not as good as the original, but the movie was fun and entertaining.

wow, this was actually a lot better than the first, although that's only my opinion.

the copycat killer is a little more thrilling because the more victims of the same name as the victims of the first movie were getting killed off, the closer he'd get to Sidney Prescott.

i had never expected Debbie Salt to be the killer, but...oops! i gave away the killer! then again, it doesn't matter because people can only give their opinions if they've seen the goddamn flick!

but oh well, this franchise is getting better, and i hope it keeps getting better (it has to end sometime)!

Good Movie but the first is the best

Right off the bat, I have to admit that I am biased with this review. When Scream came out in 96 I was hooked and when I found out that Scream 2 would be filming in Atlanta summer of 1997, I was too excited for words. I was on set for a week at the campus of Agnes Scott College getting autographs and watching scenes filmed. It was one of my first times visiting a movie set and from then on out I have been working my way toward a career in tv/film production. So ths is a review, now lets get back to it. Scream 2 is a frightening and smart slasher flick. Just like the first. Smart slasher flick? Yes! The film opens in a theather playing "Stab" which is the movie within the movie based on Gale Weathers book which in turn is based on the events of the first Scream. This is fun concept that is sprinkled throughout the film and is further explored in Scream 3. Again we get more character development which takes this film beyond what most slasher sequels ever accomplish. It has a wonderful cast, visual style, wit (in which they mock how much sequels suck), and most importantly pathos. You actually care for these characters.

Undoubtedly on, perhaps, purpose this sequel is as strong as the original, if not stronger. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson team up successfully a second time... screaming further self-confidence and clever parody while providing elevated self-irony to a noticable smiling level. Evidently on purpose part two, the occurence of violence and victims as well as coarse language have been increased, intentionally facilitating the presentation as crueler, and therefore more successful.

great movie

Not often is a sequel as good as this one. I thought this would ruin the Scream franchise, but it didn't. Yes, it isn't as good in some aspects, but it's solid enough to get my 8/10 rating. Scream 2 isn't a sequel, as I see it. It's a extension of the first. Not a sequel. Nothing has changed much since the events of Scream, and Scream 2 is fresh and original. There is a acting issue, with some stupid women running around the place with fake boobs and too much makeup. But, the fact remains, this is a solid slasher movie. There isn't as much gore this time, but I suppose the unique character Scream, with the evil white mask that has become such a icon on those Halloween nights, is back and ready to kill! The deaths are pretty decent, some good screams and a range of great set pieces. The plot is simple, but well thought through again, with a good line up of characters that make you actually watch it, not ignore it.

Overall, Scream 2 is a great, solid sequel, with great, gory deaths to make up for the crummy acting. Don't expect aspects from the first, but there is something there that stands out.

8/10

After rewatching this just a couple weeks ago, I have to say that this was the perfect sequel to Scream. It couldn't have been any better. The thing I love about these movies is that when each character dies, you feel sympathy for each and every one of them. I admit, the ending is a little drawn out, but the trip getting there is an amazingly fun ride that will have you laughing and screaming at the television screen.

I think I prefare this to the origional I feel it is much funnier, but that being said it only surpasses its origional by a slight fraction I also love Scream 3!!!!!!.If you ever wanna have a fun date or evening with your girlfriend rent the scream seriers and get ready for the thrill ride of your life all though im shure its nothing compared to what follows in the bedroom afterwords. =)

Although not as good as the first, it is an OK sequel. It lacks the same quality as the first; the opening isn't quite as good and it doesn't grab your attention throughout like the first. It is clever though and all the chracters are loveable and not like your ordinary cardboard characters who you don't give a piss about if they die! YOur be guessing who the killer is 'till the end and you won't expect it!
Overall fun! But not quite as fun as the first

out of the three screams this one is by fay the worst...the first was good, but the other two lacked a lot of good scary moments...can someone also explain why all the deaths are PG?

Scream is a fun movie to watch. I enjoy thinking, and this is a slasher flick to get one to use their brain. Slashers aren't normally this complex. Throughout the film you are guessing. "That guy is the one! "He's wearing the same shoes as him!" Etc. Etc. Etc.

Scream 2 is not a trashy sequel. It's not as fresh as the original, but is highly entertaining. It begins where Scream left off. After the previous killings from the first film, a book is written by Gale Weathers, a news reporter from the last movie. Then a movie hits the theaters. About what? The first film! It's a movie within a movie.

There are many cameos and stars, including Courteney Cox as Gale, Neve Campbell, Tori Spelling, Jamie Kennedy, Jada Pinkett Smith, and even Sarah Michelle Gellar. This makes Scream that much more amusing.

The central plot revolves around "Stab," the movie about the first film. Convinced the killings will stop, everyone believes the terror is over. They are wrong. When more brutal, sadistic acts begin again around the set of the movie "Stab," they now know the person in the robe and mask is back.

There is no spectacular acing here. Nothing special. Just multiple scenes old fashioned dismemberment. But that's not what makes the movie great. What makes it great is the complexity of the characters. It's not just kissing, killing, and crying. It's one big game of "Clue." And that's the way I like it.

Definately a cut above the rest as far as sequels go. Not as smart as the original. It seems like Sarah Michelle Gellar's death was completely random. Decent, though. Courtney Cox's chase scene is the highlight of this flick!

A good sequel with a well thought out plot

Just Ok...

I LOVE THEM ALL! But 2 is the weakest in my opinion. It seem's too drawn out at times and not enough action or suspense that is until the end when it starts off with gale and dewey in the school and gale being chased around! that rocked and billy's mother is still my favorite killer out of the three films.....played amazingly by Laurie Metcalfe. The rest of it just falls beyond expectation after seeing the first film! We all know Jada and Omar are gonna bite it in the theater, we all know Sarah Michelle will get it but we never expected Randy!!! That was shocking! I love things about it.Mainly the last 30 minutes. So yes it's worthy and a good movie alone but not any where near that of the first or third! Still one of my favorite films....my 3rd favorite!

The opening kill is great and dewey really stands out as a great character.Sadly but also ballsy kill with randy.

not the first, but a respectable sequel give it a go if u liked the first one.
