An interesting take on Vampires.A good start for Del Toro.View this first than THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE,and then PAN'S LABRYNTH.If you don't like sub-titles just watch the Hell boy FILMS.But if you do, you can see his genius grow with each film.
Great, great movie. Anyone worried about the staleness of the vampire sub-genre can breathe easy. This film is completely engaging from start to finish.
It's a really good film to introduce any stubborn horror fan to foreign films (subtitles). And Ron Perlman is the fuckin' man in this one, as usual. He adds a lot of comic relief as well as just being a great presence in to watch on screen. Of course all the actors are great, particularily the main character. And there's a surprisingly fitting Hitchcock inspired score throughout the film that really gives the horror of the events some class as well as shock.
See it soon, you won't be bored, I promise.
(By the way, whoever that chick on the cover is ain't in the movie, sorry guys)
