So lame. Not only is the acting, plot, and special effects sub par; the whole movie is too dark to see what the hell is even going on. It gets a 4/10 for not being afraid to show a child's death, unmercifully, in the beginning of the movie.

Posted By: Mrmcd666 at 12:44pm, November 5, 2009

This Movie is better than AVP for 1 reason and worse that AVP for one reason.
The reason why is was better was because we get a cool Predator who kicks ass and takes names but at the samr time this movie has horrible cliche teenagers. No Alien or Predator film as ever had cliche teenagers so why start now? The stupid teenagers really runied it for me.

Posted By: LuJr81 at 6:12am, October 16, 2009

IDK why people are so in love with the first one. I hated the first one there is no way in hell you can make an aliens or predator movie PG13 and make it worth while, please. Me being a gore hound found Requiem way more enjoyably than that lump of crap that preceded it. Its not as bad as people make it out to be, if your a real fan of the aliens and predator movies you'll like this.

Posted By: caseynight88 at 9:52pm, September 21, 2009

So so so f@cking terrible. Yeah the gore would have been refreshing, if I could see half of it through the black shapes moving on the screen. Looks like they shot the movie by the light of the moon. Either that, or the directors' cellphone's screenlight.

Posted By: Bostic101 at 7:04am, September 13, 2009

I went to see this movie when it release Christmas day and found it to be better than i expected. I think it offered more than the first AVP film but still lacked some storyline.

Posted By: CountOrlok at 1:10am, September 12, 2009

Proof that more gore does not make a good movie. After a somewhat exciting opening 5 minutes, this movie becomes a cross with Dawson's Creek, a bad slasher movie with aliens and predators thrown in.

Not to mention the horrible darkness in this movie that looks like someone took a big shit on the celluloid. Almost painful to look at sometimes, what's the point if you cannot even see what's going on?

Only good things are the opening and the predator design looks good. The aliens look like shit, however.

A terrible, terrible movie with very few good things about it.

AvP was a good popcorn movie. This was just garbage. It's only redeeming factor was the Predalien design.

Posted By: bloodnguts313 at 9:08am, August 12, 2009

Ok the first 1 was way better

Posted By: !!rogue!! at 11:27pm, July 27, 2009

I thought this was cool because im a big fan of Predator.

Posted By: Mayhem at 12:05pm, July 13, 2009

Quite a step up from the first AvP, this one wears it's R rating proudly & that alone goes a long way for me. I was insulted when the first was pg-13, but the gore is all present & accounted for. And what gore it is, if the idea of harm to unborn babies makes you uneasy then tread carefully here. My major complaint is at many times in the movie it's too dark to see the action well.

Posted By: GRUDGE4life at 10:41am, June 23, 2009

much better than the first...respect the freaky looking killing things!

Posted By: Cipher000 at 3:52pm, June 6, 2009

What the hell is happening in this movie. I cant see anything, its all way to dark. Even the daylight scenes are at sundown. Not to mention that the predalien could have been way sweeter

Posted By: xln10 at 5:13pm, May 16, 2009

Really didn't enjoy this movie. Only good part was the fight between predator and that weird alien/predator monster thing.

Posted By: BloodCount at 6:27am, April 11, 2009

The Alien who is the main villian from maybe the best horror film ever made,in this movie. Why is there a mother fucking ALIEN on the planet earth together with a bunch of people when in ALIEN the original series the ALIEN is not known to mankind. This shit does not make sense. Fucking predalien is even worse than the newborn from the fourth alien. I was at least entertained by the first AvP but this is just shit with stupid dialogue an annoying teen characters. TEENS ARE NOT A PART OF THE ALIEN AND PREDATOR MOVIES! AT LEAST NOT AS MAIN CAST! THERE IS A PLACE FOR ANNOYING TEENS AND THATS CALLED CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE WHERE WE CAN LAUGH AT THE THEM BEEING MASSACRED! Altough the Friday the 13th teens are not annoying like the ones we seen here in AvP.

Posted By: Skratchy at 4:47pm, March 28, 2009

It's really hard to imagine how this movie could suck. It's got so many awesome things going for it.

1. it's rated R
2. it's alien and predators fighting
3. there's a mother fucking Predalien

But no, they end up screwing us up the proverbial ass again. The fights are lame and we spend most of our time watching a predator look for the aliens, even though we just saw what they were doing in the previous scene.

Also: too many goddamn cookie cutter people running around being annoying. AVP. Alien Vs. Predator; let's just stick to that okay?

Posted By: !rogue! at 2:22pm, March 24, 2009

i thought this avp was better.

Posted By: Carrie at 10:28am, March 15, 2009

Better than the first one, but still nowhere as good as the orignal movies. No need to have such an awful teen cast with some love story sub-plot.

Some horrible deaths, and the idea of babies being eaten alive inside their mum's was too horrible. Didn't really like it.

Posted By: kryptonite_soul at 12:09pm, February 20, 2009

not many redeeming features to be honest....thought the charachters where incredibly one dimensionally and near impossible to get emotionally involved in...and because of this the whole 3rd act of the film just falls flat on its face...and there is zero dramatic tension in the film...the gore is kinda pittiful and the constant attempts to reference other alien movies are just pathetic and show a geniune lack of any original ideas...ok there is a little more action than the first film and it is actually better than the first....which just kinda shows you how bad the first one is to be honest....when this garbage is better

Posted By: horrorfan25 at 5:57pm, January 23, 2009

This was one of my guilty pleasures. Aliens vs. predator: Requiem isn't suppose to be taken seriously. It's a cheesy, gory sequel that is made for pure fun and that's what I got. The action sequences were well done and the chicks in this movie were hot. I admit the first Alien was one hundred times better then this sequel but even the people who hate it have to admit this was a lot of fun. Should you see this in theaters? No. Should you rent it? Heck yeah. Sure the film is corny and cheesy but that's what makes it fun. Aliens vs. predator: Requiem delivers.

Posted By: gorehound62 at 8:31pm, January 10, 2009

they dont make em like this anymore. it's nice to see that some horror movies are still following what makes the best horror movies. dumb, mindless fun. sure, the story could have been written better by a turnip, but, the aliens and predators are as cool as ever, and there's alot of action. missing lance henrickses, though.

Posted By: mikethademon at 9:52am, January 9, 2009

Cool movie. I liked it better than the first. This movie was full of action, and a gore-fest!

Posted By: AshWilliams95 at 10:25pm, December 24, 2008

I thought this movie was way better than the original but it was still pretty lame.

Storyline: Predator ship crashes on earth in a forest near a small town. Another predator sends himself to earth to see if aliens were the cause of the crash. Soon aliens are everywhere and it is up to the towns people and predator to stop them. Thank god predator isn't on the humans team like the end of the original. 5/10

Acting: Laughable, the acting was poor. You could tell that they were acting, where with good actors they act so well that you forget its a movie because they are so believable. 3/10

Special Effects: I thought the special effects were pretty good, not the best iv'e seen but still good. The predalien looked awesome. 8/10

Best Scene: When the people who stayed in the town to wait for extraction realised that they were going to get nuked by the government. 10/10

Ending: The town gets nuked and the survivors helicopter crashes. 10/10

Overall the movie was pretty damn lame, it had some decent action scenes and was loaded to the top with some nice gore. I give this movie a 6/10

i hated the story to this movie sooo much! i liked the fact they killed kids and love interests because movies rarely do that but i hated the rest of this movie

Posted By: g0re at 1:45am, December 18, 2008

better than the first one but my main complaint is the lighting in the film that was horrible
i never actually knew that Gunnison, Colorado is a real town but i found out it is

Posted By: Kevlar at 6:59pm, December 14, 2008

Not a great move but about a gazillion times better then the first one. Glad they made this movie rated R. It has more blood and gore and not everbody gets killed off in the first 15 minutes!

Posted By: Turk3102 at 4:42pm, December 1, 2008

More of the two movie icons going against each other. Anybody watching this for any reason other than to see that is wasting time. Not the worst movie ever...

Posted By: rusted31 at 6:10am, November 11, 2008

This is not the trainwreck so many people seem to think it is. Sure it was waaaaay flawed but a huge improvement on the dismal first one.The major problem was the human characters and no Alien Queen. Sure they had the PredAlien which was cool but he wasn't a patch on the Bitch!!The human characters were all so cliched and unlikeable so of course no one cared if they lived or died.
I liked the small town setting , much better than a fucking underground pyramid in the Antarctic and the level of gore was most most welcome as the was hardly NONE in the first one. I for one would like to see another AVP film, set in space with 2 or 3 humans and that's It. Oh and don't let 'fanboys' write or direct it.

Posted By: alienfetus at 3:33am, November 11, 2008

It was a film that, much like the last one, had loads of potential and failed. This is another example of the greed-fueled fuckery in Hollywood that seems to be the norm these days. Still, I enjoyed it more than the last one. Some of the fight/kill scenes were okay as were the effects. As I said- WASTED POTENTIAL

Thank you for bastardizing an awesome franchise, Fox.

Posted By: Protecious at 12:43pm, September 30, 2008

What a horrible film this was, the idea of being on earth wasnt bad, i liked the idea of that and it being a r rated film with hopefully more gore than the previous installment, this film really had no interesting characters, a silly simple plot that could be made into any direct to sci fi channel film, very disapointing, the whole time your thinking who really gives a shit who wins? because we all lost in paying to watch it.

Posted By: j34ngr4y at 4:12am, September 29, 2008

HAHAHAHAHA.oh I need to catch my breath hahahahahahahahahaha. And I thought the first was a pice of shit, hahahaha. To think the Alien series has sunk to this leavel is embaressing. I mean the first 4 Alien films had r ratings and longer running time the then 80 some to 90 some min. This movie as a stand alone film to be fair was well..............STILL A F-ING PEICE OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If own this movie nice job retard with no real tast in movies. I feel like I should be the one being paid to watch this god aweful crap!!! I give AVPR 0 zenomorphs out of a planet full of them. "GAG ME WITH A FREAKIN SPOON"

Posted By: RedSabbath at 11:55am, September 20, 2008

I should have learned my lesson the first time around. After the dismal first pairing of these two modern-day Horror/Sci-Fi icons failed to deliver, I should have realized that an unexpected sequel would do any better. However,
this second time around does do better than it's first, but not enough to stop wishing for either an Alien 5 or Predator 3.

Like a page from Casting 101, you have the typical parade of careless characters:The bad boy with brother, the sympathic cop, the solider coming home, and various family members searching for the rest of their clan. There's no time, or need, to care about them, but you figure you'd care about what's going to get them, being the A's and the P's. But honestly after a total of seven movies showing what these monsters do, you
can't really be surprised like the first couple of times. Now granted, the Unrated version, of which I'm reviewing here, has a ton of
graphic scenes, just how many times can a chest-burster or acid blood be impressive? And for a gore-hound like me to be actually bored with this should tell you something. And if that wasn't the worst of it, the Alien/Predator attacks happen mostly at night, and it looks like in the complete dark as well. 80% of all the scenes are so dark, it's hard to tell what you're looking at. And finally, it's ending is supposed to be some sort of prequel to either the original Alien or Predator films (according to the directors' commentary), but honestly I couldn't place how that could be.

In my opinion, only to be viewed by die-hard fans of either franchise, or the seven people who found the first film entertaining. Oh, I almost forgot: remember the underwhelming "more human than Alien" Alien at the end of Alien:Resurrection? Well, if you can turn your brightness control high enough on your set, you'll see this film's equivalent, the PredAlien!!!!

Yeah, it's as bad as it sounds.

ADDITION: I almost forgot to mention this...The musical score on this movie has got to be one of the most frantic, jumbled mess of a recorded orchestra I've ever heard. You GOT to listen to the end credits to see what I mean. Man, my ears!!!!
(RedSabbath Rating:5.5/10)

I hated this movie. It would have been a decent movie if there had been no humans in it at all. I did enjoy the Predator in this one. As long as he was on screen, I was fairly entertained. Unfortunately, the human element in this film was irritating at best and God-awful the rest of the time. This movie would have benefited greatly if the Aliens, Predalien and Predator had wiped out the entire human population in this turkey. Hey, survival of the fittest baby!

This was actually way better than the 1st AVP. The Predalien design was fantastic. The storyline was outstanding and the CGI was better than the 1st one also. Although, I would like to see a full-scale battle between the two races, instead of just one elite Predator taking out hordes of Alien warriors and a Predalien.

I saw the film a couple of days ago and it was kick ass.

Posted By: rockzhard at 12:23am, July 16, 2008

kick ass movie. BD gives a piece of trash like "automaton transfusion" a good review and then dumps on this flic. WTF, ya'll too bizzy fucking a monkey on crack when ya watched AVPR? well, the world is full of dumbass' and i'm starting to think a whole shitload of them are right here at BD.

Posted By: darkamor at 10:57pm, July 15, 2008

I truly wanted to believe that Director Greg and Colin Strause (along with the Writer Shane Salerno) would rescue both the ALIEN and PREDATOR franchises from 20th Century Fox with an R-rating this time (I admired the creators, yet Fox continues to disrespect H.R. Giger by not giving him proper credit for originating the Alien design) ...... however, all I can see is do yourself a favor and please avoid this film (like Nancy Reagan said, "just say no")!

Posted By: Lyssa284225 at 4:31pm, July 15, 2008

This movie was good but i thought it could have been better. I have to say the first Alien vs Predator was better. This one seemed to be a bit boring yet a bit interesting. So im going to rate it a 7 out of 10.

Posted By: TheDeadMayTasteBad at 5:17pm, July 13, 2008

No matter how you say it, "AVP-R" is ridiculous and a terrible tragedy to befall two of the greatest franchises in horror history (or even cinematic history in general). Once again, the bar for the Alien and Predator franchises is lowered to depths unforeseen and the legitimacy of them lessened.

There is even worse acting this time around than there was in the first edition of "AVP", if not some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Honestly, it is sad to see such a half-hearted film get a theatrical release when every facet except for the special effects is Direct to DVD quality. Even so, some of the CGI is very sub-par by today’s standards.

Most of the film is laughable if not grating on the nerves. The Brothers Strause have virtually no style what-so-ever behind the camera and thus we are left with a dull, lifeless, ineffectual looking film. If this isn't enough, the script is not only the definition of standard for modern B-movie horror films, but it also contradicts the entire "Alien" franchise. There should be a rule that a sequel/prequel to a franchise shouldn't undo everything previous entries accomplished by invalidating them entirely.

Skip "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" unless you absolutely have to see two of favorite movie monsters raped to death by the "because we can!" studio standpoint of Hollywood.

Perfect good acting, good special effects, good directing GOOD everything too bad the first was a big pile of crap

Posted By: strangerslover at 1:00pm, June 26, 2008

terrible.

Posted By: PromNight2008 at 10:40pm, June 24, 2008

I actually thought it was decent. The production values, special effects and editing were good. The acting could've used some work, and most of the scenes were not lit well enough to even see the action. But still, I found this to be at least average -- thousands of times better than the original 'AVP'.

Posted By: ZombieMadness13 at 8:12pm, June 4, 2008

Terrible and boring film.

Posted By: alecelmboy at 3:46pm, April 28, 2008

Possibly one of the worst sci-fi horror movies ever!

Posted By: cwatts at 12:44pm, April 23, 2008

You. Yes you, could have made a better film. Besides the obvious popcorn cheese they went for... the clifhanger ending had nothing to do with the fucking movie.

Do yourself a favor and just cut yourself some more. Alot more fun.

Posted By: celticogam at 8:10am, April 21, 2008

"Sorry!". I was lead to belive that this was a movie made by fans for fans!. What a load of tat! I'm a fan of the original Graphic novells, and this is just so poor. I was expecting so much more. DISSAPPOINTING :(

Posted By: Jacques at 4:51pm, April 20, 2008

Just fun oldschool gore. I don’t understand how people can say this movie isn’t gory. No, it’s not Saw IV, but if you remember, the R-rated Aliens little more than smear of blood. The baby-killing scene was a step up in punk-gore than most anything that was in theaters last year or this year combined.

It was just a load of fun. The first AvP didn’t even have that fun factor going for it.

Posted By: downward_spiral at 6:23pm, April 18, 2008

Alright I just wanted to say that the first one was horrible so I can into the second thinking that it was going to suck ass but it surprised me. This was a great movie loaded with decent acting and lots of cool visuals and gore. I thought it was a badass movie and I think you should check it out. I will say though there are some parts in the movie where it gets really dark and hard to see so look out.

Posted By: MetalMachine489 at 3:28pm, April 17, 2008

The Good:

Come on. It's Alien vs. Predator. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. In any form it's a genre fan's wet dream. Of course, when it gets semi-fucked up like it was in the first, I can see why people become skeptical. However, Requiem is a vast improvement upon the first. For one, this Predator actually acts like a fucking Predator. He doesn't go down in the first five minutes of battle like a bitch like the one in the first film did. This guy is kicking ass and taking names. And he's doing it EXTREMELY WELL. Also, he's not sympathetic to humans. At all. Someone gets in his way? *VWAP~!* There goes their head (or heads, depending on how many victims there are), or *SHINK~!* there goes their skin. He. Doesn't. Mess. Around. You will die, and so will all the Aliens.

Next up, we have the badass of all Aliens: the Predalien. If the Queen ever had an equal in terms of vicious ferocity and overall "OH SHIT~!" factor, it'd be this big boy. Not only does he royally fuck up the uber-Predator on several occasions (which speaks volumes in of itself), HE CAN IMPREGNATE YOUR GIRLFRIEND/WIFE/MOM (providing, of course, that they're pregnant themselves). This isn't anything that they're going to enjoy, either. This is the French kiss from Satan. This guy's forcing his second mouth-chomper-thing (which apparently doubles as a penis) down these chicks' throats so that his little offspring can eat their babies and erupt through their stomachs. Talk about hardcore. (Question: Does that change their names from "chestbursters" to "wombbursters"?)

The action and fight sequences were, I thought, incredible as well. Especially the part where the girl was running along, then suddenly, *DONK~!*, the top half of her is nailed to the wall by a gigantic shuriken while her bottom half is dissolved by the Alien blood that was on the blades.

Also, the glimpse of the Predator homeworld, however brief, was cool as hell. And thank God that they didn't use CG for the Aliens/Predator/Predalien, because they looked fantastic in here.

And now, the Bad:

The acting. Oh my God was the acting horrendous. It wasn't even all of them, either. It was the one main guy, the ex-con. He was absolutely HORRENDOUS. "People are dying." Oh, no shit, Sherlock? Here, let me give you a prize for being CAPTAIN FUCKING OBVIOUS. I kept on hoping this guy was going to get offed, but alas, he never did, and we all suffered as a result.

As for the script itself:

First off, it seemed like they completely forgot that an Alien's blood is acidic, except when they needed to melt someone's face off or disintegrate a limb or torso. In Alien, the little squirt of blood from the facehugger ate through about four levels of the Nostromo through presumably very thick steel, and yet, it doesn't eat through the high school pool deck? How about the Predator's weapons? Were they made of some different material that's indestructible? There should've been giant holes everywhere in that town just from the Alien blood alone. Remember the scene near the end of the movie where the aforementioned terrible actor shot the Alien's head off when it was two feet from his face? How come he didn't get his face melted off? Goddamn I wanted him to die so bad...

Next, the Predator's ship, and what happened to it. You don't think someone's going to hear or feel a ship like that crash landing? You guys remember how much of the jungle was decimated when the Predator set off his bomb in the first Predator? Did you see how relatively little damage it did? Are there certain power settings that we're supposed to assume exist? Not to mention, if people didn't hear/see the ship crashing in the first place, they're definitely going to hear a giant explosion of death like that. And why did the Predator detach his gun? Much more effective on the shoulder.

The Alien gestation/birth period was way too fast from facehugger to chestburster. I think it would've done much better for tension purposes to just leave the father and the boy in the beginning alive with us knowing that the burster's in there, and no one else aware of the fact until halfway into the movie, and *POP~!*, they come out, the Predalien comes out, and the Predator (who up until this point has been making rounds with the humans who get in his way while tracking the Predalien) makes his presence fully known.

The thing that pissed me off the most, though, was the ending. They just got done nuking the city, and they leave the ones who know about everything that happened ALIVE?? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!? In real life, they would've been shot on the spot, and everything would've been covered up.

I still enjoyed the movie, though, if not only to make my inner nerd squeal like a little school girl. I'm hoping that since AvP:R fixed AvP's lack of action, the third one will fix the previous two's lack of tolerable acting and give us something worthy of the two franchises.

Posted By: Drizzle12 at 3:06pm, April 16, 2008

ok first oh all i am a huge fan of alien and predator GREAT movies. then with both of them in the same movie how could they go wrong..... so many ways like terrible actors, make the aliens so weak, the fight scenes are sooo damn dark. those are probly the worst parts of the movie, but this movie isnt all that bad the fight scenes were good when you could see what was goin on and the gore and violence was also good because the first movie had none of it all ALL wtf was up with that.but anyway it was overall like 2 maybe 3 stars.

Posted By: KINGHORROR at 5:44pm, April 14, 2008

Truly awful in every way I agree fully with Mr Disgusting and his review, I had been waiting sometime for this and was hoping it couldn't be as bad as the first AVP but unfortunately it was equally as bad.

Posted By: -BLooD- at 7:13pm, April 13, 2008

it wasn't that bad

fun as hell

Posted By: bob3701 at 8:35pm, March 30, 2008

This film was what I expected just plain fun. I was not looking for a story line or good acting or much of anything but to be entertained by two of the best space monsters ever created. I had fun, period.

Posted By: Repo!Screams at 11:42pm, March 28, 2008

I loved it! Specially when the girl got impaled with the like large razor thingy!

Posted By: gorehunter at 12:13am, March 12, 2008

This film really had nothing more to offer that the previous one had. It just cranked up the gore a bit and the plot was absolutely pointless. Why did they come to planet Earth to fight to begin with? Dont't they have their own planets to fight on? We have enough problems with protecting our enviroment on this planet without having alien creatures coming and destroying our landscape! Will the winner help restore our planet or destroy it? It would have been more interesting to see them fight on one of their planets. The landscape would really be cool and different.

this was way better than the last one!! i was impressed.

Posted By: FleshTrap666 at 9:27am, February 4, 2008

Nothing could of been worse then the first AVP, so I set my standards very low before I even walked into the theater. While I was disappointed, it wasn't for the fact that the entire movie was horrid but rather I had already seen what seemed like ALL of the Alien and Predator action online before ever even buying my ticket.

Not to say there isn't lots of it..because there is. People complained about the characters and acting..."what the hell were you expecting?!?" when the only characters I even cared to see where the Aliens and the Predator.

Other then the acting "you know thats rather horrible already C'mon" I only had one real problem with the film over all.

I'm aware that "The Wolf" Predator as he is called is some sort of super bad ass. But even though me being a bit more of a Predator fan than an Alien fan...I have to admit he was almost TOO BAD ASS! Almost every Alien that touched him got torn to shreds before anything that would resemble an actual "Fight" can start. Its more like an Extermination than an actual battle....but even that is pretty sweet within is right.

But still...one of my biggest grips with the first film was that there was only one REAL fight between a Predator and an Alien in the entire movie! While there are plenty of Alien and Predator fights in the film, they all end almost as quickly as they start! Even the final battle between the Predator and the Hybrid Alien, although more then !!awesome!! "And realistic as stupid as that may sound" seems cut short and is over before the action ever seems like it really gets a chance to kick in.

I still enjoyed the movie, that much I can't deny despite my grips with it. And look forward to seeing the Unrated DVD when it is finally released.

I have read nothing but bad reviews for this film and i have to say it was in part a horrible film. I went into it only wanting to see the fight scenes and thats all i cared for. The fights between the predator and the many aliens were very cool. So if thats all you want to see check this film out. Other than that this film is a let down.
