Its a fun popcorn - flick. I won't lie- I have watched this movie many times and I enjoy it.Don't compare it with the Alien trilogy or the Predator - Just see it as an independent franchise and have fun - It has some oh - so -cool kills - some gr8 Predator Vs Alien fights and a pretty Good Final girl sub-plot with some brilliant cinematography.There are even some twists and turns, which keep u guessing till the end - We do lose but whoever wins - Be it Aliens or Predator - its definitely the money well spent in a hall to watch the birth of a franchise.
Besides the fact that 2 of the coolest sci fi chacters are in the movie being of course the Predator and Alien(s)it is total crap. The whole idea of the chick teaming up with the Predator is very pathetic and tames the Predator in my eyes. This film doesn't "ruin" the other movies as so many people have told me it has for them but it is definetly the worst
Most disappointing movie of my entire life. I thought it couldn't get worse than Alien Resurrection.

Paul W.S. Anderson - Hollywood's Uwe Boll? Maybe, maybe not, but this fun little piece of crap might just tip the scales in the maybe-direction.

This has grown on me over the years, it may not be as great as the other Alien and Predator movies, but it is fun and a great sci-fi adventure with some spectacular setpieces (the Queen emerging from the ice is f***ing brilliant).
And the predator/human romantic tension was hilarious!
File under so cheesy/bad it's great and enjoy it for what it is.

Sure, as far as a horror movie, this bites. But as an action film (and a major Alien fan) I loved it. Anything that lets me see more Alien-y goodness in a relatively plausible manner is good enough for me. All in all, good popcorn movie.

This killed the greatest horror, sci - fi franchises ever made. Alien VS Predator is basically what it says on the tin, the two greatest sci - fi aliens fighting against each other, with a couple of stupid American actors and actresses chucked in. The acting is terrible, but the sheer volume of the movie is great, with some great action and suspense, but no horror elemts that raided the original Alien movies, and the movie Predator. The sound track is awful, the acting is horrible, but the action is great.
This movie pissed me off so much. I was hoping it would be awesome. The promotional status of the film prior to it's release excited me. The whole 'whoever wins... we lose' tagline was awesome and the trailer actually showed hope. When i got to see the film i let off a few things that happened, like the first Predator dying, then the second one came to pass and i thought 'Fuck' but i still let it off then half way through the film and the fighting scenes sucked, they looked so crap. I thought the storyline was terrible as was the characters and the acting in the film. The horrendous fight scenes put the sprinkles on the piece of shit this film is. Only because Aliens and Predators are featured in this film does it get 2 skulls.
i think the reviews a lot of you put up here is just trashing the film b/c of the rating...for a pg-13 its got a lot of killing and some blood and a lot of alien slime....i thought the story was really good and i was praying for the characters to survive and i even got a claustrophobic feeling during one scene....i loved the final girl and the predator team up set and thought the ending was really good...havent watched avp:r since i got it so i guess i'll check that out now
Has some cool ideas but ultimately screws over the fans with a PG-13 rating some totally lame Predator action. I almost expected the predator and the main character chick to start their own sitcom together.
It started off good, a good story, well looked like it was gonna be. But it just failed. While I do get the whole predator could have been nice to humans thing (the second one, all the predators don't kill danny glover when they come back down to earth). But it was so cheesy there are no words.
this coulda been sooo cool, but once again hollywood fails us all!

I did expect this to be pure crap before i saw it but i did in fact like it. Not one of the best horror movies but still not in my opinion one of the worst. This movie is watchable thanks to the great sets, the two beasts and the terrific actor Lance"Bishop"Henriksen. This movie is far from a ten but i think it deserves a five and it is still better than Alien resurrection(what a shithole movie).

I was expecting some silly movie with the bad guys from two great franchises duking it out it. Fun, but mindless. I wasn't expecting high quality writing that was in some of the AVP comics and books. This movie was crap. I thought Freddy Versus Jason was mindless, but fun (fun at times, at least). This is just mindless.
I thought this movie was going to be good. But when I watched it I thought it was SHIT! Everbody gets killed off way to soon and then it gets really boring. The movie really took the PREDATOR's side because it makes it look like hes the good guy. Really bad movie!
Not the greatest movie ever, but was anybody trully expecting it to be? It was loaded with cool action angainst the two Horror/Sci-Fi legends, and if anybody was expecting much plot, you obviously were watching for the wrong reasons. I still find it enjoyable.

I happened to like this movie. anybody who say's different doesn't know what they're talking about.
The mixing of these two franchises should have been pure gold. The initial comic book was excellent but putting them together on Earth is a complete and utter mistake and a lost chance to combine two awesome entities. In a word - s**t

God, what a disappointment. There was a great deal of potential wasted in the making of this movie. The only thing worse was the piece of crap that followed it.
Although, not as good as the original Alien and Predator movies (call me nastolgic), this was actually a great film. The music and the locations for this film are outstanding. The storline, although original, was great. The Predator in this one looked a little bulgy if you ask me. The battle at the end between the Predator and the Alien Queen was great. I recommend this film to anyone who likes the Alien and Predator franchises.
Some of the reviews of this movie make me laugh. It's like people are so mindless lately that no matter how amazing a movie is (and no, I'm not saying this is amazing AT ALL) people will agree with the majority of critical reviews. Look at Pan's Labyrinth. The movie is easily the most unoriginal, boring, and just downright pointless movies I've ever seen in my life---BUT---it got a lot of perfect reviews and people follow the crowd and rate it the same. In opposite, this movie a lot of terrible critical reviews and people followed suit.
Our generation is mindless.
This movie is far from perfect, but the reasons people have for hating this movie are even more retarded:
- "PG-13!! OMG!! IT SUCKS!!" Yet they fail to see that Alien and Aliens, if they were released in modern time, would have gotten a PG-13 rating. There was more violence/blood in the PG-13 rated Cloverfeild than Alien and Aliens combined. The level of violence in this movie is about the same as the original Alien, sorry to break it to you.
- "THE WORLD ENDED!!! A PREDATOR AND HUMAN TEAMED UP!! AHHHH!!!" It's no worse than the cheesy laughing scene at the end of the original Predator. Oh, wait. I forgot. People want a carbon copy of things they've seen a million times to make them like something. I forgot.
I'm a huge Alien fan. The original Alien is one of my favorite movies of all time. As for Predator . . . eh.
But Alien vs Predator was far from bad. It had enough action to keep me interested, which takes a lot. And the ending scene with the water tower was pretty cool, as well as seeing the Alien queen up and fighting. The minor plot twist in the very end was nifty as well.
There is nothing here that should offend fans of either series, because it's more of the same, but with a twist. Perfect? No. Deserving of the mindless "OH MY GOD IT SUXXXSS!!" it's getting? No.

While Director Paul W.S. Anderson delivers more than what ALIEN RESURRECTION has to offer (mainly because there are two different creatures vs. humans), ALIEN VS. PREDATOR fell short in too many ways ..... Most of the blame goes to Fox (for wanting a PG-13 when this franchise exists as a graphic R-rating) but the rest goes for not following the "existing" storyline available from the graphic novels (by Dark Horse Publishing) ..... Lance Henriksen talents are wasted in this film ! :-(
I wasn't heavily into Batman growing up, but this must be what hardcore fans of the Dark Knight must have felt when they saw the disaster "Batman & Robin".
My precious childhood memories where raped in one single, 101 minute experience. If you thing I'm exaggerating, don't worry, Paul W.S. Anderson makes sure that even non-fans will walk out of the theater with a headache and a bad taste in their mouths.
Acting, writing, even the design of the Predators are ridiculous and outlandish to the cartoon-like extreme. Skip this one and rest easy at night. Otherwise, don't say I didn't warn you.
A PG13 movie with aliens and predators give me a break this was a big pile of crap and PLEASE a human teaming up with a predator to beat a stupid alien DAMN i didnt believed it til i saw the movie.(Am giving it a 5 just because of the special effects and good acting)
Its a crying shame, seeing as how good the Alien and Predator movies are. Even Alien 3 wasn't as bad as this drivel. Mindless violence, and there weren't any decent fight scenes.
the first preadator and most of the alien movies were genious but anyone can tell you that putting them together with a PG13 rating could never work, this movie pretty much takes 2 of the biggest alien icons and ruins them. Its funny how the alien and predator movies were made about in the early 1980's and here in 2004 this is the best we can do to compete. Oh well better luck next time I guess.
Ok. I know this is a terrible movie on all fronts. But for the true nerds it is loosely based on the AVP book. Which is neat, they just really screw it up.
And PG13 AVP is like a slap in the face.
