Amazing, amazing, ahh-maay-zing! Maybe I just liked the gore. I actually watched this movie before I had to go for surgery a few days later. And trust me, I was terrified of the operating room at the end of this film. So, it must have been good in many ways. One of the best films I've seen during a Horrorfest, in all honesty.
I'd heard a lot of good things before watching this film and i must say i'm incredibly dissapointed by the film. I just thought it was incredibly all round poor, the acting and screenplay were incredibly poor, it just follows the aid old addage of the stupid kids making increasinly more stupid decisions as the film progresses. I just kept thinking all the way through, why doesn't it strike these kids as odd there is NOBODY else in the hospital !!!! Its just it ruined the film for me. Robert Patrick aswell just seemed so half assed in the film like he really couldnt be bothered and had only done the film for the paycheck.
ok so the film is not great BUT i dont think its the worst from the after dark fest, its perfectly watchable and far better then other films in the genre such as Unearthed. It's worth noting aswell the gore is fantastic theres buckets of it and make the film a lot of fun. Theres an especially cool gore scene with organs from the ceiling

I feel like I am in the minority on this movie as I really didn't like it. The plot was clumsy and predictable and the acting was brutal. The only defining feature for me was how real some of the effects were. And it was nice to see the guy from T2 getting some work.

I thought this movie would suck. But I was proved wrong. This simple plotted, gore fest of a horror sets a group of American friends, that run into a mysterious ambulance after a crash. They are taken to a mysterious hospital, and are picked off one by one, and the remaining character hunt for there buddy, among the crazy doctors and nurses. Autopsy has a simple plot, and great, gory action, but like all these movies, the acting isn't that great. The gore, as I said before, is wonderful. A really, gory, guts and bones movie.
8/10

WTF did I just watch. Holy shit that was disturbing...but awesome, gory fun fast paced film. The acting was decent, the gore was off the hook. And if your all film buffs can u name the movie where the SPOILER
face bashing scene is from. Hit me up in an e-mail....

Picked this movie out of random on OnDemand the night my plans fell through. Figured it was going to be cheesy and boring, grant it that it was, it was better than expected. The gore in it was WAY entertaining (especially the suspension scene), and the fact it took place in a hospital, which movies tend to put me on edge more when they are even when you add the retro style to it, made it that much more enjoyable. Out of everything you look for in a movie these two things are the only good things about it. The acting in it was boring and not very convincing as well as the fact that the creepy ones roaming the hallway always look good and scary until they add dialogue, the gore is great but the blood could be more...RED, and the whole purpose as to why this is all happening still eldues me. The above mentioned excluding the acting aren't too big of a deal but can still make a difference in this. I liked the gore, I liked the enviorment, a moderate level of creepiness and some original scenes for a change but all in all if you don't have any extra money lieing in your junk pocket but want to watch a decent scary movie this evening just go with this. I could say I like it.
Wow if you thought Hostel was gory and vile wait until you see this crazy and sick puppy that was like the movie Turistas on steroids! This film didn't have much of a strong story or great acting but it did keep you on the edge with its jump scares and over the top gore scenes that will definitely please gorehounds! Other than that though it was mostly ridiculously outrageous and nothing really that special as far as originality goes and it could of had a better closure to it all and answer unaswered questions but maybe that means there will be a sequel coming soon. Overall it's not for all tastes especially not for the squeamish and definitely not a must see but if you love gore in your horror movies this is for you!
This is a huge HELL NO. the only reason i had ANY enjoyment with this film is because a friend and I gave all the characters nicknames and made fun of the whole time , like "blood guy", "nosey girl", "50s woman", "punchy" (guy who punches girl), "that guy from nip/tuck", etc. this film was horrible, the acting was bad, cinematography was bad, the "effects" were bad, there was really nothing great about this film minus the nicknames we gave people and making fun of it, seriously, reincarnation was probably better than this film, but I guess I still have to decide whether this or Perkin's 14 was worse, it's a hard decision.
This film was alright. It did have some good gore and did a nice job when it did try to use humor...guy with a tray of bodyparts and a cop. While this was not the best film I have seen as of late, it was certainly not the worst and had it moments. This was the third of the horrorfest films I have seen and all three are better than the original lineup from last years horrorfest, not including Frontieres.
This story for this film could have went in many directions, but chose to do a straight up hack and slash. The production values were awesome and I really loved the little homages payed to other horror classics that obviously influenced the director.
some people are saying not to listen to the "good" reviews for this film, but it was actually pretty good, especially for a lower budget horror fair. the gore was GREAT, and it was just a pretty fun movie. loved the campy acting, especially from Jenette Goldstein (she played Vasquez in Aliens and was the mom in the beginning of Terminator 2). check this one out definately worth a rental.
Autopsy doesn't try to be above average in any department but it does bring a couple fun kills and genuinely funny moments to your home theater. The one major issue with this movie is the audio mixing. Like most bad horror films the musical score is WAY too loud and the dialog is too soft. You find yourself trying to find a balance for the scene that wont blow out your speakers incase of a jump-scare; and there are a jump-scares in this movie. Even if the story is full of implausible circumstances you can turn off your brain and still enjoy the ride of Autopsy. Michael Bowen does a good job of playing a nutcase. Who at one point steps into a hallway with Jessica Lowndes running down towards him. Michael Bowen winds up for a punch and clocks her right in the face. Its hysterical.
When i finished watching this movie the first thought in my head was what the fuck did I just watch?? Autopsy is a menacing horror film along the lines of hostel, saw and, turistas and way better than frontiere(s) was.
Autopsy at first seems like a very normal slasher that will be full of jump scares and cliches. If you think that you are wrong.
After a terrible car accident 5 friends take a ride to a hospital along with the guy they accidentally hit. One by one each of the friends het called for an examination unexpecting the horrible fate they are about to recieve.
The actress who played Emily was extremely good in this movie one of the best actresses in a horror movie in awhile. The best performance to go with this would be Jennnifer Carpenter in Quarantine and, Jordana Brewster in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
The special effects in this movie are amazing for every death and are extremely hard to watch. The most hard part to watch when you see what happened to Bobby at the end of the movie and when Emily smashes that guys head in with the fire extinguisher.
The last 30 minutes of this movie are extremely hard to force yourself through and unrelenting in what happend...I'm wont spoil anything else just go out and rent or buy (i'll buy this soon) the best afterdark horrorfest movie made!!
I really didn't care for this film. It was pretty pointless, boring and just not that great of a film. I would not listen to the good reviews that this film got, it doesn't deserve more than 3 out of 10 skulls.
I have to admit, that I only watch about 4-5 of every year's "eight films". The reason is that almost all of them are terrible. Out of the first two seasons I only watched one movie I liked (Frontier(s)). I think maybe there is only one movie each season that is good. (Don't bitch, remember, I haven't seen them all.)
Autopsy was the first film I watched in this year's batch and, if my theory is correct, I'm going to be disappointed with all the others.
This was surprisingly good. No, it wasn't a spectacular movie. It at many times felt like a Sci-fi Channel Original", but what it did right, it did incredibly right. The gore was good, the villains were good, and admittedly, the idea was good. And Clare's sequence made me laugh harder than any movie I've seen in the past year.
Not too much to write about after that, but I do want to add that I watched the alternate ending to the film and this is one of the few instances when they chose the right ending. The alternate was the easily foreseen drivel I was expecting. Kudos to whoever made the choice for this cut.
Be prepared to endure. Because this film is an endurance challenge. It's very scary. The concept of a fake ambulance picking you up at an accident when your at your most vulnerable and than being taken to a fake hospital where the staff is conducting experiments on you is really terrifying. And the film is so suspenseful and so gruesome. it's just ridiculously hard to watch especially towards the ending. Only two things trouble me the weird ending felt a little incomplete and the performances are kind of weak but not enough to truly effect the film. A crazy ass watch. Enjoy!
I always look forward to slasher films, but this one was interesting in a way. There was a purpose to the killing and organ harvesting, but not enough was explained with the other hospital patients, such as the part when the blonde chick stops the boy who had cut himself. He just showed up randomly. There were many scenes in the movie that served no major purpose and some where one of the convicts should have been killed. The real ending was so much better than the alternate ending in the Special Features section. The movie had an interesting scenario, but when I was in Blockbuster one day, I was reading the back of a horror movie from 2006 and it said that teenagers checked in at a hospital that didn't really exist and they would have to fight for their lives and BLAH BLAH BLAH. Overall, I think that the movie was okay, but good for a Horrorfest slasher. This was not better, however than Dark Ride in my opinion because I love the masked slasher scenario more than the multiple antagonist scenario. Overall, I'd rate this movie a 7/10.
This movie was not bad, considering that Horrorfest films are usually crappy. Bobby's internal organ "carnival" was pretty interesting. The gore was nice. Some scenes were just random and didn't really serve a purpose. Other than that, it was O.K.
I thought that this years horrorfest was going to completely dissapoint me. Autopsy came through. The first 10 to 15 minutes I thought this was gonna be dumb as hell, but it shaped up quickly. Robert Patrick really sold his role. I really liked this movie. Probably going to be the best of this year, I am waiting for another horrorfest movie to be as good as the gravedancers. I just saw that movie yesterday, and I gave it i think 7/10 when I reviewed it a few days ago, I missed some shit the first time, I give it a 9/10, would have gotton a 10/10 if it wasnt for the VERY end with the ghost head chasing them, I didnt like that too much. But that was probably the best horrorfest movie yet.
Awesome gore (hey, I expected no less from Gierasch), but overall I was horribly disappointed. Off the wall, crazy ass story with a bunch of throwaway characters. Most of the movie, I was either saying "Damn, you're an idiot..." (I dunno, when I call for a cop, I usually approach them, not stop and wait for a murderous jackass to come up from behind) or "What the fuck..?!" (Um... just what the hell was up with the scene with the beaker of spinal fluid?) Aside from said gore, there really wasn't much here I hadn't seen in some other movie. If this was this year's best film in the Horrorfest, I feel bad for the rest of the bunch (And I'm usually such a huge supporter of these After Dark 8 Films). I really expected more from the folks who had Frontier(s) in the lineup last year than this lame shit.
WOW! THat is all I can say concerning Autopsy. This is a fast paced shocker with gore, laughs, and a wicked ending. Horrorfest kept this little beauty from us for to long. Even better than my previous 09 favorite From Within. After three films, I'm sorta psyched for the next batch. Look for this one. You'll be happy you did.
I enjoyed this one alot, It had good pace to it, the gore was off the wall and I enjoyed the cast as they were able to carry the movie from start to finish, It was nice seeing robert patrick again in a movie, his part as the violent, murderous doctor was brilliant. I love the head crushing scene where the fella had his jaw completly crushed to oblivion. I recommend this movie to any one who just enjoys watching a simple gory movie.
Gierasch as a writer is usually all over the shop but his directorial debut is great fun. Though some of the young cast are typically bland, Jessica Lowndes is a likeable heroine and he was smart enough to center the movie more on the bad guys, all played with barely concealed relish by great character actors Patrick, Goldstein and the sorely underrated Bowen and Lasardo. Whilst the Argento esq lighting and occasionally inventive gore serve more to entertain than unnerve, the film has one key image during its finale that is quite simply stunning (You'll know it when you see it), causing what is essentially a friday night six pack movie to stick in the mind far more resonately than it probably has any right to.
This is probably the best one of 8 films to die for that I have watched thus far. It was actually a guilty pleasure of mine to watch the gore and torture scene esp. with the manual drill to the head--Ouch! I was also glad to see Robert Patrick reteam with the actress from T2--I thought that was funny. Anyway the gore was awesome and though it is a bit typical, it's definitely not disappointing. A must see.
Another film that starts off with interesting stuff for the first 10 - 15 minutes then pretty much
becomes average and predictable, riding on the fact it has a ton of gore, which may satisfy the gore hounds
but with little intellegence invested in a plot, it's just not enough to splatter blood and be a good movie with
only that offered, fans of the ridiculously over gore'd and little plot films of the saw parts 3,4,5 etc might be
silly enough to buy into this film and find it "good" but I dont, not at all.
One of the gorier films of the three I had the chance to see, and sometimes hard to take seriously, "Autopsy" ended up a pretty good movie. The begginning was a little bit shaky, but ended on a high note. Even if this is not one of the 8 films anyone plans to see this year, I would recommend reconsidering, simply for one of the most asthetically interesting and gory scenes I've seen in a horror. The scene between Billy and Emily was definately the best of the movie.
This was the third and final of the HF films I had tickets to and we definitely saved the best for last. While I agree loosely with Dave, I actually think this was considerably better than The Abandoned and right in-line with Frontiers if just fractions more predictable. There was no shortage of blood and gore and Robert Patrick really sold his medical examiner role. There were parts I laughed (probably for all of the wrong reasons), there were squirmy parts, and it was overall a great time.
