This movie is the weirdest movie I've ever seen. At first I didnt like it so much but as I tried to dig deeper into the symbology behind everything in the movie it became really intresting. I dont know if I could recommend this movie to many people because it is slow and also nothing really happens for the most part. And there is almost no dialog. I feel like most of the movie is just a trip through his mind.

David Lynch at his unsettling best. This movie terrified me. And I don't even know why! It took some research for me to understand the plot. Apparently David Lynch got a girl pregnant around this time while living in Pittsburgh. (I think...its been a while) Then the film made a bit more sense to me. This movie is not something you want to watch with your girlfriend, or parents, or little brother or sister. It is truly disturbing. And I loved it. I suggest you turn down the lights, and pop this bad boy in on a saturday night, and enjoy the Eraserhead experience! (This movie is an experience)

You either love it or hate it.
You either "get it" or you don't.
It's a nightmare...a nightmare that some miserable sap is having after finding out that his ex just had a baby and claims that he is the father.
Of course, "They're still not sure it IS a baby", as the girl says.
"It's a little premature...but there's a baby" her mother adds.
For a super low-budget movie like this to have such an awesome special effect like "The Baby" was incredible.
It's phallic design (it spits white fluid right at you in it's first cloe-up!)and haunting cries will stay with you forever!
A very slow, nightmarish, funny and bizarre work- of-art.
Trip-out....!

it was like rolling around on the floor with stickers all over the place and loud jummpy music wearing nun outfits and saying prayers.

it's that wierd and amazing.

This film is straight up weird, disturbing, and pretty creepy. I didn't have a clue what was going on in the movie. Although for some reason I like feeling uncomfortable when I watch a movie like Eraserhead. So it was oddly good to me.

I hated this movie. I hated everything about it. It made me so uneasy with the unrelenting noise and disturbing images that I kept asking myself why I was still watching it. I supose that is the genius in it. No one in their right mind could say that they "enjoyed" this movie, yet you can't stop watching it. The odd part is that at times I found myself relating to Henry. Although some of the symbolism was nonsense (or maybe just over my head) at times I felt like I knew exactly what he was trying to say. Everyone should at least give this movie a shot. If nothing else it will at least be the weirdest movie you have ever watched.

Went in with no clue what to expect, started slow, ended up with my jaw dropped feeling slightly confused. All in all a good experience for me, after my brain stopped running in circles I knew I loved it.

What an amazing piece of art. Utterly pointless, yet extremely powerful. Dreamlike, trippy, and will make you uneasy. This is not at all an action film IN ANY WAY. If you do not appreciate atmosphere in a film this may not be for you. So those expecting something fast-paced, you will be let down. I find this movie much more powerful when viewed alone. Dunno why.
This is the ONLY film to ever make me physically un-easy and i LOVE IT!

I can honestly say that this is the first movie I have seen that truly and deeply disturbed me. It started off slow and I didn't think it would be that scary but after the first couple of scenes it quickly descended into a nightmare that I could not escape. The whole movie was like watching someone's worst fears come to life right before my eyes. All I can say is that any movie that can induce that kind of a feeling and maintain that atmosphere throughout is nothing short of a masterpiece. Try watching for yourself.

One Movie that is a paranormal phenomonon. This movie is one of a kind nothing like this could ever be made againg anyone who has not seen it should watch it. The Whole movie makes you feel like you are in a dream. It is one of the highest grossing midnight movies of all time. this just might be David Lynch' s masterpeace. If you havent seen this movie you should.

It always amuses me whenever I hear someone calls Napoleon Dynamite worthless trash, then they further to say films like Eraserhead—and yes, there are A LOT of films just like it—are cinematic masterpieces. I’m sorry, but both films are the same thing, just with different motives. I’ll never begin to understand how anyone can find entertainment, or even something thought-provoking, in literally watching people stare at things for almost two hours. I’m sorry if everyone who gave this film a positive score had Down syndrome, but simply do not have that attention span. And, honestly, I feel sorry for those of you who do.

There is very little about Eraserhead that is genuinely weird. It’s a surreal take on our daily lives, nothing more. All the scenes involve shots of the lead character sitting and staring at things in an attempt from the director to make us, the viewer, feel as if we’re seeing something weird. In actuality, there is not a single scene in this movie that is any more abnormal than what I see when I look around my room as I type this sentence. There are a few scenes, including the scene that reverences the title, where David Lynch apparently realizes the fact in what I just said and adds some generic surrealist moments. Black-and-white tiles, old ladies, trees, what looks like a waded-up crap—all the predictable surrealist imagery you can think of makes its way into this movie.

That leads to another point I’ve never seen a review mention: Eraserhead is NOT original. If anything, it’s more unoriginal than the big-name Blockbuster made by some director who has about the creativity of a dead tree stump. It takes no imagination whatever to think of something like Eraserhead. Gothic art has been done for centuries. All Eraserhead does is take the most generic of it all and puts it to motion. It’s a lot like a less diverse version of Vampyr. The only sole idea that David Lynch didn’t wholesale copy/paste from other artwork is the baby, and even that left me thinking about a few other movies with similar ideas. Eraserhead had zero originality, and next to no creativity.

The story isn’t something a lot of people feel worth mentioning because it takes last priority in the film. Most people will say the story is left up to the viewer to decide, but that’s completely ludicrous. Eraserhead has a very linear, predictable storyline that has been used time and time again in films and literature before. Because the story is so paper-thin, writing a single sentence about it would lead into massive spoilers, but I will say this. I fully expected the “disturbing” ending from the first 10 minutes. I would have been much more surprised/shocked if it DIDN’T happen. The events of entire storyline plays out exactly like a standard soap opera, and every single one of them is predictable. Again, Eraserhead is a sad lack of imagination.

The only thing I can actually complement Eraserhead about is the portrayal of emotion. The father-son relationship as somewhat compelling. The husband-wife relationship was interestingly and accurately portrayed. All the other relationships in the film were complete clichés, but those two stood out. But, then again, who really cares? I can see just as compelling relationships in real life, so why should I waste my life watching them in a movie that has no other redeeming value whatsoever? The effects of paranoia and nervousness are well-done, but, again, it adds nothing to the bland story.

Eraserhead is a waste of time. It takes an uninteresting premise and makes it even less interesting. As a work of Gothic art, it’s simply generic at best. The repetitious surrealism gets annoying very quickly. Eraserhead does absolutely nothing but make you wonder: “Why didn’t I just walk to the local nursing home and watch old people stare at walls? Same thing as watching this movie. And at least that way I’m doing the community good.”

Now I have not seen, Blue velvet, Twin Peaks, nor Elephant man. I have seen the rest of David Lynch's feature films, and this is in fact my personal favorite. Being that this is also his first feature film, means that I was that much more impressed. This film creates some of the most disturbing imagery and character action ever forced to film. From the decaying, sickly man who seems to be determining our lead character's future by pulling metal levers as if conducting a train, to the woman in the radiator gently cruning that "In heaven, everything is fine", to the alienistic conception our protagonist is forced to raise on his own, this is the most hauntingly enchanted film I have ever seen, and it is not to be missed by anyone who considers themselves a fan of the avant garde. This is truly David Lynch at his finest.

The scariest movie ever made, plain and simple. The visuals are outstanding and terrifying. This movie is the only movie that has been capable of giving me nightmares. I am purely mesmerized by this movie every time I watch it. This is truly a cinema experience to see for yourself.
