This had me jumping in my living room!

The ghost is terrifying. The plot keeps you wondering what will happen to our leading man. You don't know why this is happening into midway through, and then you are stuck wondering whether to feel sorry for the guy or sorry for the girlfriend... or sorry for the ghost!
I love the ghost chase scenes.

I went - as so many other - into this one with high expectations, not surprisingly with all these positive reviews and so on... Well, I sat back with a disappointed feeling.

I mean, a great horror, in my opinion, is one from which you can't tell what's going to happen next. One, that not just will give you a few chills that lasts for five seconds. Maybe I'm just tired of the whole a-horror genre and all the grudges that follows with it, tired of all this repetition.

At times, the atmosphere is truly chilling and terrific and this is where the film comes to life, together with a nice payoff in the end. But this is also the only pros - not to forget a really nice toilet scene. LOL!

Nah, tell me when an asian movie that doesn't contain freaky grudges, flimmering tv-screens and loud screaming asian schoolgirls, comes out.

If you have not seen this movie, you are missing out on the very best the genre has to offer. Shutter is terrifying. It gave me nightmares. It made me afraid to sleep alone for about a week. Yes, it draws from earlier "onryō"(vengeful ghost)movies, but Shutter is head and shoulders above its predecessors. A must-see.

This magnificent film was going to be tested after top-notch Asian horror films like: "Ringu", "Ju-on", "The Eye" and "Dark Water". "Shutter" is yet another staple film in the Asian Horror sub-genre. From the opening credits, we are pulled into this film's atmospheric and creepy world. Feelings of dread and impending doom are ever present in this film. The directors of this film know what they are doing. There are some very shocking and hair-raising moments. And the ending of this film blew my mind. If you like this film, get the directors' follow-up "Alone" about separated Siamese twins. "Shutter" is one of my all-time favorite Asian horror films with my number one favorite being "A Tale of Two Sisters".

In some ways, this movie is derivative. It has many of the same plot devices and imagery you encounter in a lot of Asian horror movies. But what makes this movie different is the suffocating atmosphere that builds up over the course of the movie - very well done and definitely creeped the hell out of me! The ending also has a nice payoff, although a little downbeat but hey, that's par for the course with a lot of Asian cinema. Don't judge this movie by its American remake, which was such a piece of crap.

Way too derivative of other asian ghost movies. There was nothing new or fresh brought to the table. There was a plot twist here and there but it didn't make a difference to me... I didn't care about or have any interest in the films two leads or the ghost and her story/character. There was nothing truly scary or chilling about it. I felt like I'd seen all the "scary ghost" scenes before. I'd heard a lot of good things about it too. Big disappointment.

So if the grudge was done right then it would have been this movie. It was crazy!!! Watch it alone in the dark and you will jump! I'm a big fan of horror fims and I am good about calling the scary parts but I was caught off guard alot by this movie!!

The first time I saw this movie, I could not sleep and it was late at night. Worst idea ever. This movie was well made and executed. I was scared out of my pants. Ever since then I made I've made multiple people watch it. The US remake was not quite as good.
