nothing to get excited about but fortunately far better than the horrible Hellseeker

Hellraiser 1,2,4,and 5 are the only good ones.

One of the better Hellraiser movies without the the touch of Barker. There is a lot to love about this movie if you are not looking for a Barker storyline. We get plenty of blood, an extremely tense moment in a bathroom on a slippery floor beneath a Kari Wuhrer with a knife in her back. This movie is on par with Hellraiser Inferno.

Extremely atmospheric, gritty, and interesting entry into the Hellrasier series. Best sequel since Hellbound. Yes, the story requires a lot of deep knowledge of Hellraiser lore, and even then, it is as abstract as one of Argento's fantasy horror films. However, all pieces of the story work well and fit well into Hellraiser, whether or not it started out as a Hellraiser script in the first place. The acting is excellent, and cinematography is bleak, yet gorgeous at the same time.

i actually liked this flick to a certain point. the point about pinhead somehow being connected to it. i would have liked to see the film as it was initially meant to be made, as a story that had nothing to do with the hellraiser mythos at all.

This movie was BORING. The acting, music, cinematography, and locations were great. The story is dull and overall boring as hell. The only good part is the last 10 minutes when Pinhead and the Cenobites are released from the puzzle box and kill 8 people including that guy who can bring people back to life after they die. This was one of the most boring and stupid movies I've ever seen in my life.

Hated this film genetic film with Pinhead thrown in it boring at a lot of parts gore was good better then Hellseeker and Hellworld but this is still a bad film only good thing was to see the Chatter cenobite return. not recommended.

Well, it's certainly not as bad as Hellseeker. If Hellworld is anywhere near that shite I'll be glad I've been through all the films and can choose to never again watch #6, 7, and 8 again.

Though just like Hellseeker, there was no need to call this a Hellraiser. The BD review says it best when it's referred to as a generic horror with Pinhead thrown in.

The acting was fairly alright throughout with some characters doing very poor 'I'm cool and mysterious' BS. The story isn't all that engaging, and the conclusion will not surprise, only confuse. I'm really starting to get fed up with all the 'weird for the sake of weird' in this franchise's later installments. When it's done well it's quite effective. For instance, the techniques attempted here (I'm awake, no I'm asleep, I'm alive, no wait I'm dead) are much better presented in a film like 'The Abandoned', a film where there is an actual payoff to the insanity. There is hardly anything I would call rewarding in the realization of the events in this film. Stuff happens that's purposeless and never explained. For a quick example: the main character is in a subway station and sees a man jump in front of a train to his death, but when the police investigate he's magically gone. This holds no meaning in the script and is perfect example a boring cliche that plagues modern horror. And far too many fake scares, turning on a flashlight to see poorly animated bugs on a wall aint scary.

Oh ya, the digital effects are awful. The chains look like crap (ya, in a bloody Hellraiser movie, they manage to fuck up the chains), though the practical effects are done well enough it just can't save this one.

Anyways, not the worst but far from the best.

This film was better than Hellworld, but it is still not a true hellraiser film. The story is really stretched to make it fit, which it still doesn't, into the hellraiser mythos.
I reccomend it for hellraiser fans for the sole fact tahat pinhead is in it, other than that it is crap.
