The first J-Horror I ever saw (not counting the Ring and Grudge/Ju-On remakes), and the movie that got me into the sub-genre. While my friends didn't obsess over it nearly as much as I did, I still thought it was an amazing movie.

This was a really fun movie. The set-up was great and there were plenty of enjoyable gore scenes once it got moving.
This film was really good. Kept me fairly interested throughout the somewhat drawn out beggining but it hits you in the next 30 minutes and it never stops.
I’m not really sure what there is for me to say about Infection. It’s not the best Asian horror movie out there, but it’s probably one of the better ones that I’ve seen. It is never once stale, boring, or predictable unlike the faux masterpieces of the subgenre (like Oldboy). Though I’m not sure I’d call Infection really original, it certainly isn’t like any movie I’ve seen before.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of Alien due to the green hue over some of the film and the near-perfect execution of the doom atmosphere. It has some moments lifted from The Shining, such as the dog-masked boy, but it doesn’t go overboard with the idea. The overall tone is fairly consistent and well-done. The only major technical complaint I had was the horrible production value, as with all Japanese movies.
As far as the plot goes, it’s pretty straightforward. A lot of the reviews on here are stating that this film is confusing and twisted, but not really. If you’ve seen another Japanese movie, you know the way they tell stories, and this is no different. The plot twist in the end was pretty neat, too. A lot of it plays out like an H.P. Lovecraft short story, in that the characters all have problems and there are a lot of weird conflicts going on at the same time as the main one. It was a very interesting take on the overdone zombie films, as well.
Overall: worth watching. It’s a lot better than a lot of the crap out there—Japanese and American alike. It disturbed me a little, and it certainly isn’t forgettable.
