I've seen a lot of independent horror films in my days, but I can safely say, without hesitation, that Christopher Alan Broadstone's My Skin/ Scream for Me double feature has the best directing and editing job I've ever seen in a low budget picture.

In the short film My skin, which runs about 12 minutes, Death flies in to collect the soul of a murdered young woman, but first takes revenge on her killer. After replacing all of the incriminating evidence - the bullets, the smoking gun, even the murderer's fingerprints - Death takes a moment to place a very special phone call. Here the supernatural vengeance truly begins.

In the psychological horror-thriller Scream for Me, which runs around 20 minutes, one killer becomes the victim of another and Garrott Druck seeks the truth of what lies beyond death within the screams of the women he murders. Tonight, however, he will fall fate to a killer more insane than himself, and come face to face with the horrible truth that hides within the screams of his own violent death.

Sure both films combined run only 30-so-minutes long, but what lies within both films are fantastic stories, phenomenal directing and editing and a good soundtrack, which is a rarity in these low budget flicks. Although I wasn't a big fan of Scream for Me, and I'll probably never watch it again, My Skin is so good, it more than makes up for the second of the two shorts. The guy who plays Death is amazing, and is extraordinarily creepy. I loved the camera work in setting up the situation, where Death is framing the deceased killer. Most of all I loved the editing that tightens the story and visual work up, and makes it look more professional that a lot of films out there. Why not give Mr. Broadstone here some money instead of stiffs like Uwe Boll? If he can gather millions for a movie, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't see something from Broadstone one day.

The only gripe I have with these films is the low production "look". I was really sad for Christopher because if this had been filmed with something more professional, the short My Skin would have been perfection (not saying that isn't anyways).

Overall, I was extremely impressed with Broadstone's work, and the first film is something you will definitely want to show your horror fiends. And just remember- don't screw with Death's plans, or he'll be mighty pissed off.

If you're a fan of independent films, the $15 price tag to own these two shorts on DVD are a steal, but if not, I don't know if I could justify spending $15 them.
