Loved this movie! Great mix of gore and laughs. Best line:
"So where do the black people hang around here?"
"From that tree over there."
Never seen the original H.G. Lewis version but I want to. Also looking forward to the sequel to this one which I hear has already wrapped production!

a great horror film indeed, but i prefer the original film better.
I expected so much more from Robert Englund and Eli Roth. This movie was horrible from the terrible acting to the ridiculous plot. Honestly, I don't see why so many people like this movie. It's probably the worst horror I've ever seen.
I had the… fun of watching a very campy movie known as “2001 Maniacs,” which I guess was a remake of the ’64 movie “Ten Thousand Maniacs.” It’s really about a group of college kids that travel to a small southern town for spring break only to find out that everybody that inhabits this town are psychopathic cannibals. I don’t know where to begin with this review.
First off, there were a lot of bloody effects and it was pretty gory. I enjoyed this, and some of the strategies used to ‘off’ the characters were pretty gruesome. The main problem that I had with this movie was that the horror and gore aspect of the film is overshadowed by the slapstick comedy, the crude redneck humor the terrible puns. Most people would find some of the puns funny but I found them campy and unnecessary and it was so over the top.
What I found a little displeasing was hw they viewed Southerners: there is a retarded kid that likes to kill cats, a young man who fucks sheep, inbred sisters, a dumbfounded black man and everybody seems talks in stereotypical southern lingo. I am from the south so I am a little iffy on that but I can overlook it.
This movie wants to be a horror comedy but it failed as a horror movie and I can only consider it as a comedy. Sure there is gore, some scares and a lot of deaths and cannibalism but I found myself laughing over ridiculous actions. The movie, of course for sex appeal, it littered with gorgeous girls who serve no purpose but as eye candy.
I have not seen the original one, I might have to so that I can compare them… but I could still watch this movie again and find it appealing as a dark comedy, but I cannot say that this is everything a horror is. If you like “Dead Alive,” “The Frighteners” or even “Shaun of the Dead” then you might like this movie.
This was an alright campy, gory, ride through the hill billy south with Robert Englund. I mean come on Robert Englund and cannibal jsut go together so perfectly :D. This movie was fun and all but it wasn't that great, it was just an okay movie and had some really cool kills/deaths and some weird ones (cough cough penis fly trap XD). Check it out if your in the mood and can stand some campy-ness and are lookin for a good time. 6/10!

i thought this movie was underrated all things considered, if you like endless blood and gore then you will not like this movie, and hey i like blood and gore, this was a refreshing look at horror with all the racism jokes and the slutty southern whores. this was a great movie
this movie is so retarded its good. it is the definition of a redneck horror movie. im giving it a 7

"Next year, no last requests"
This movie is a bad horror flick, and it knows it. It has everything a bad horror flick needs- bloody deaths, plenty of sex and boobs, major over-acting, and a sense of humor. It's entertaining, with a likeable cast, and like in many such cases, Robert Englund is just plain crazy good in his role (he has a way of making this movies better). Do not watch if your expecting some incredible piece of film, but if you want some good old fashioned southern fried horror, this is the movie for ya.

Some cheesy, but fun, horror, this is a great flick. No masterpiece, but very entertaining.
I can't believe this load of crap is generating such favourable reviews. It's so crap.

Now why can't we have more direct to DVD horror like this? Loved every nasty minute of it!

Terrible. I read the screenplay to the movie first, and let me tell you...the way this stuff played out on the screen was not at all the same as I had pictured it. A lot of the actually funny gags from the script were gone from the actual film, and some of the actors just didn't do a good job with some admittedly decent source material. Just bad.
I must admit that before the movie even started I thought this would be another craptacular movie I could add to the list. After viewing the movie I will say that it's actually one of the better horror films I've seen to date. Not only is the movie funny, but if you've enjoyed Cabin Fever then the cameo appearace from director Eli Roth is a plus. All I have to say is "FACED!!!"

This movie was another fun one. It had plenty of B rated horror, humor, and gore to keep most fans interested. Much like the original, but this movie for a modern day flick was good. I would recommend this to people who enjoy gore and nonesense in their horror movies and even if you didn't this movie would be hard to dissappoint.
