just saw this movie today and i cannot believe how cheesey this movie is!!! the cheesyness is what made this movie....it was purposefully cheesy to make it funny!!! i applaud the attempt..other than that the deaths were pretty good and creative...worth renting if you havent seen it!!
I'm a big fan of the first one. The two sequels are fond memories of my adolescence. It's one of the last appearances by Isaac Hayes. I really wanted to like this movie.
Unfortunately the movie sucked. It has one of the worst scripts I've ever seen in a slasher flick. None of the characters are particularly believable, and plot holes abound. While a few of the kills were imaginative ideas, they are horribly executed with really cheap cgi.
I'll give Michael Gibney credit for a capable performance with Alan. The character's an unlikable prick and potential serial killer in his own right. He does manage to make the best of the badly written character though.
A lot of people are giving this movie grief for the wrong reasons. Yeah, the movie sucked but it sucked no worse than the original movie. IN FACT, I would call this the first true sequel. The over the top acting was hilarious and some of the death scenes were cool. If this exact movie came out a year after the original you people would love it just the same.
Oh and Isaac Hayes totally reprised his role as Chef from South Park.
My only real qualm was that I saw the end coming from a mile away. I want spoil it, but anyone who can spot a bad makeup job should be able to tell what I'm getting at.

this film was just crap. really bad acting, really bad script, really bad death scenes with a bigger budget and better actors it could of been good.
will leave the cheesiness for to the low budget 80's fims it does'nt really work in the 2000's

Terrible terrible film. The whole movie switched from lame kills to picking on an oversized annoying child that thought frogs were his friends. What was the plot really? Angela is the killer once again, but in this movie it was so arbitrary. She had no real connection with what was going on except playing drag as a male rent a cop. It also was no real secret that Angela was that little twerp.... god. Just a horribly made, cheap, amateurish, annoying movie from beginning to end with no purpose whatsoever for returning. Time to put this camp to sleep.....

The Original Was The Only Really Solid Sleepaway Camp Film I Didnt Enjoy 2 & 3 but This Return Makes Those Films Look Like Star Wars, This Was a awful mess of a film not because of the look or ideas of the film but the thing that kills this movie is the horrible horrible acting, I cant recall a film where I hated the lead characters more than this one.
Call Me crazy, but I loved this movies. The only thing I hated about it was that it was a sleepaway camp movie and there was no nudity. What's up with that?
I thought this movie was totally awesome should have been released after the first Sleepaway Camp but I guess that Robert didn't like some of the ideas that were thrown to him anyways I was very happy to get it from Walmart and that Felissa Rose came back as Angela.

This movie is misunderstood and under appreciated! I took a chance tonight after reading the negative reviews, and rented it from the Redbox. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by this!! It's a terrific tongue-in-cheek sequel to the original! It was great to see so much of the original cast come back, along with the original director. Matter of fact, I've decided to purchase this movie now, and set it next to my Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit. People who say that this "wasn't as good as the others" are clearly confused....do you remember how intentionally cheesy they were, too? Audiences nowadays want films to be more sophisticated and refined than the cheese of the 80's, but it's entertainment like this that I really, deeply miss. Welcome back, Sleepaway Camp!
I actually thought that this movie was pretty decent, its defienetly not better then the 1st one though and the ending i didnt expect

This movie was hilarious! It was a little boring, not much blood or gore really. But it was a good time. The ending was kinda predictable. But the scene with the sharpened broom sticking out of the whole had me in stitches!
I have only seen the first Sleepaway Camp from 1983 and it was a "unsettling" experience at that at the end. I saw this movie at my redbox and decided to pick it up. I thought this was going to be a cheap overrated movie with a low budget. But, to my expense, I was surprised at how much fun and cool the death scenes were and especially the bunk bed death scene! Many great death scenes, but overall besides that, the movies is really cheesy with the lines and acting. Overall, I think any Sleepaway Camp fan or any horror movie fan should see this movie.
It's a horrible piece of shit. One of the most DESPERATELY bad horror movies I've ever seen.

This movie ignores the Pamela Springsteen sequels, which is alright, though I did thoroughly enjoy them.
This movie is a lot of fun. However, the ending kind of leaves you scratching your head. If Ricky visits Angela every week, how and when did she get out of the institution? As far as I could tell, that question went unanswered. The death sequences were fun, and the main character, Randy, is the most awkward person I've ever seen. The movie opens with a bunch of people lighting farts, so that should give you an idea of what caliber film you are preparing to watch.
Pure camp, and I loved every minute. It's not Shakespeare, but get over it, and you'll have a lot of fun.
Thank god the last half of this movie saved it from one of the worst this year. I thought i was watching Drake and Josh the first hour. Stupid Movie......
I've been waiting a long, long time to see RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP, set twenty-five years after the original. Camp Arawak is now Camp Manabe and Ronnie(Paul DeAngelo) is now the head Counselor and owner. He works alongside Frank(Vincent Pastore of THE SOPRANOS) and a few others.
Just like the original, there is a new young victim being teased and for good reason, because he is also a bully. But after Alan the bully is teased, the tormentors begin to die off one-by one(one of the vitims is played by Adam Wylie, younger brother of ER's Noah). As the Sheriff, who I swear reminded me of Ned from SOUTH PARK(I was waiting for Jimbo to show up screaming, "It's coming right at us!), investigates and questions Ricky(Jonathan Tiersten) about Angela's whereabouts, Ronnie suspects that it is Angela and no one believes him.
The kills are great this time around, more elaborate with some including one that made me cringe(any guy would if they saw it). The twist ending was kind of unexpected, but welcome because of the return of a familiar character. Again, this kind of has SOUTH PARK written all over some of this with Alan reminding me of Cartman, the Sheriff reminding me of Ned and of course they have the late great Isaac Hayes as "The Chef"(coincidence?)
If you are a fan of SLEEPAWAY CAMP, the original, not the sequels, which I also liked, then RETURN is a welcome one at that for any die hard SLEEPAWAY fan! Now I am going to watch the original and RETURN as a double feature!
Happy Camping! :)

This movie owns. The deaths were great the only thing was they picked on the kid for way to long, it was getting tiresome and old. They could of done it to about 30 mins tops. Not 50 plus LOL.. but other then that it was well worthy of the originals.
But each has their own minds.
So I speak mine. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I hated it. It was definitely a gigantic piece of shit, but even moreso than was intended. I thought it lost every bit of the fun of the original. However, the deaths were completely worthy of the series, and the acting and dialogue were every bit as campy as the first three. For that, it scores some points.
I love this movie. If not for the clothing there is absolutely no way to tell it's not from the 80's. The kills are completely ridiculous, the kids are so brutally mean to each other, Oh! I could go on all night. Fantastic!
Apparently no one IS getting the joke, because this garbage was hilariously bad, and I loved every second of it. One of the most entertaining pieces of shit I've seen in some time. Don't understand a lot of the hate...well, I do if you hated the other films. For anyone that liked them, I definitely don't get the hatred towards this. The other Sleepaway Camp films aren't much better that this in the quality department.
