I love this movie. More than the first one. It's funnier and it has Mila Kunis.

This sequeal was good, and much easier to understand. I'm glad I saw it. Plus it has hottie Mila Kunis, what's not to like?

When this DVD originally hit store shelves I scoffed at it and mocked it. "Look at this silly thing," I said "as if this would be any good. There is no sequel to Bateman, and this chick, Meg, whatever." ...The other day I found it very hard to find anything to rent so I decided, what the hell I will rent American Psycho 2.
After watching it, I found myself very pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed this movie. But it has nothing to do with or is in any way like the original American Psycho. Sure they reference Bateman here and there, but come on...
This is a movie entirely on its own, and for this reason, it works.
The acting is pretty good (even the lead role, which surprised me!!) and the suspense is good. Not too much in the way of gore, but many killings do happen and felt satisfying. The filming was good and made her killings believable. Rachael was a convincing character (except that tie to Bateman crap) and I found myself enjoying her adventures. Overall, it was fun.
The scenes with Shatner and Rachael's psychiatrist were the best.
The scene with the cat and the microwave was most disturbing.

Essentially its a sequel to Devil in the Flesh (calling it American Psycho 2 is terribly misleading). The fact that there is a sequel to American Psycho makes no sense (consider the ending of the first film). The idea of a character doing what she does to hook up with Shatner and tagging "American Psycho" on the title (trying to draw comparisons between this character and Bateman) is insane. The writers of this seemed intent on handing us a watered down version of the first film, but what they came up with wasn't even that. It was a comedy about a serial killer for sure, but so lacked what made Bateman so intesting in the first film (did they really think Mila Kunis' could do with this character what Bale did with with Bateman?) that its better to just watch this as its own movie. Take it as a dark comedy (and pay no attention to the title).
