything you could possibly want! I have to say Planet Terror was the best zombie movie in years! And Rose Mcgowan rocked the role of Cherry! Death Proof for me was boring the first half but when it took off it really took off! If the last half was the whole movie it would have beat PT but still fun!Great cast of girls too!

Posted By: format916 at 10:08am, June 18, 2009

Will go down as the movie you wished you saw in the theatre

Posted By: BelaManiac at 9:05am, June 18, 2009

I LOVED these. Deathproof was great. Stuntman Mike was great. The deaths were great. Overall, everything was, yes you guessed it -- GREAT!
But Planet Terror had me at hello. Definately the better of the two. It was cheesy, campy, gory, violent.
Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino definately did it right. It had me interested from the beginning to end. Even the fake trailers were amazing. Thanksgiving? Yes PLEASE

Posted By: GRUDGE4life at 8:39am, June 18, 2009

these movies are soooo ridiculous that they are good!

Posted By: AvoidTheCheese at 5:44pm, June 16, 2009

DEATHPROOF is supper sexy and balls out woah factor, PLANET TERROR isn't as good but is still a fun time. Stuntman Mike! And yeah DEATHPROOF makes up for PLANET TERROR's not so goodness.

Posted By: goooore at 12:59am, April 26, 2009

I really liked Death Proof, but planet terror was a little too wacky for me (and yes, i know it trying to be). death proof makes up for PT though for me :)

Posted By: Googopqp at 10:56pm, April 25, 2009

THIS. IS. BY. FAR. THE. MOST. FUN. EXPERIENCE. EVER. I remember seeing this in theaters, the back to back, and loving every f***ing minute of it. The fake trailers the kick ass movies were f***ing mind bending. I will never be able to go back to how I felt in the theater while seeing this.

Planet Terror the better of the two and the much more violent and gorier too. This movie contains a really kick ass cast and is one of the goriest things to hit theaters in a LONG time. It really brings back the grindhouse feeling, taht im not really formiliar with but I do understand, and the little grains and lines on the movie is hilarious and it is really well done.

Death Proof is slower than Planet Terror but is still a good and fun ride. after the first 20 minutes or so the movie turns slower and into alot of dialogue, which i really didn't care for. I do still respect on Tarantino was trying to bring back the car chase movies he grew up to love and I really did like this movie. The movie really isn't gory and it wasn't supposed to be.

The fake trailers just kicked ass period. Nothing else really to say.

This IS a cinema experience and if you missed it I feel bad, but it really was worth it. I highly recommend seeing these movies still, I wish they would make a Grindhouse 2 or something but they probably won't because alot of people didn't get this. This was great and I give it an easy 10/10!

Posted By: VincenzoPescado at 6:13pm, April 3, 2009

Oh, Grindhouse. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Posted By: Psycho78 at 6:26pm, March 17, 2009

Both movies fuckin' rocked! I loved planet terror more though. Good times!

Posted By: jayres at 3:32pm, March 17, 2009

i loved both movies, i like planet terror more than death proof, but that is because planet terror is alot more over the top than death proof. Death proof also had too much dialogue for my liking

Posted By: randomrick at 5:31pm, March 13, 2009

i realy enjoyed bothe films alot(even though death proof had a ton of conversation),the trailers for me were the best part thanksgiving being the best of the bunch!awsome movies!

Posted By: Quint's Machete at 10:17am, February 9, 2009

Loved 'em both. I like Tarantino's style. Watching his films is like going back in time. Fuckin' love it!!! ROSE McGOWAN...what a decadent slice of sexual heaven.....oh yeah!!!!

Posted By: vegeta13613 at 11:55pm, February 8, 2009

I generally LOVE Tarantino films, but I absolutely hated Death Proof. Sure, it had a few good scenes, but unlike almost every other film of his, I found it very boring. Planet Terror was some good, dumb fun. 4/10 for Death Proof, 8/10 for Planet Terror. So, 6/10, but I'll give it another point because of the fake movie trailers that were done very well.

Posted By: GGoblin31 at 9:02pm, February 8, 2009

'Grindhouse' was fun in the theater, but lame on DVD now that the films are split w/out the incredible faux trailers shown in between PLANET TERROR and DEATHPROOF. Speaking of Tarantino and his righteous self--DEATHPROOF sucks. It's a fucking chat-fest w/ a few cool death scenes. It's so tedious to sit through. PLANET TERROR is old after the first time you see it.

Posted By: ChrisV at 3:31pm, January 11, 2009

This is so fuckin weird, maybe someone else has felt this about a movie, but i cant decide if i like these films or not..... Death Proof is by far the stronger of the 2. And for everyone complaining about too much talking ITS A TARANTINO FILM. Great car chase.
Planet Terror is just boring to me for some reason, and i love the subject matter, just dosent hold my interest at all.

Posted By: bunnyracer420 at 3:10pm, January 11, 2009

FREAKIN AWSOME! thats all i can say! great great movies!

Posted By: capecep at 11:15pm, November 20, 2008

Very entertaining, stylish. Uh, but the films failed at being exploitation films. If they had Rose Mcgowan naked for the intro, showed the little boy blow his brains out, and had the Deathproof girls gangbanging w/ strapons, then it would be an exploitation film. This was pretend "lets get all the coolest people in Hollywood together and play exploitation film Rob!!!" That was the problem with the film, way too soft for hardened exploitation vets, way too hard for daddy and the little league. That's why it didn't make money. I'm sure kids will think this is the coolest movie ever.

Posted By: gorehound62 at 4:37pm, November 14, 2008

when i first heard that my two favorite directors, robert rodriguez and quentin tarantino, where going to make a double feature homage to the old exploitation films, i could'nt wait. i immediatly watched as many grindhouse films as i could to get prepared. and it only added to my exitement whin i saw the first teaser posters. a chick with a macine gun leg, and a cool car with a skull on the hood. and when i saw it, it had been worth the wait. when the first faux trailer, machete came on, i knew i would'nt be dissapointed. the first film, planet terror, was awsome. josh brolin was great, michael biehn and jeff fahey were good as always, and tom savivni in a supportin role was fun to see. and rose mcgowen, complete with gun-leg, was sssssmokin! the second was also good, but lacked something. planet terror was what a grindhouse movie should be, fun, violent, and dosent require alot of thought. death proof, however, is slow to start, and has the typical tarantino long conversation scenes, which i personally never saw in an exploitation film. it was still a good addition, with a great preformance by kurt russel. in my opinion, this is the best horror film put out in a while. near perfection.

Posted By: rusted31 at 6:11pm, November 13, 2008

A truly awesome cinematic experience from start to finish. Planet Terror revels in it's own silliness with OTT gore and a girl with a machine gun for a leg for fucks sake !!! hahaha Death Proof is brilliant with a very nasty under tone and great dialouge. A must see

Posted By: SeeScottSpaz at 12:18pm, November 13, 2008

Probably one of the best theater experiences of my life.

Posted By: MrHorrorfest at 9:09pm, November 4, 2008

Rocked in the theater and I still love it to date.

Posted By: supramaniac121 at 6:43am, October 17, 2008

A brave attempt by Tarantino to return us to the days of the double bill - just a pity that audiences missed the point!!!!
Rodriguez kicks ass with Planet Terror a turbo charged kick in the nuts of a zombie movie. Rose sparkles, even one-legged. Packed chock a block full of more ideas than ten hollywood horrors.
Death Proof is merely average.
The trailers were brilliant - please make the films!!!!!

Kurt Russell is one of the most underated actors of all time, and i dont know why, but he's always been my favorite actor of all time, there's just something about him that is fascinating, his role in death proof is such a great fit for him it couldnt have been done better by anybody else, this movie reminded me of how bad ass he can really be in movies, because i dont understand him thinking posedion would be a good movie to be in, that's probably my least favorite movie with him in it, i pretty much have liked and loved all his performances and films.
Death Proof is no different, wonderfully original and crazy ass stunts really bring an intense thriller to life. great stuff.
Planet Terror, although a zombie film, was done very originally and characters are interesting of course coming from the filmakers collaboration on these two that was obvious before watching it that at least we would have fun interesting characters that talk and a plot that unfolds itself in a fun style . great experience watching these back to back in theaters and the fake previews actually look more interesting than alot of real movie previews (example: "machette")

I absolutely loved Planet Terror, I love cheesy b movies, zombie flicks, and endless gore so its perfect for me. I haven't seen Death Proof saddly and I'm truely forever pissed I didn't see Grindhouse in theatres.

Posted By: ronfrrll at 1:07pm, September 15, 2008

Pretty good, even if I had to end up seeing the theatrical version on Starz.

Death Proof was my favorite, one of my new favorite films.

Posted By: Anthropophagus at 5:14am, August 2, 2008

'Planet Terror' is stylish, gory and entertaining, but cannot compare to the sheer brilliance of 'Death Proof'.

Posted By: BloodyAnneBoleyn at 1:41pm, August 1, 2008

I like them both, music was awesome, actors were awesome. blood was awesome. good times

Posted By: j34ngr4y at 4:15pm, July 20, 2008

I loved the 2 movies but HATED the FAX-trailers!! I found the trailers made me not want to watch these movie again, thats why I loved them on dvd you get THE MOVIE and not the unwatchable trailers ( I WANTED TO RIP OUT MY EYES) I liked PLANET TERROR more then DEATH PROOF but I'm just sick of Quintin's movies there all the same dialog just differnt faces. I loved Rodriguz' film though a total love story after my heart. ZOMBIES SEX AND GUNS OH MY!!! lol

Posted By: KingOfHorror at 6:34pm, July 16, 2008

Great In Theater! Not as Good on Dvd Missing trailers Werewolf Women of SS- Thanksgiving! Luckily available on YouTube check them Out!

both movies were bad ass. I liked them both.

This is like a shitty pair of sneakers with a big shiney Jordan logo on the box. If it didn't say "Tarantino" it would have went strait to video

epic...

Posted By: strangerslover at 7:17pm, June 18, 2008

excellent.

Posted By: Billy_Zombie at 1:57pm, June 12, 2008

I loved Planet Terror! it's by far one of the best films i've seen & has became on of my all-time favourite movies. I enjoyed it so much better than Death Proof because i found that death proof had too much story line and not enough action. Planet Terror on the other hand had it all, including comedy here & there which made the movie much more entertaining. Plus putting a chick with a gun for a leg as a main character made it much more interesting.

Posted By: Jacques at 10:59am, June 11, 2008

Death Proof:

People think this is balls-to-the-wall punk gore-horror?

What?

The movie was basically PG-13. No gore, and I don't think pointless talking is "punk" at all. The serial killer using his car has been done so many times it's lame. If you want punk gore, go play No More Heroes (Wii). Now THAT is punk gore. I admire the grindhouse feel, but, contrary to this, real grindhouses actually had more than a single bloody scene that isn't that bloody.

Overrated by a thousand.

I've never seen Planet Terror, but when I do I'm sure I'll think the same thing.

Posted By: Domino19 at 3:56am, June 7, 2008

Ther are so many reasons to love these movies that all I'm gonna say is they rock.

Posted By: BK's Finest at 12:00pm, May 26, 2008

Death Proof >>>> Planet Terror.... I liked both of them though...

Posted By: PromNight2008 at 3:17am, May 26, 2008

This was an incredibly amazing anthology. Death Proof was by far the better movie, in my opinion, but Planet Terror wasn't too shabby either. I just preferred the more calm yet creepy, anticipation-of-the-kill type atmosphere of 'Proof' to the frantic atmosphere of 'Terror'. Both are great though, and the fake trailers are hilarious, yet seem almost authentic. This is one of the best movies of 2007. It's a shame about the box office.

Posted By: DiegOmen16 at 5:48pm, May 24, 2008

Death Proof was the greatest film of 2007 i totally say it was a million times better then planet terror(which i think it was stupid and pointless)because of its great scene of the car crash, the girls killing the killer and the cars chasing scene the only thing bad was planet terror and the long dialogue of death proof.(by the way i only gave grindhouse a 10 because of death proof but if i would of rated grindhouse in two features like its soppused to be i would gived it a 5)

Posted By: Savinis_bitch at 11:18am, May 21, 2008

Didn't get on with Death Proof. The first 3 girl characters were really interesting and the mystery behind the stunt man at the beginning was interesting. Then the crash which was awsome.

BUT...after that it was boring, there was too much work done on the dialogue. All the women acted like Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction, I found them really irritating and pointless. That's until After the stuntman attavks them then it went up a notch. Other then that I was confused why Tarantino stopped the grind effect on screen, and it was obvious too. The idea was their but I found it weak. But as always he had memorable scenes, like the lap dance scene, and a fantastic soundtrack. It's worth seeing but I was disapointed. Especially with Mr Russle, I don't think he's character was used enough, I liked his character.

Planet Terror on the other hand was fucking fantastic, I advise anyone whos a great lover of horror to see it. It was funny as hell and the characters were well done. It's not supposed to be taken seriously, none of Grinhouse features are. Can't wait for Machete!

Posted By: downward_spiral at 2:18pm, May 9, 2008

The best horror movie ever made hands down. I loved how it was so gritty feeling like back in the old grindhouses. The movies were sweet and really funny. The fake trailers and intermission was the best part about the whole movie. I was laughing so hard. This was the most fun ive ever had in a movie theater. Ya its cool that it came out on DVD but not together and they cut out the fake trailers...Now that pissed me off. I really hope the sequel comes out.

Posted By: alecelmboy at 4:01pm, April 27, 2008

great

Posted By: asimonep at 9:54am, April 1, 2008

BAD A*S!!! So much fun. Planet Terror was sooo gross, and Death Proof was hillarious! Great cast.

Posted By: jicle at 11:22pm, March 27, 2008

So stupid, not even "scary"

Posted By: janene42 at 2:27pm, March 16, 2008

You just can’t fuck with this movie. If you don’t like Planet Terror, I have no urge to even acknowledge you as a person for your lack of stimulation to zombies, government conspiracy, prolific lines, murderous chick affairs, sanctimonious testicle stripping, BBQ recipe lessons (blood=salt), and Rose fucking McGowan as a one legged go-go dancer turned appendage arsenal. I could watch this movie everyday and still be astonished at the cohesion of dirty comedy, break your jaw action, and way-too-realistic puss and goo filled gore. Watch it, love it, and thank whatever god you want that Robert Rodriquez and Quentin Tarantino were sent to make films worth screaming over, worth quoting at every approachable moment, and worth the price to give you the best ocular orgasm rivaling Janine Loves Jenna.

Posted By: gorehunter at 11:56pm, March 11, 2008

Good ol badass old house gore. Let the imagination fill in the blanks. So what if the gore is old tech? It worked and that's the only thing that mattered. The plot in both movies was well done and copied it down to the suspense. There was a lot of things going on and that's what kept it entertaining.

Posted By: Kaname Tousen at 7:03pm, February 13, 2008

Grindhouse the DVD cuts of the movies where awesome the theater cuts where lacking what the DVD cuts showed us from if Butterfly gives stunt man mike that lap dance

WTF happens between the time Cherry darling and El ray where doing it and why the F*** was the house on fire

the music is awesome chick habit was a good song to end on THE LAST RACE is an instant classic especially how the opening of death proof is at first about to say "Quentin Tarantino's THUNDERBO..." then cut to a frame saying "death proof"

Posted By: Lucksaw at 9:16pm, February 12, 2008

Death Proof is a fu**ing classic.

Planet Terror is a very good movie.

Posted By: cw1925 at 4:24pm, February 3, 2008

Grindhouse was an exceptional piece of mastery created by the Tarantino and Rodriguez duo. Hopefully they'll come again one day and create another masterpiece equal to this experience.

Grindhouse 2 will hopefully quench my Grindhouse thirst as I always look for quality horror films.

11/10<- best theatre experience ever.

Posted By: HighlyTENSE at 2:15pm, February 3, 2008

An all around celebration for a cinematic past time. Thoughtful homages, yet offers an original take as well. I will say that Planet Terror is the better half, but both films are entertaining in their own way.

Bring on Grindhouse 2.

Posted By: cloverfielder at 1:21pm, February 3, 2008

This movie, has to be, one of the most amazing movies i have ever seen in my life. From the opening title scene with Cherry Darling gogo dancing, to the ending with stuntman mike, i was very entertained. And i can say that before this movie came out, i have never heard of a grindhouse movie. Now i will never forget. Planet terror is just a fun, gory, violent movie from start to finish. With some great special effects with the gun leg. Death proof, might have been a little slower, with a lot of dialouge, but when the car chase/crash scenes come, you will be on the edge of your seat. Grindhouse is overall one of the best horror movies of our time, and probably the best horror movie of 2007. You owe yourself to see this one.
