The first one is way better. Still a good movie.

I'm not sure if I'd say Gremlins 2 is better than the first one, but it's one hell of a fun ride! The "new" Gremlins are hilarious in Mogwai form (love the screwy one with the rolling, crazy eyes!), and completely awesome looking in reptilian Gremlin mode. Spider and Bat Gremlins most of all. It was also nice having the original cast back (too bad Corey couldn't have had a cameo though). The giant musical number towards the end with them singing "New York, New York" was a bit out of control, but I still managed to see this three times in the theater, and find a place for it in my DVD collection forever. As long as it's not a hack job, let's get another Gremlins movie going ASAP!

This is one of those rare sequels, in which it's better than the first. It's a shame it doesn't get as much love as the original as it's a bigger and crazier movie. It has more Gremlins and different types of them, all thanks to Christopher Lee no less, and the wild experiments they conduct on themselves in the buildings laboratory. Now they can fly, are smarter, spider mutations and a Miss Piggy-esque female gremlin. Gizmo is back, of course, as is Zack Gilligan and Phoebe Cates. Once the gremlins really start to wreck havoc it becomes a rollercoaster of a film that is very self referrential and lampoons every thing in sight, making for some great gags but is also a shade darker than the first. Considering this was so good why didn't they do a Gremlins 3 ? Maybe one day they will and hopefully it will be as great as this blast of a film.

Crazy movie loved the creatures and the comedy this worked much better than the first one. Christopher Lee as a mad scientist FTW.

Fun movie

I like this movie more than the original, though the original is probably a better movie.

The fun factor of this movie is CRAZY! The setting in a big modern tower building give the gremlins plenty of room to go crazy in. The laboratory makes sure that all kinds of gremlins are created: Everything for spider-gremlins to a smart gremlin, fun fun!

There are also plenty of characters that you get to dislike, which makes for great scenes where the gremlins "torture" the villians. IMO you dont find a better critter movie (not even critters get close :-P )

It was okay but I think the first was way better.

It was alright. Nothing special though.

Lacks the heart of the original, but more than makes up for it with it barrage of great fx work.

This is a great wacky screwball rollercoaster ride of a film. Once it starts, it doesn't let up until the final laugh-out-loud frame. This film parodies everything; especially the first Gremlins film.

Some could argue that this film is a smooth allegory about how technology is slowly taking over our lives and the Gremlins represent a return to normalcy, ironic as it may seem.

Either way, this movie is a thrill ride of great special effects, dark comedy, and endless mayhem. Enjoy. But remember to bring to make those delicious bologna and bean dip roll-ups that, as we know, are great for when guests drop by.
