One of the best remakes I've seen, probably my favorite, or second favorite, Ryan Reynolds did amazing, I can honestly say I liked this more than the first.
HEY
Did anybody notice the fact that they just added arbitrary elements to a great story that should have been left alone? Or that they took REAL PEOPLE and turned them into Hollywood stereotypes? Cut it out people... go watch the original and remember how life was in the 1970's...
I would go as far as saying this was my all time favorite haunted house movie! no shit!!! It was really scary and suspenseful.Great look.Melissa George and Ryan Reynolds were awesome!Way better than the original.More suspense and scares!
This fuckin movie was awesome, it was really scary, soo much better when the original. I remember when this movie came out their were lines of cars all day down ocean avenue, (the actual house is 4 min away from where i live, 112 ocean ave. amityville, N.Y) Great movie

When I first heard of this coming to theaters in 2005 and that Ryan Reynolds was in it I thought that either I heard wrong or this movie was going to be so far from it's original that I had little hope for it. Don't get me wrong, I like Ryan Reynods and think he is funny, I just thought it was not the right fit for this type of movie. I was wrong, he did a superb job. The remake overall was very well done and have confidence in Friday the 13th now.
Looking back at this film now, had I watched it only recently, I wouldn't have expected much, but this film is, for Hollywood remake standards, exceptional. It's one of the most terrifying films I have ever witnessed, has some very good acting and has a reasonably short running time, which is always good. Don't be put off by much of Michael Bay's other...terrible films, this one is certainly worth watching if you like the pants literally scared off you.
ok first off in anticipation for the friday the 13th remake im watchin all the platinum dunes remakes, this is the one that i never saw, until last night, like three years after its release, it was fun to watch at 11 o clock at night under a blanket alone with a nice pint of stout ill give it that, it had its moments , alot of them actually , but one thing i dont understand, ok when they move into the house and the couple are about to seal the deal in the bedroom with eachother( mellissa george is one of the hottest women alive imo, goddamn) why does the little girl appear and hang herself from the bed rail to george lutz , just because its creepy? i can understand the house doing creepy shit granted, but this is a character and SHE WAS FUCKING SHOT! why the hell would her ghost be acting suicidal? plus she is supposed to be the girl that gets left behind to feel sorry for anyway right? that makes absolutley no sense at all to me. to be creepy is not a good enough reason on that one. i still liked thi better than the hitcher though.
This one Is a fun watch. Has its scary moments, not the best scarey movie ever... but we can't all be Romero. All in all i would recommend it if you want to have fun.
Well it has great actors and I do think it was a good remake but if the 1st one wasnt that great you cant expect the remake to be much better. So ocver all was ok.
