There was no way part 2 to the brilliant original "Cube" was going to top what they did in that film. The only possible way to top the original is to keep the mystery alive and never reveal any sort of details or explanations...which sadly they dabbled into that area at the very end which was a disapointing and bad decided ending, this film isnt all bad, it still has its good moments, but the traps within this film are weak in comparison and the character interaction is nowhere near the brilliant chemistry of the characters in the original. This film is still better than Cube Zero, but this film is nowhere near the original...not alot of films will ever be as good as the original "Cube".
The idea of dabbling with time shifting and things like that wasnt all a bad idea but the way it was all executed wasnt done good and the digital effects were pretty low budget looking which should have been removed since they look so silly and kept the more gory death traps that were featured in the original.
Although I wouldnt recommend Hypercube as I give it a 6/10 I still would watch these "Cube" movies over the "Saw" films anyday, I respect films that rely on brains and characters over gore and violence.
If you balance all those things properly great films can be made from them, as the original "Cube" was perfect. And Hypercube, as well as Cube Zero fail to come close to accomplishing the paranoia, suspense, interesting characters and unpredictable situations and most importantly the intentional mystery that should have NEVER been explained or shown in anyway, Outside the Cube should always have been dark black or bright white, either one, you dont know exactly where it is or what it is or if its even real or in the mind....you fear what you dont understand. when you spend time explaining and showing the things to explain, it eliminates that fear and weakens the experience.

The sort of movie that makes you angry.

Once again: clever idea but, my god is it poorly made. None of it makes sense and then chock it up to an annoying ending and you're left wanting that wasted time back.

this felt like a not good version of the first

Weak, confusing and slow paced sequel. Nice visuals, but crappy CG and kills.

This was definitely better than that piece of shit CUBE ZERO. It might not have had the gore of the first and second movie bit it wasn't that bad. Worth watching if you saw the first one.

Interesting story but I dont think such a complex idea translated very well to film, not that it's a bad movie but it would have made a hell of a good book. It's good enough that you arn't sick to death of cubes and has you interesting in whats going on. Trippy effects.
