I actually thought it was decent. The production values, special effects and editing were good. The acting could've used some work, and most of the scenes were not lit well enough to even see the action. But still, I found this to be at least average -- thousands of times better than the original 'AVP'.
You. Yes you, could have made a better film. Besides the obvious popcorn cheese they went for... the clifhanger ending had nothing to do with the fucking movie.
Do yourself a favor and just cut yourself some more. Alot more fun.
"Sorry!". I was lead to belive that this was a movie made by fans for fans!. What a load of tat! I'm a fan of the original Graphic novells, and this is just so poor. I was expecting so much more. DISSAPPOINTING :(
Just fun oldschool gore. I don’t understand how people can say this movie isn’t gory. No, it’s not Saw IV, but if you remember, the R-rated Aliens little more than smear of blood. The baby-killing scene was a step up in punk-gore than most anything that was in theaters last year or this year combined.
It was just a load of fun. The first AvP didn’t even have that fun factor going for it.
Alright I just wanted to say that the first one was horrible so I can into the second thinking that it was going to suck ass but it surprised me. This was a great movie loaded with decent acting and lots of cool visuals and gore. I thought it was a badass movie and I think you should check it out. I will say though there are some parts in the movie where it gets really dark and hard to see so look out.
Come on. It's Alien vs. Predator. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. In any form it's a genre fan's wet dream. Of course, when it gets semi-fucked up like it was in the first, I can see why people become skeptical. However, Requiem is a vast improvement upon the first. For one, this Predator actually acts like a fucking Predator. He doesn't go down in the first five minutes of battle like a bitch like the one in the first film did. This guy is kicking ass and taking names. And he's doing it EXTREMELY WELL. Also, he's not sympathetic to humans. At all. Someone gets in his way? *VWAP~!* There goes their head (or heads, depending on how many victims there are), or *SHINK~!* there goes their skin. He. Doesn't. Mess. Around. You will die, and so will all the Aliens.
Next up, we have the badass of all Aliens: the Predalien. If the Queen ever had an equal in terms of vicious ferocity and overall "OH SHIT~!" factor, it'd be this big boy. Not only does he royally fuck up the uber-Predator on several occasions (which speaks volumes in of itself), HE CAN IMPREGNATE YOUR GIRLFRIEND/WIFE/MOM (providing, of course, that they're pregnant themselves). This isn't anything that they're going to enjoy, either. This is the French kiss from Satan. This guy's forcing his second mouth-chomper-thing (which apparently doubles as a penis) down these chicks' throats so that his little offspring can eat their babies and erupt through their stomachs. Talk about hardcore. (Question: Does that change their names from "chestbursters" to "wombbursters"?)
The action and fight sequences were, I thought, incredible as well. Especially the part where the girl was running along, then suddenly, *DONK~!*, the top half of her is nailed to the wall by a gigantic shuriken while her bottom half is dissolved by the Alien blood that was on the blades.
Also, the glimpse of the Predator homeworld, however brief, was cool as hell. And thank God that they didn't use CG for the Aliens/Predator/Predalien, because they looked fantastic in here.
And now, the Bad:
The acting. Oh my God was the acting horrendous. It wasn't even all of them, either. It was the one main guy, the ex-con. He was absolutely HORRENDOUS. "People are dying." Oh, no shit, Sherlock? Here, let me give you a prize for being CAPTAIN FUCKING OBVIOUS. I kept on hoping this guy was going to get offed, but alas, he never did, and we all suffered as a result.
As for the script itself:
First off, it seemed like they completely forgot that an Alien's blood is acidic, except when they needed to melt someone's face off or disintegrate a limb or torso. In Alien, the little squirt of blood from the facehugger ate through about four levels of the Nostromo through presumably very thick steel, and yet, it doesn't eat through the high school pool deck? How about the Predator's weapons? Were they made of some different material that's indestructible? There should've been giant holes everywhere in that town just from the Alien blood alone. Remember the scene near the end of the movie where the aforementioned terrible actor shot the Alien's head off when it was two feet from his face? How come he didn't get his face melted off? Goddamn I wanted him to die so bad...
Next, the Predator's ship, and what happened to it. You don't think someone's going to hear or feel a ship like that crash landing? You guys remember how much of the jungle was decimated when the Predator set off his bomb in the first Predator? Did you see how relatively little damage it did? Are there certain power settings that we're supposed to assume exist? Not to mention, if people didn't hear/see the ship crashing in the first place, they're definitely going to hear a giant explosion of death like that. And why did the Predator detach his gun? Much more effective on the shoulder.
The Alien gestation/birth period was way too fast from facehugger to chestburster. I think it would've done much better for tension purposes to just leave the father and the boy in the beginning alive with us knowing that the burster's in there, and no one else aware of the fact until halfway into the movie, and *POP~!*, they come out, the Predalien comes out, and the Predator (who up until this point has been making rounds with the humans who get in his way while tracking the Predalien) makes his presence fully known.
The thing that pissed me off the most, though, was the ending. They just got done nuking the city, and they leave the ones who know about everything that happened ALIVE?? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? In real life, they would've been shot on the spot, and everything would've been covered up.
I still enjoyed the movie, though, if not only to make my inner nerd squeal like a little school girl. I'm hoping that since AvP:R fixed AvP's lack of action, the third one will fix the previous two's lack of tolerable acting and give us something worthy of the two franchises.
ok first oh all i am a huge fan of alien and predator GREAT movies. then with both of them in the same movie how could they go wrong..... so many ways like terrible actors, make the aliens so weak, the fight scenes are sooo damn dark. those are probly the worst parts of the movie, but this movie isnt all that bad the fight scenes were good when you could see what was goin on and the gore and violence was also good because the first movie had none of it all ALL wtf was up with that.but anyway it was overall like 2 maybe 3 stars.
Truly awful in every way I agree fully with Mr Disgusting and his review, I had been waiting sometime for this and was hoping it couldn't be as bad as the first AVP but unfortunately it was equally as bad.
This film was what I expected just plain fun. I was not looking for a story line or good acting or much of anything but to be entertained by two of the best space monsters ever created. I had fun, period.

I loved it! Specially when the girl got impaled with the like large razor thingy!
This film really had nothing more to offer that the previous one had. It just cranked up the gore a bit and the plot was absolutely pointless. Why did they come to planet Earth to fight to begin with? Dont't they have their own planets to fight on? We have enough problems with protecting our enviroment on this planet without having alien creatures coming and destroying our landscape! Will the winner help restore our planet or destroy it? It would have been more interesting to see them fight on one of their planets. The landscape would really be cool and different.
this was way better than the last one!! i was impressed.

Nothing could of been worse then the first AVP, so I set my standards very low before I even walked into the theater. While I was disappointed, it wasn't for the fact that the entire movie was horrid but rather I had already seen what seemed like ALL of the Alien and Predator action online before ever even buying my ticket.
Not to say there isn't lots of it..because there is. People complained about the characters and acting..."what the hell were you expecting?!?" when the only characters I even cared to see where the Aliens and the Predator.
Other then the acting "you know thats rather horrible already C'mon" I only had one real problem with the film over all.
I'm aware that "The Wolf" Predator as he is called is some sort of super bad ass. But even though me being a bit more of a Predator fan than an Alien fan...I have to admit he was almost TOO BAD ASS! Almost every Alien that touched him got torn to shreds before anything that would resemble an actual "Fight" can start. Its more like an Extermination than an actual battle....but even that is pretty sweet within is right.
But still...one of my biggest grips with the first film was that there was only one REAL fight between a Predator and an Alien in the entire movie! While there are plenty of Alien and Predator fights in the film, they all end almost as quickly as they start! Even the final battle between the Predator and the Hybrid Alien, although more then !!awesome!! "And realistic as stupid as that may sound" seems cut short and is over before the action ever seems like it really gets a chance to kick in.
I still enjoyed the movie, that much I can't deny despite my grips with it. And look forward to seeing the Unrated DVD when it is finally released.
I have read nothing but bad reviews for this film and i have to say it was in part a horrible film. I went into it only wanting to see the fight scenes and thats all i cared for. The fights between the predator and the many aliens were very cool. So if thats all you want to see check this film out. Other than that this film is a let down.
