Being a gamer and a fan of the survival horror genre in general, seeing this movie was essentially my birth rite.
Too bad the movie is giant steaming puddle of goat diarrhea.
There's the occasional inside gamer references that are nice, but anyone who simply wikipedia'd the genre could have incorporated them. Lame complaint, but it's true.
Just a lame derivative slasher sort of movie in the blatant vein of Nightmare on Elm Street. "If you die in the game, you die for real!" Uh oh! Just don't play then, why not? Oh, cause if you don't play, the game plays for you? Well, that's highly inconvenient and retarded.
Frankie Muniz as the uber nerd was just plain hilarious though. Sure he looks the part I guess, but man, Frankie may as well have turned to the screen and started pleading for someone to let him out of this crappy movie. "I only did this cause it's the only role I could get after Malcolm in the Middle! Heeeeeeelp!"
I can see this as going down as a sort of shitty cult classic, especially among gamers, but that will never make it awesome, let alone tolerable.
I actually enjoyed this movie... the UNRATED version. The edited version came on TV and I just couldn't sit through it, I guess that's why it got such bad reviews... because they cut out everything that MADE the movie. Not bad though, it had the creepy elements, and it does kind of make you a little nervous to play your Resident Evil's and Fatal Frame's.. great movie though. I found it to be entertaining.
Before I even start let me remind you to never watch the Theaterical version of this movie, the Unrated is actually a decent movie unlike the horrible Rated Version. The new unrated version makes more sense and its gorier in a good way. Theres a whole new scene that make the movie a lot better. Overall the Unrated version wasn't bad and had a few good scares but as for the Rated version, big waste of money.

Unforgivably horrible. Did we really expect a "horror" movie starring Frankie Muniz to be anything but shit? I think this came out within months of 'Silent Hill' and both are equally abysmal. I mean, the poster has a FUCKING VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER on it. Awful.

Even giving this piece of crap 1 skull is still being generous. If I could give this movie 0 skulls I would. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The acting, my god, is so horrible I was 5 seconds away from shutting off the T.V. Everything about this movie was just crap. Not even one good scare or not even one good scene. Nothing. I had low expectations and I was still greatly disappointed. This goes to show you know one can make great PG-13 horror flicks, let alone ones about video games.
loved this movie. had a good story and it was based on a serial killer who has been kinda sweeped under the carpet

I liked this movie. It isn't the best piece of film I have ever seen, but it was at least entertaining. Plus, that game is badass! Hopefully they eventually release it as an actually video game.

I thought it was an interesting concept. I'm not a gamer but I know a few people this put a fear into for a while. LOL. I did find it entertaining and I plan on picking it up when I can.
As a gamer, I had to watch this movie.
Yes, it was totally unrealistic. That's the point. It also scared the hell out of me.
I don't think I touched my game controller for a week.
Hmm...I'm too sure exactly what I thought of this movie; it had it's moments and I really enjoyed the vibrating controler sounds when something bad was about to happen. It was a great idea with a hot young cast but it lost it's self somewhere in the mix! I loved Sophia Bush as a goth wicked HOT and Samaire Armstrong well I like her better in Rise. But as I said before it'a a good idea and a decent movie worth watching with a fatty and some chips! I give STAY ALIVE 5 X-box games out of 10 X-box games
Im giving this movie a 10. To me this movie was brilliant. It got me scared, it had good acting, the main idea of it was really good and i love this movie so im giving it a 10.
