I thought they did a good job on the movie. I found the movie very dark and depressing but that is exactly what it needs to be to make the Punisher work. The fight scene was one of the best I have seen in a while

Was a fan of the comic and was interested to see what was going to be done after the ever crappy, yet can't help but watch, Dolph Lundgren "Punisher" film. Thought this movie was cool. Maybe not as violent as hoped but Thomas Jane was decent as Frank Castle and kicked some pretty good butt. Was disappointed that when "War Zone" came out that it was a film on its own, and wanted to hate it, but alas, loved it because of its over the top violence that should be a Punisher film, yet not as good as the Thomas Jane version. To keep with this film, rent it if you haven't seen it, its a good waste of time.
I wasn't a fan of the comic & the plot of the movie was basic, however the two lead actors sold the film for me. I love Travolta as an annoying provoking villian. He plays the role so well ex. Broken Arrow, Face Off, Swordfish & General's Daughter. To counteract Travolta you have one of my fave new actors Thomas Jane. I absolutely love Jane. Aside from being naturally sex, his subtle ruggedness is so alluring. I like him because he is so versatile. T Jane acts well in everything from romantic-comedy-(The Sweetest Thing)/to drama- (61*)/ suspense-( Dreamcatcher)/ horror-(The Mist)/ to hardcore action films-( Deep Blue Sea). I thought Jane fit the bill as the Punisher & was disappointed he didn't return for 'Warzone'. Once again I state the movie was fairly simple, but once you have good actors playing the right roles your movie will always score well w/ the Audience.
really? a comic book character gets into a horror website? otherwise good movie...

the punisher is my favorite comic adaptation film. the punisher is my favorite comic hero, and i read the books all the time. i was glad to see that jonathan hensleigh left the cartoony old punisher stories to adapt the newer, darker garth ennis stories. the new stories are more realistic, and have more action. thomas jane makes a perfect frank castle, and john revolta plays a great eccentric villain.

John Travolta is usually a good villian, in here he lacks personality and a good script of material to work with, this film is one of the few really bad comic book to film movies, what once had high hopes fails big time, i felt no interest in the characters, no sympathy for his family, no interest in the revenge for characters i didnt care about. hopefully a re boot on the series will make me like the punisher more.
"This movie came onto the scene with very little fanfare. It isn't a CGI powerhouse. There's no Matrix/Kill Bill style fight scenes. But what it lacks in modern trends it more than makes up for in a good old fashioned revenge plot. Touting a story that would have been fit for a Clint Eastwood flick like Outlaw Josey Wales or Hang 'em High, the Punisher takes the viewer on journey into the soul of a gritty vigilante. Thomas Jane plays the lead role to perfection, his voice acting is incredible. Although this isn't your daddy's (or Dolph's) emotionless Punisher. He is much more cerebral here than in most of the other media he has popped up in, and more human, but not any more humane. Using the tried and true style of fist fights and pyrotechnics this movie keeps the character rooted in his all too mortal persona. The supporting characters turn in equally descent roles, the likes of John Travolta worked well, although nothing outstanding. No doubt about it, Thomas Jane ran away with this one. He's just a normal guy doing super-normal things, with a lot of gunfire and explosions to boot. If you are in the target demographic (Male aged 17-30) you will definitely enjoy this film. If not, proceed at your own risk." --TimLax51, imdb.com
I enjoyed this movie but i found Mr Jane a bit weak to play Frank Castle, Frank is an intimidating ex solder, but i just didn't feel that in him. But tey kept it violent and captivating and i thought Travolta was excellent in it. I hope more heros are in the next one, Like Fury.
