I thought this remake was better than the origanl got more of a story and bolood & gor. aslo thought for a teen salsher move it had great acting and alot of jumps an scarys for this remake horor film.
It's like an episode of 'Laguna Beach' with people getting killed. Which is kind of why I watched it in the first place. I wanted to see the people I hated in high school get tracked down and kills. But the violence is ungratifying and the backstory is stupid. The characters of the movie are totally unsympathetic, but the film plays them off like "everyman" horror victims. The whole movie plays like a bad MTV show and the main character is about as relatable as a brat from "My Super Sweet Sixteen." I just got left being really pissed off that her ass didn't get killed.
in my review for the original, i said i expected an actual "scary" version of "Prom Night", and this was not scary. it was suspensful i assure you, but it wasn't scary.
it was supposed to be a horror movie, but it wasn't. the trailer was just a strip tease to make you think it was a horror, and i'm pretty sure a man-who-falls-in-love-with-a-teenage-girl movie has been done loads of times.

As a remake and a slasher flick it sucks, but as a psycho/teen/thriller it isn't half bad. Sure the acting wasn't the best and it could of been gorier with a higher bodycount, but I thought it was a slickly made sometimes creepy teen thriller with a hot looking cast. It should of been a stand alone not a remake, drop the title and become its own movie. It has nothing to do with the original so it's not a remake in my book. I thought it could of been a little longer with more action and twists, but it's much more decent than people make it out to be and is much better than the Black Christmas remake now that you can bash. Overall not bad at all, but if they make a sequel make it darker with more gore and action and make the killer wear a mask to make it more suspenseful and if you want to call it a slasher because it's more of a thriller now. And for all of the directors out there please for the next slasher remake don't make it PG-13 beacause you will f it up, anyways I recommend this decent at best teen/thriller calling its self a remake to cash in.
this movie was a joke.
i hated this movie so much.
first of all, the killer was extremely lame on every level imaginable.
second of all, it was extremely far from being even remotely scary.
the acting was horrific.
avoid this movie at all costs.
i'm sorry to say, but i hated this movie. i really couldn't wait to see it because i love some of the chicks in it and i am a hardcore fan of the prom night franchise. ...but to my disappointment it is unrelated.
i guess what i hate most is the killer is just an average dude that anyone could take on. ...but nobody does. nobody fights back, and everyone is terrified of him...but he's just some average sized dude in a ball-cap...not really all that slick and not really psychotically brutal or anything to fear.
there is alot of explanation missing as to why he's obsessed with this chick and what their history is...and well, i just can't bitch anymore. i can't believe i sat through the whole thing. awful.
If you go into this movie expecting a teen thriller with slasher elements in it - then you may enjoy it. It appears a lot of people who hated this film hated it before they even saw it - so why bother watching it and then say you hated it? You already made up your mind, lol. Granted it did have it's problems, and it wasn't scary...but for a teen THRILLER, with a teen cast and a teen soundtrack - I enjoyed it. Much worse than this around.
very well done...silent applause for the makers of this film...if this film was to be remade then this is how it had to happen. sad that many people dont like it for stupid reasons...
i didnt think the film was as bad as described here on the site sure its not perfect and it is made for younger fans of the genre but i'd rather them being going to watch this then the latest Hannah Montana movie, on the whole not fantastic there are certainly better remakes out there but this isnt bad by any stretch of the imagination worth checking out, and i thought Johnathon Schaech did an amazing job as the killer
OK, it’s not terrible. The production values are reasonable, the acting was OK and the characterizations aren’t entirely cliched. But that’s the best I can say for it. Here’s the worst I can say for it: it’s just not scary.
There are basically three options for scariness open to a film like this. One: the supernatural. Two: gory, extreme nastiness like torture. Three: suspense and thrills, like lots of well-timed “boo” moment to make the audience jump. Most films use two or three of these options. “Prom Night” relies almost entirely on the third option, and for me, it fails dismally at it. Admittedly, I found it way too dull. Most of the “scare” moments are telegraphed way too soon and many of them are just silly.
And then there are the just plain dumb parts of the film. The killer stabs his victims to death with a short-bladed knife; each one gets multiple stab wounds, yet none of them bleed very much (because that’d leave inconvenient messes that would in real life get the killer caught too soon). The killer is remarkably passionless for someone apparently so obsessed. The cop drives clear across the city to where he knows the killer is going to attack next, but calls in no backup at all. And on and on.
A pity, because the film did have some potential as a psychological thriller at its beginning.
This was a decent enough movie for a watch. A solid R rating could have helped it with blood and some language. Prom Night needs to have a little sex cuz um thats what happens on prom night. Scared me in 1 part(closet scene). Decent enough acting, certainly not the worst of the remakes. Rent it if ya want...i bought it, but i buy alot of movies so....
I think if your going to do a PG-13 horror flick aimed at teens then this was great! No its not Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer but it was decent...and watchable.I don't see why everyone hates it so.They did what they could do with it being pg13.I think dana davis or jessica stroup should have been the leads instead of brittany snow.that girl bugs me but other than that I liked it.Plus its one of the few ones I can watch with teen girl w/o her mom going crazy on me.lol
This could have been a really good movie, but they blew it big time. With all the murders that go on in this movie it could easily have been a nice and bloody movie. Just about all the victims that were killed were killed with a knife. Do you have any idea how much of a mess that would make? The brunette female got stabbed twice in the stomach and it barely bled. It looked like she knicked herself shaving. Then there is the guy who got his throat cut. No blood there either. What a waste. No nudity either, not that that's a deal breaker, but it would have made up for the crappy effects.
Could have been a lot worse. It certainly wasn't the trainwreck I thought it would be, but I can see people looking at this film twenty years from now the way we might look at the original Prom Night. Niether of them are great films, but they were both cashing in on a formula and are painfully tied to the decade they were made in.
My full review here:
http://horroreffect.blogspot.com/2009/03/prom-night- 2008-high-school-slasher.html
Ah, corporate horror: an on-going discourse that never fails to seperate horror fans and pit them against one another. Personally, I don't believe that popular, large-budget horror films are always a bad thing. For example, I rather enjoyed the newest "Friday the 13th." I thought they did a fairly good job, but that's a whole other can of worms. "Prom Night," however, is a very strong argument AGAINST corporate horrow, and showcases everything that can go wrong with it.
It is clear who this film was marketed towards. There is no gore or violence whatsoever. The camera is pulled away every time something interesting is about to happen. What is a so-called "slasher" without some splatter? Furthermore, the killer here is anything but intimidating. He is a scrawny little guy with a baseball cap that looks like he stumbled out of the nearest sports pub. By no means does he instill the same feeling of dread that our pals Jason and Michael do. And then there's the body count. Any of those aforementioned boys could rack up DOUBLE this on a bad day.
Overall, this is movie is lame. It's slow, and not much happens. We watch a bunch of dumb teens stumble around a fancy hotel for an hour and a half. Every once in a while they throw a cheap, uninventive thrill at us by turning around and bumping into a lamp or something. Oh boy.
When all is said and done, here is another lemon from our friends over at corporate horror. This might get a squeal out of a couple of 13-year-olds on their first date, and I think that's what this film was intended for. It certainly succeeded. But let's be real: the original with scream-queen Jamie Lee Curtis is at the very least a half-decent, respectable slasher. This is not. I'm gonna go watch some Hammer now.
Prom Night is one of those remakes that strayed from the original. I loved it. It had young and up-coming actors, but best of all it was thrilling.
This type of horror is good because reather than focusing on the stab stabb kill kill factor it focused more on the charactors and plot. It had a modern plot that had style to it. It was elegent but fierce. The gore is something that i assume the director didn’t want as there was hardly any in it. Some death scenes were similar to the original and that was good to see.
When i saw this i was sitting there looking around and most of the people in the cinema were paying more attention to their mobiles than to the film. People were going to the toilet which showed that it didn’t interest them much, but for me this was a thrilling unpredictable film that should go down as one of the better horror films of late.
Brittany Snow brang as much effort as you can ask to her role of Donna. She had depth. Jessica Stroup was another actress that i think stood out in her role. I saw her in the 2007 sequel “The Hills Have Eyes 2″ but this brang new experience for her and i applaud her acting.
There were some scenes in this film that i just thought shouldn’t have been there. Although there wasn’t much actually deaths on camera i think that when the bodies were found a little more blood would have been realistic.
Overall Prom Night is a great film for the pre-teen/newly teen audiences. It was thrilling and was just fun to watch.
My rating is 4.5/5
its a so-so movie not bad not great, not a instant classic but not a horrible movie entirely, its just some thriller that will be just thought of as the remake in name only.
I understand that some movies start out slow but this movie never picked up. The death scenes sucked. The acting sucks. The best part of this movie was Johnny Cage from the Mortal Kombat movie making a cameo appearance.

If this wasn't a remake, then I am Harry Potter. I don't think it's the best thing ever, but like it or hate it, you still find yourself talking about it like I did. Two things I didn't like was 1: everyone was white and corny, even the blacks. I'm black myself and I have to say, the black couple cracked me the fuck up!! 2:the gore was lacking, all they had was Lisa's slashed throat displayed for like three secs. That dude really needs a hobby besides running after little girls, trying to date them. LOL!!

REALLY BAD. Didn't expect much going in but come on! That's all I'm going to say. rating won't give me anything lower than a two or I would have given it a -2.
Thankfully I can afford to be honest about this movie without the original having any bearing, since I have never seen it.
I decided to on a very shaky basis see what the movie was like. How I wish I hadn't.
The acting was in itself pretty ok given the script they had to work with, but the plot however has a very mediocre value. The killer in the movie never left me shaking, just merely wondering how we were suppose to fear him. And on the film alone I do not appreciate movies that take an hour or so to get to the "thrilling" part which for this movie was very seriously lacklustre.
I admit I could find fault after fault for this movie but for all the cliched, over dramatized writing for the movie there was in fact one bright spot.
The cop Detective Winn was played adeptly by Idris Elba. For a script and movie that had no real staying power he made the best of the movie and give what I believe was the most honest and down to earth performance throughout the entire hour and 25 I endured.
But that alone could not save a movie that for me used all the open cliches and tried to stay serious. If it had allowed some jokes pass through subtly it may have been more manageable but for my money and time it was a poor execution at best.
One movie I will not be venturing to see ever again. Poor at best is the only way to describe it. Not worth the time nor effort.
I realize this movie isn't the greatest movie ever made, but I thought it was very fun. Personally, I think the original is very overrated so when comparing the two I actually enjoy this version better. I gave this movie a score of 6, and I can't really defend it, because I admit the movie has many flaws & I can understand why people hated it. But I enjoyed it and I think others just looking for a fun movie may enjoy this one.

Cliche, cliche and more cliche..... Even the death scenes are corny......
There are 2 reasons why people hate it - 1. Because it's a remake. 2 . Because it's PG-13. Now 1. It's a remake in title only. 2. there is some gore in the unrated version. The movie was really suspenseful and fun. good story, good acting, a little scary. I was very entertained.

Possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Brittney Snow is a terrible actress. The movie is just so shitty, it actually pisses you off.
Posted By: horrorfan25 at 4:41pm, November 2, 2008
I say stay away from this remake and rent the original Prom Night. The 2008 remake sucked big time and I was an idiot for seeing this in the first place. The acting is so awful I actually laughed a couple of times. The scares were so poorly done that now it sends the message that as long as you have famous actors and a teen film it can sell. When in a matter of fact it can't. Honestly I rather you see the original Prom Night because that's even more better. Overall Prom Night sucks and it's embarrasing Sony took the film in the first place. Anyone who likes this trash is probably a teenage girl or they are a kiss up when it comes to Brittany Snow.
FUCK ALL OF YOU WHO SAID THIS MOVIE SUCKS I LOVED IT AND YOU KNOW WHAT I LIKE MORE BRITNEY SNOW I LOVE HER IM A SUCKER FOR HER AND THE REST OF THE CREW BUT MOSTLY HER SO I LIKE THIS MOVIE A LOT!!!!!!!
Posted By: WinterRaven at 3:15am, October 13, 2008
I went into this one hoping I would like it but in the end I was glad it only cost me a dollar to rent it. Paying anymore to see this flaming piece of crap is the real horror here! I agree with the hitcher it's not a horror movie at all and it was so very predictable that I ended up fast forwarding through a lot of it and I've told fellow horror buffs to pass on this and get the original if you can get your hands on it. This one was a waste of time and film. If I could give it a negative rating I would!

I really wanted to like this movie, but I have to admit: it's bad, very bad.
What a disappointment this was! I absolutely love the original "Prom Night" with Jamie Lee Curtis and so I really wanted to know what this update was all about.
The biggest problem I have with this movie is that it just isn't a horror movie! There's virtually no blood to be seen (not even on the unrated dvd!), I didn't feel any tension whatsoever and it was predictable all the way through.
My advise: check out the original "Prom Night" and it's three sequels, which are all masterpieces compared to this turd.
Not a very good movie but it kept me interested the whole time. The acting was good, and actually had pretty faces who delivered their jobs. It's definitely one of my guilty pleasures. I just wish they'd give us the gore and blood!

I remember screaming at the screen throughout this whole movie. x|
Totally boring, it has on eo two cool scenes, but nothing more.
This movie is a shame for all the slashers...
Posted By: stevodragisic at 8:50am, September 1, 2008
only one scene in the film looks to be a 15 rating. if the film were to drop that scene and gain a 12 rating it may have been a decent young teen horror. but because of the 15 rating i was disapointed and felt the movie could have had more.
The Jamie Lee Curtis slasher vehicle Prom Night was never going to win any awards. While most of the acting was quite spectacular and the general story was fascinating and at times suspenseful, the film suffered from uneven pacing and a little bit of the T.V. Movie syndrome. Despite its flaws, 1980's Prom Night was somewhat of a minor sucess when it was first released and the movie really does feature some great, suspenseful, and even frightening sequences. The ending is also an emotional tear jerker, a rarity for the horror genre.
The idea for a Prom Night remake is understandable. The original was decent, but not a slasher classic by any means. It was almost inevitable that Prom Night would get remade, but no one could have imagined how dreadful it would be.
Taking its cue from another tween oriented Screen Gems blockbuster When A Stranger Calls, Prom Night allows us to meet a bunch of semi-retarded teens who we could care less about and then introduce the non-threatening villan of the film, in this case, a scruffy teacher who looks like a male model wearing a baseball cap.
Now, I know what you're all thinking "That can't be too bad. Yeah, the characters aren't likeable, the killer won't scare me, and there will probably be no suspense, but hey, I liked a lot of 80's slashers that were just like that!" How soon one forgets that the reason, those films worked was because they had gallons of blood and nudity. Look at all the Friday the 13th films past part 4! What did they really have going for them? Award winning acting? NO! Brilliant plot twsits? NO! Edge of your seat suspense? HELL NO!!! They had lots of gore and naked teen bimbos and pot heads.
Sadly, Prom Night's teen friendly PG-13 rating has made sure that there will be no such trashy fun to be had here. It's just another dull exercise in safe, PC, "horror" films for Hannah Montanna fans.
Save yourself some time and money and just buy the original Prom Night on DVD if you're in the mood for a prom themed massacre. The DVD is pretty cheap, so you really can't loose.

The main problem with the movie was that it was PG13 and the trailer looked like watching some sluts and gay guys getting murdered by a killer who isnt even scary but i hated people who said it was going to suck but like people say dont judge a book by its cover but i would of wish i could of hated it before seeing this crap fest on my home because i didnt hated it not only because all of the characters were all cliche bitches but because the original was a excellent movie with gore and blood and at least tge original had any originality because with this one by seeing the trailer and reading the plot sinopsis you that donnas family got murdered by semeone who turned out be her teacher and 3 years later he escapes his mental institution and goes to kill her friends in the most non bloody way. Other thing i hated was how much tmes there were cheesy fake scares in the movie it like OH MY GOD DONNA IS LOOKING FOR CLOTHES AND FENTON APPEARS BEHIND HER THAT IS SO ORIGINAL AND SCARY PLEASE! and that fucking black shitty police officer i was like idiot what do you prefer watch donna and her friends to get murdered so donna will have the night of her life or wait to see if the guy appears and kills semeone to follow donna home DAAAA!Oh i almost forgot the horrible acting specially from the little bitchy britney spears of Brittany Snow and well i could say at you millions of errors that happened with this movie and yeah my username is horrordefender and i do apreciatte horror movies but this one really got into my nerves and its not scary, its not fun, its not suspensfula nmd please stop comparing these with when a stranger calls because this piece of shit doesnt even stands a foot agaisnt the other one so just dont even rent it because youll wast 1 hour and a half of your life.
Today I went to Wal-Mart and bought some beer and juice and some frozen White Castle burgers for dinner, then I came home and played Playstation 2 games for over 2 hours ,then I fed the cat and the dog and sat down to dick around online...and why the fuck am I telling you about my boring as fuck day? Because trust me it is way more interesting than this movie..and alot more happened too. This seriously had to be the worst fucking movie I've ever seen in my fucking life and i've seen every Uli Lommell film. This represents everything I hate about in life and in my movies rolled into one. Stupid spoiled upper class good looking brat teens who have the gall to sit in their fancy limo and complain about other rich kids and their money talking about stupid rich kid stuff like romance and love and stupid fucking things only tweens give a fuck about and what the fuck that one asshole was going to propose to his girlfriend? YOU"RE IN FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL YOU DUMB RICH KID BRAT LOSER!
..And to what enjoyment do I get out of films like this? Seeing stupid fucking bratty kids get sliced and diced and mutilated in horrible fucking death scenes with lots of blood and gore and even if thats skimpy we get to at least see some tits...nope..they didn't wanna go PG-13 with this piece of shit movie they wanted it to play on the WB Tv Movie Of The Week
Stay the fuck away from our slasher movies you scumbag tween Brittany Spears vagina sucking leeches..and leave it for the big boys..fuck you!
This movie wasn't great, but I've seen much worse. If you rent this with the new version of "April Fool's Day" then you'll love this movie. Some R-rated gore scenes and some T&A could have helped a little too.
Posted By: DarKnightmare at 10:14pm, August 11, 2008
Never seen the original but this one is really good so I can just imagine how the original is. Can't wait to buy the UNRATED edition on DVD.
This film is easily one of the WORST horror films of 2008. It is a big middle finger to those who watched it (like me & my girlfriend) and to those who want to see a film that won't waste their time. Not only that, it is slap to the face to the horror genre itself. If you haven't seen this movie and are planning on it, don't! If you still want to see it, expect to be laughing at how awful it is.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu this was a really crappy movie it was like seeing shes the man cross with horror
Alrght, I know everyone hated this movie, but I personally loved. Haha, I'm a sucker for Brittany Snow, but the movie was great on it's own. Yes, PG-13's aren't that great, but I though this one was excellent. There are somethings I would've changed/added, but nontheless, I still love the movie.
RECOMENDED
It wasn't any sort of 'classic', but I can't help but feel that a majority of the people giving it low scores went in with either expectations too high or just wanted to hate it from the beginning. I went in with marginally good expectations and came out pretty impressed. It was better than it probably 'should' have been.
it was good for a pg-13 movie. i dont know why they labeled this as a remake. the original was a slasher, this one is a psychological thriller. the only similarities it the title and the location. everything else was different. the only real problem that i had with it was that the deaths werent elaborate enough and there wasnt many things that made me jump. as a school grade i'd give it is a B-.
ok to begin there was no blood or gore at all.i knew this movie was gonna suck i just wanted to watch it just to make sure i was right, but it sucked more than i expected.i thought that at least donna's chase scene was gonna be good but it turn out to be lame or one of the most lamest chase scene in any horro movie.the killer was just funny not scary at all.plus i didnt feel sorry for the people who died in this movie.
Another Pg13 Crappy remake of a Great r Rated Film.the Thing That Killed It For Me was Not The Pg13 rating But How They just kept Showing The Killer. How are You Supposed To Be Scared Of This Guy If Their Showing Him Every Five seconds. And Why is Hollywood Making all these Movies Directed Towards teens.Plus Its a Mainstream Movie,Mainstream Movies Suck.Independent Will Always Rule.
this movie was the worst pierce of crap
i have ever laid my eyes upon and i would not wish this cinematic torture to even my worst of enemie!!
i mean come on movie producers i mean pg-13 isnt an excuse to make this pathetic f**ing trash!!!!
there was absolutley no suspence the blood was like friken rain drops and the guy killed 8 people w/ a knife and there was absolutley no blood at all on him!!!! horendous acting, terrible dialogue and even worse directing!!!! this director should be shunned from the movie buisness periood coming up with this garbage is pitifull!!!!! this isnt horror if anything its preppy teen drama served up with a bit of laugh out loud acting and useless scares i dont recomend this to anyone and if u do c it remember this...u will regret it!!!
i can't believe i spent good $ to see this piece of grade 'a' bull shit!!!
OK,OK,I thought it was interesting enough, though they were really aiming away from the true horror fans. It could have been better(you have no idea how much it could have been beter)I enjoyed it, but maybe the reason why I liked it so much was because I kept looking at Brittany Snow. She's so cute when she's fighting for her life. Anyways I hope-no, I pray that come time it's on DVD, it'll be unrated, 'cause those death scenes were amusing. Like OH MAN how is it that you get stabbed like that and overall have that much blood? And y'all should stop hating on this film. Now I know that it really had nothing to do with the original, which I loved, it had something else to it, and when someone finds that something, please tell me.
It wasnt really that bad. It had a decent plot, acting, and so on. But I wish there would have been more gore and more ties to the original. But all in all it was pretty good but It seems like now a days all the horror movies are either remakes, J-horror, or sequels, im just gettin bored of it all.
No desire to watch another PG-13 horror movie. Movie producers should stop trying to catch the younger crowds attention with these terrible PG-13 movies(such as the Grudge,Shutter,Pulse,Stay Alive)because they just are not good....period. I remember when I was younger they didn't have to many PG-13 horror movies and I was watching rated R movies... they were usually good. I wasn't interested in wanting to watch a horror movie and skip all the good juicy stuff. F**k that. This is terrible, if you would rather have your kid waste his money on stupid movies like this rather than taking him to a rated R movie and getting some grade "A" entertainment(A.K.A. blood and guts) than your a terrible parent and I hope you get jumped by a gang of Homeless Paraplegic Vietnam Veterans. It serves you right hippie.

"What the hell was that?" That's what I said when the closing credits began to roll when the newest remake, "Prom Night" was finished. And then after that came a lot of other words that I will not reveal here to keep things tame, much like this movie.
So I think I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed the orginal "Prom Night". Yes it's incredibly outdated, but it's one of the first "who done it?" flicks I ever saw so it holds a special place in my heart and I knew the remake would probably disappointment me in some way, but I had no idea what I was in for.
Now I knew going in that this was NOTHING like the original so again I have to say "why?" Why call a movie something when it has nothing to do with the original material. That would be like calling a movie "Halloween" without Michael Myers, oh wait...
Anyways the gist of it is that these are dumbest characters I think I have ever seen a movie. If I saw a teacher that was infamous at my school for murdering someone I would recongize him right away, not wait twenty minutes and then suddenly realize, "oh crap, it's him!!" And what clutzes!! How many times can you possibly fall down or bump into something, I mean this movie was borderline slapstick comedy. And the killer? God was he annoying. I've seen Johnathon Schaech play a really creepy fellow before so I was intrigued when I heard he was cast as the villian in this. But he came across as pathetic and whiney, and most of all NOT scary. Oh yeah, the cops were also morons as well, just FYI.
Now I'm going to go easy on the PG-13 rating. I am a gore hound and prefer uncensored R rated movies but I feel it is possible to have a good PG-13 scary movie. But the way the gore was handled was riduculous! Little drops of blood on peoples clothing, without any cut fabric might I add, and a little dribble of blood coming from their mouths after being stabbed several times, c'mon!! We aren't that stupid!
I felt this movie had one bright spot. I did find the chase sequence through the floor being remodled to be slightly suspenseful, even though predictable, and that's why I gave a score of 2 instead of 1.
So add this to the already large pile of pointless and pathetic remakes and great ready see this same creative team butcher another movie I find to be a classic, The Stepfather.
Okay, this is not a scary movie at all. Just getting that clear. Don't expect to come out having nightmares, because you won't. Don't see it if you don't like teen movies, because that's basically what it is. It's aimed towards teens. However, it was actually better than I expected. There were some stupid parts, some unintentional funny parts, but overall it was an entertaining movie. Better than WASC, Black X-Mas, The Fog, One Missed Call, and other shit like that.
And people compare this to the Ruins, they're too completely opposite films.
i saw this movie opening night and was pissed. it sucked. totally predictable, cheap scares, and the murders were not believable at all. ya its PG-13, but thats no excuse to make a stupid movie. i expected a lot more, but was obviously let down
I really liked it. It wasn't gory, and the story wasn't perfect. But come on, we're talking a Pg-13 film. By the way, this is not a remake. Not a remake at all, diffrent story, setting, and characters. I reccomend!
according to an article in Fango, although released as a PG13, they did film some harder stuff, so all you people complaining about the lack of gore...just skip it and wait for the (hopefully) unrated dvd.
(SPOILERS)
I don't know what movie David Harley went to see, but it definitely wasn't Prom Night.
First, he says there is no accidental death, no mysterious killer, etc but didn't we establish this through the trailer? If you didn't like that fact then don't go and see it. Simple.
Then he says that Fenton kills people that have nothing to do with who he came for. Obviously he did, because he killed a maid who possessed a master key so he could enter and exit any room he wanted to at any time.
I'll agree, there was a very noticeable plot hole with the whole elevators functioning during a fire alarm, but big whoop, there are plenty of other movies with even worse plot holes than that.
To me, Fenton looked like a completely different person while he was shaved. IRL, I'm sure situations like this have happened so it isn't that far-fetched.
The whole blood issue. Once again, what did you expect from a PG-13 movie? That's like asking whether Brittany Snow gets naked in it. It's a stupid thing to wish for, and you SHOULDN'T take away points for that.
Anyways, I enjoyed the movie, will buy it when it comes out on DVD, will probably see it again in theatres, and will continue to watch it with friends, family, and by my lonesome.
Does Bloody-Disgusting have an IMDB problem?
the three accounts who gave this movie a high rating look fake as fuck. On one hand I feel happy for Bloody-Disgusting that you are now so popular that people actually think to come in here and create fake accounts to up a movie's average user rating, on the other hand that really sucks for people looking for an honest opinion.
Giving it the score it really deserves just because some how other people don't want to give it the right score it sucked it was below average for even a remake the clips can tell you that and if it didn't make you jump look away or say "WTF did I just see" it really dosen't deserve above a 2.5 skulls
better than i thought it would be. a good movie 2 seer this weekend. brittany snow was awesome and i liked evryone in the cast. thjought u wish this movie had made me jump. overall a really good remake.
I thought that this was a really good remake!Although the story is very different to the original, to me, it's still a remake. In the original, the killer was masked and you don't find out until the end, but this time, you know exactly who the killer is. In the original, the prom is at Hamilton High School, in this one, it's at a Grand Hotel. In the original, a little girl died six years brfore the prom, and the kids responsible swear not to tell no one, and the killer comes to the prom to kill them, in the remake, a teacher named Richard Fenton becomes obsessed with a student named Donna, and he breaks out of prison 3 years later to see her again and will kill anyone who gets in his way. Donna is very beautiful. If you want to see the movie for a straight remake of the original, you'll be highly disappointed, but if you stay open-minded and enjoy the movie for what it is, you'll love it! (I already want to see it again!)
Honestly it was your typical slasher film!! except you knew who the killer was! on the other hand I loved it!! it was kind of suspensful and it was pretty good overall!! I would see it again for sure! Not all that scary and the previews kinda tell you who dies and such but it was overall pretty good! I would recommend it because it was apretty good passing of 88mins!! haha..... The cast was pretty hot also.. And the cast actually looked like they could be highschool seniors!
