Wow. Just wow. I thought the first one was good, well this just proves, the British are kings of zombie horror! Amazing sequel, absoloutley amazing. 28 Weeks Later continous the story of the infected, with the amazing Robert Carlyle as the star, this action packed, gory horror has it all. Blood, guts, exploding heads, more blood. A perfect zombie thriller.
this movie is really brutal ... not as good as the original but there´se one scene that at least for me was, really great .. when zombies and humans are running in the streets and they shoot them ...

maybe not as good as 28 days later but definitely alot bloodier than 28 days later.
this movie was really brutal and just an awesome zombie flick.
the acting was great and the scares were endless.
check it out, your bound to enjoy it.
I thought that this movie would be the worst sequel to one of the best zombie flicks ever. I was DEAD wrong. This movie had everything, well almost everything that the original had. Its essentially 28 weeks after the original movie and the Rage Virus had taken to the streets in a rapid epidemic and Britain is on lockdown. With help from the US troops, they pose an equal chance to defend themselves while a family is being torn apart by these events and trying to get out of the country. But British scientists and US scientists may have found a cure to the Rage Virus.
It had great acting by Robert Carlyle, Mackintosh Muggleton and Jeremy Renner, which really made this movie work, the concept was dynamite and the post-apocalyptic Britain sets where amazing. At points it had me jump out of my seat with both jump-out horror and CG-horror and violence was superb. The actions scenes are masterfully done, effectively placing the viewer in the victims and the crazed, but still scarily human, zombies. It had sad, life-damaging scenes in the fact that a family is being torn apart because of this whole incident and beginning was beautifully done. The cinematic score and sound effects gave me shutters and whole thing was great. There where scenes (ie: the gas-bomb-car scene) that where brilliant but also quite frightening.
However, as much as I praise and love this movie I think that it did not have the sly humor or the character development as the previous movie, but aside from that, this movie is genuinely perfect. The emotions and the powerful disturbing images and cinematography really made this movie work, and the depiction of how human nature really is. In summation, I believe that this movie was one of the best sequels to a zombie flick since Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead.
I don't even know where to start, ohh wait yes I do. being the sequel to 28 days later I was not excited, because to me 28 days later was awful. Being a HUGE zombie fan I drug myself from home into seeing this in theater's. I was SHOCKED, within the first ten minutes of this film well I'm not going to spoil but it's a bloody good time lol.
Inferiour sequal in every way possible. Few movies have left me feeling as insulted as this one did. Every character in this film is destined to always make to stupidest decision possible. I reached the point where I was yelling at the TV out of frustration. So bad its dragging the original down with it!
good, bloody, edge of your seat, good zombies but its one of those movies that could have been prevented. your kinda yellin at the stupid kids for getting everyone killed.
CONTAINS SPOILERS OF COURSE:
the sequel is a good movie, good plot, good thrills, and good acting. you can tell sometimes that they upped up the blood in the film, with the infected seeming a lot more pure evil, and unmerciful, with the blood factor vary increased- in the first new infected kill after the containment, the infected man beats his wife to a pulp with his fists, smiles devilishly, bites her a bunch, and then gouges her eyes out, with a bunch of blood, and smiles again, smashing her head against the bed a lot, then leaves.
the second major gore scene is when all the civilians are taken into a room, and all the lights in the civilian areas of district one are shut down, they then switch to emergency lighting, but it is very hard to see. the boy andy hears banging on one of the doors, and goes to it too see what it is. it is his father, who was infected by his wife, and the starter of the new outbreak.
his father sees him, and breaks down the door (this whole area is crowded with hundreds of uninfected civilians). he starts biting people, and the lights flicker, as more civilians change, and they show close ups of infected faces and killing, with some blood. andy climbs over a carpet of screaming people, and hides into a air vent as the carnage insues, with huge amounts of blood, and soon all in the room are infected.
the third major gore scene is where the helicopter pilot that plays link in the matrix revolutions, swings down the copter so the blades hit the infected, slicing them up, and shooting pools of blood in the air.
the end of the movie has don, the infected man who started the new outbreak, biting his son andy (who is immune, and is now a carrier since the bite), and his sister tammy shooting don. she checks out andy, who asks if he's infected now. tammy stares at his face, and there's a close up of one of his eyes (they have different colors because of his immunity), turning red in an area of the eye (a sign of being in fected), and says no, your not infected to andy. they walk awhile, and the film fades out.
then the film fades in to show infected running towards the Eiffel tower in Paris France, and then it end
One of the early scenes of the dad (can't remember his name) running to the boat had to be one of the most epic things I had seen in a zombie movie at the time.
Loved this film and would recommended it to any horror fan.
I loved this movie. Lots of fun to watch and really enjoyed all the characters. I think the only think that I didn't really care for though was the close up cam of the infected...i guess to see through their eyes type thing. Just felt a bit cheesy. Other than that was great and im looking forward to a third installment hopefully with Danny directing again.
Though slightly subpar compared to 28 Days later, this film still managed to have an emotional impact on the viewer. I have to say the first 30 mins of the film has some of the most depressing footage I have ever seen in a film. Ever. The production was great, the story line decent, seeing as how danny wasn't behind the camera this time, it managed to blow alot of similar films out of the water. Its no 28 days, but it still, like i said, manages to have an impact on the viewer. Can't wait for 28 Months!
Completely unnecessary sequel to the original horror film transforms itself into a gore splattered and not as effective or unique horror film as it's predecessor. The film is better than it has any right to be but not as good as you would hope it would be. Ultimately bleak and dark but pointless.
Loved the first one, didn't really get this one. Could have done without it.
The real baddies in this one were the army and the government and not the zombies, and while those themes were interesting, I just didn't find it very scary.
This has everything the first had and more. It's gorier than the first and more action packed than the first. It basically follows one familys fight for survival in the streets of london! ITS FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!!!

Loved this movie. The whole thing was playing on real life "plagues" with people who, immune are carriers. total end of the world stuff. Too bad about the ending, left it open with a few holes....well guess i wait for the sequel.
This one is better than the original...had more goe and blood, better acting and a better story and characters but still isn't very high on the terror level...while the ending is intense i beleive it just copied (REC) in the end and they could have made the story so much more terrifying!! the movie was ok but what i really liked about this movie was the score.

This movie was awesome. I watch it all the time, just to give myself that hopeless, end of the world feeling that I crave.
Just so everyone knows, as few others have stated...
better than the first. dismal, upsetting, thought provoking, gory. these are always good elements for a zombie film.

28 weeks later was great zombie flick. It was gory and it had a few jump out surprises. Although I thought there wasn't enough violence, but that didn't bother me that much. It was still a good film, and that I can't deny. There was plenty of action and some scares here and there. If you are looking for a bloody, good time without going over-the-top, 28 weeks later is for you.
this movie reminded me of the dawn of the dead remake. it starts off with a lot of energy, but then significantly slows down after the first ten, fifteen minutes. liked it, just as i liked the dawn of the dead remake, but i didn't love it like 28 days later. i did love the opening run sequence, but as i said, the movie slows down quite a bit after that. and i just wasn't a fan of the whole, 'father zombie hunting his children thing.' what was that? all of a sudden the infected become conscious and self aware? and the father zombie evades the fire bombing, what the hell? i like my zombies walking or running. but NEVER intelligent, it goes against the whole mythology itself. that's the same reason romero's day of the dead didn't work for me, just can't stand intelligent or self aware zombies. though i will admit the helicopter chopping up those zombies was a smile inducing moment equivalent to cillian murphy thumbing that guy in the eyes in the first movie.
the great acting and directing save a script that felt as though the first 30 minutes were written by a man and the rest of it was written by a monkey
i mean lets face it this movie was only made to make money and to usher in the (sigh) inevitable sequel

This movie was 100 times better than the original and that is something to be proud of.
Storyline: They think its safe in britian so they slowly start trying to repopulate the place by bringing people in on planes when................BAM it starts up again the virus is back, its code red time and all hell breaks loose. 10/10
Acting: Just as good as the original. 10/10
Special Effects: The amount of gore and blood in this movie was a suprise for me, considering the 1st movie hardly had any violence in it. Everything looked so realistic from the infected vomiting blood to the awesome head shots. 10/10
Best Scene: When the helicopter blades cut up all those charging zombies, now that was some grindhouse gore. 10/10
Ending: London gets blown to hell from the military, now thats betrayal. 10/10
Overall this movie was like the original, just add in way more gore, suspense and kick ass epic moments and you end up with 28 weeks later. I give this movie 10/10
This is one of my favorite horror films. It shook me to the core it was just so frightening and intense. It reminded me of how scary horror films can be when done right.
Another sequel far superior to the original. I thought the first was more a survival drama where this one is survival horror. Great tension, gore and blood throughout plus **SPOILER** the napalming of London and the snipers shooting from above picking off anything that moved were great set pieces **END SPOILER** I would love to see third outing but if that happens they should make it the last.
A review I saw in the paper where I live described this as "the Apocalypse Now of survival horror movies". I completely agree. This movie was very scary and had the tension level turned up to 11. I saw it opening night with a packed theater and everybody was really into it beginning to end. Ever notice there is always a few in a theater that go to horror movies just to make jokes during the scariest parts. Even they were speechless. Great story, great acting, great movie!
One of the grossest couple kisses I've ever had to watch. The helicopter scene is sickly fun. The plot isn't unexpected, but a step forward from 28 Days Later.
I consider myself a massive critic and if one little thing that bothers me at the beginning of a movie i will instantly dislike it. this movie did have the scary element in it in my opinion, you just have to imagine what you would feel like if you were in the character's position. this is one of the few movies that can make me feel a wide variety of emotions: fear, disgust, sadness, and joy. The best part of the movie was the beginning..... when the small cottage got attacked i felt amazed, frightened, and impressed with how the infected looked and acted, they were so scary and disturbing! the red eyes, blood all over, speed, force, and the weird blood throw up barf thingy(i saw this before i had heard anything about it, or seen the first one so i didn't even know that it was a zombie-ish movie, so when the infected first appeared i almost pissed my pants). the coolest scene in my humble opinion was when Don was running to the boat after the "cottage attack", the combination of sadness from him leaving Alice, the fear from the infected, the adoration for the lovely scenery, and the unbelievably amazing music created by John Murphy made an "awe inspiring" feast for the senses. much much better than the first for many reasons. more interesting characters, more chaos, better plot, better opening scene(pulls you in faster and more effectively), chilling environments, and it all together just makes an epic feeling film. oh, and no stupid "sex crazed soldiers, if your that desperate just rape the gay cook". great gore, actors, plot, music, graphics, scenery, minimal CGI, its a nice change from American movies with a British movie that was actually good!, and sound effects. i like how the infected didn't just go up to you and try to eat you, they try to beat the crap out of you and then eat you(which i guess is why they call it "the rage virus")way to go after the French! wouldn't the U.S. military be faster to react in retrieving the kids crossing the river to go to their house? why don't animals get infected? why don't infected eat other infected? why do zombies never eat themselves? if the infected can survive getting chopped in half by a helicopter why can't they survive mustard gas? would an infected squirrel throw nuts at you? why did the infected use the hand railings on the stairs going into the subway station? why do the infected always barf? if zombies and infected can live through being chopped in half, why can't humans? do zombies or infected have to go to the bathroom? if they do, how? if a zombie or infected gets chopped in half and has no more stomach, does it still try to eat people? would zombies or infected attack each other? do the infected get fatigued? how much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood? we may never know the answer to these questions.... great movie i loved it, just went out and bought it. twice as good as the first. half of why i liked it was the score. hope the third one happens. P.L.U.R. Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. ^o^

Almost as good as the first. I liked the troops sniping people from above. Once again children are to blame for the death of hundreds. Acting was mix, Carlyle was awesome and most everyone else was ehh. I would probably give a nod for others to see this, I would most likely see a third if they make one.
I will admit I was very secptical of this film when it first came out but after taking the time to watch it I was impressed. The opening sequence was hard to sit through, similar to the opening of the remake of Dawn of the Dead 2004 minus the tension. But the acting Was good especially Robert Carlyle but when is he not brillant? I enjoyed most of the film but was more then disapointed by the ending. The gore was average and the violence was well violent but there was really nothing overtly special about this film. I give 28 Weeks Later 6 rage infected monkeys out of 28 rage infected monkeys.
My only major problem with 28 Weeks Later is that there is nothing to separate it from the hundreds of other zombie movies, or in this case wannabe zombie movies, because the zombies really aren’t zombies. Every single scene in this movie I’ve seen before. The virus-that-turns-people-into-zombies plot has been done more times than a dried-up hooker. And that is it. The movie doesn’t try to take the sub-genre any further than it already was back in the 60s, and it doesn’t attempt to add any intelligent twist to the formula. It does nothing that hasn’t been copied and then copied again.
What I just mentioned is why, even with all the well-done action, I really just wanted to turn 28 Weeks Later off and go to bed. It bored me because it was predictable, unoriginal, and exactly like the other zombie movies that bored me to tears. Yes, 28 Weeks Later is far superior to bore-fests like the remake of Dawn of the Dead, which had less zombie action than god-forsaken Juno. But at the same time, 28 Weeks Later bored me just as much because it copied scenes from that remake, and copied scenes from every other zombie movie—I, and most likely you as well, have seen every scene in this movie before. Every last one. Any supposed intensity is zapped out due to this fact, because you know who is going to live and who will die—the scenes are that predictable.
The other problem is the atmosphere. Or, more accurately, the problem is the fact the movie doesn’t even attempt at creating a solid atmosphere, which would have helped it out a lot. The reason Cloverfeild and the original Alien were both so effective was because they understood how to create the perfect doom atmosphere. But while cliché movies like 28 Weeks Later will take up an hour of screen time to set up a drama behind the flat characters in order to give them characterization (which never works and didn’t work here either), it never takes time to create atmosphere, which would be much more effective. There was no suspense. There was just the predictable: open with action, take an hour for drama, have the most action, then end with a cute, trite ending. So many directors/writers think that is the only way to develop a movie, but they’re wrong. Let me repeat myself: they’re wrong and cliché and pretentions and know nothing about good storytelling. I wish someone in the movie business would understand this.
Technical aspects are amazing. The flash-cutting isn’t done as well as in Saw, but it’s a lot better than I’ve seen. The movie has one of the best soundtracks, and best use of its soundtrack I’ve heard in a long time. The style is also pretty cool. And, I’m shocked to say, this movie had enough blood to actually earn its R-rating, which made me happy. There isn’t a whole lot of violence/gore, but what is there is very nicely done and bloody. It’s sad, however, to see all these nice aspects go into such a pointless movie.
Can no one take zombies and do something original with them? I can name several video games that have, but I guess movies are really just dying out.
So, I bought 28 Weeks Later for $3 in the bargain bin. Was it worth that? I guess. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was bored enough to shoot my eyes out.

the sequal to my favorite zombie movie of all time. and to say the least im wasnt dissapointed.
This was a decent movie. The first one was a lot better because of the indie movie feel. There is just something I don't understand about the connection between the mom and son. I don't want to spoil anymore than that. But overall a good movie.
"I believe 28 Weeks Later did appreciate as a sequel (with only a couple very minor depreciative concepts), and that was a surprise.
I'm admittedly a zombie film fan (especially the serious, non A-Team variety). And although the Rage virus in these two films does not produce an 'undead' zombie, the 'infected' nevertheless present a similarly formidable and threatening antagonist. If you haven't seen either film, Boyle's 'infected' are far less like the traditional lumbering Romero zombies, and closer to the Zack Snyder zombies of 2004's Dawn of the Dead. Note that if you were able to get away with seeing 28 Days Later as a date movie, you may not pull it off with 28 Weeks. There is very little breathing room, and some of it is more disturbing and far less bridled than you might be expecting, especially if you are used to the character-based 'safety' of most films.
Unlike 28 Days, a flashpan start to 28 Weeks Later sets the tone for the entire film... Which although short in running time (at just over 1:30) with quite a fast pace, still seemed very much long enough to be perfectly enjoyable, especially for any fan of the genre. Other than a brief, but informative back-story conversation near the beginning, there is almost no down time spent (wasted?) on emerging relationships or overly granular side-stories. Overall the most powerful element of the film isn't really character based, but rather the theme of a terrible pandemic that, besides a small twist, isn't much changed from the first movie.
There is one facet of the film that I did not really appreciate, but can't really detail without a spoiler warning. Let's just say that London is a fairly large playground for certain (coincidental?) events to happen (and not just once). However, there's a possibility I may be missing some concept that made these events intentional--I hope it's some twist of the virus and isn't just star power.
I'll be purchasing the DVD, but probably won't offer to watch it with any of my family and couldn't recommend it as a party movie." --Zor Prime, imdb.com
Love this movie....but i just dont get why that guy had to kiss his wife when he knew she was sick. Seriously they just got rid of all those infected people then he had to kiss her then next thing you know BAM more infected people . none of that would have happened
28 WEEKS LATER succeeds as a sequel by taking things in a different direction, while trying to remain true to the original (we already know about the effected population as "zombies", but not enough about the virus) ..... It's one of the better horror movie releases (compared with too many watered down PG-13 crap that's getting released) ..... but take it like SHOCK TREATMENT ("it's an equal, not a sequel"). IF there's going to be a 3rd movie it would logically have to involve all of Great Britain being quarantined, how to keep anything infected from leaving (i.e. shutting down the Chunnel), how to remove everything left that is infected (i.e. blowing up the whole Country?) and where to relocate the survivors after they've been cleared of infection (i.e. a large number of refugees not being welcomed by other Countries)!
yo people, there are NO zombies in this series, it's a fact. Not once does a corpse reanimate in either of the 28 movies. I just need to clear that up.
anyways, good movie.
Not as great as the first one but still a good movie. It does a good job of keeping your attention. More action-packed than the first but it still had a good storyline.
This is one of the ones I hold dear in my collection. It is a great movie that followed the first one amazingly. It had a touch more of the Hollywood affects than the original but with a movie this creative and as good a follow up to the first one, you cannot go wrong. Granted I liked 28 Days Later a little better but it was pretty much based around the fact that it felt like an indie film and it was done beautifully. Aside from the first one 28 Weeks Later had one of the most heart chasing intros to a movie in a long long time. See it now. - MyOwnAutopsy

After seeing this I decided that I'm getting tired of zombie flicks. The thing never changes, a group of people against the zombs and a let's wait and see who wins kind of attitude let's hope there's not a 28 years later. ( I think Jeepers Creepers has that idea allready)
It is kinda like the Alien series. 28 Days later, like Alien was more or less a suspence, and this movie, like Aliens had more gunfire and combat, but at the same time it was truely horrific. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, and should be up there with the greats.
I saw this movie twice in theaters I loved it so much. I luv everything about this movie. the soundtrack gives off this sense of class even though theres some crazy gore going on. Much better than the first movie
Now this is what I call a horror movie! The original was good, but this was something else. It stood on its own two feet, the director was more sure of where his strengths were and used them to full effect. The fact that it was filmed on film made a huge difference and gave the film a professional feel. I can't recommend this movie highly enough... it was superior to everything I have seen over the last six months... and it was British!
Very good, satisfying movie. While there are many similarities between this and it's predecessor it still manages to be very much it's own movie. More exciting and fast paced than the original with not quite as much character development. Highly recommended.
