I saw this ages ago. Remember it being very funny, gross and kinky. The giant monster penis was hilarious.

Why can't all Shakespeare be like this? Took me awhile to finally sit down to watch a Troma film, but it was well worth the wait. This movie is great, not only does it stay pretty true to the story (unexpected for a low budget flick) but this doesn't take away from it at all. The dialogue, the Shakespearean parts at least, fits perfectly. The rest does as well, adds realism, not that this flick needs it. I can't really find any real flaws with this flick, it was exactly what I expected and more- good cast, good writing, terrible effects, but in a good way :p And come on, any movie where a priest beats the crap out of a guy deserves to be seen at least once. One for the books folks.

Possibly my favorite Troma film. Insane, fuck-it-all Troma film-making at it's sex-n-gore-n-humor-n-WTF?! best!

Body piercing. Kinky sex. Dismemberment. The things that made Shakespeare great.

I always enjoyed the campy nature of Toxic Avenger and I decided to pick this up after watching G4's Grindcore. I must admit...Im glad I did.

This is one of the finest exploitation-ish films Ive ever seen. I laughed, I squirmed, I even got a little wood. The acting is above par for a Troma picture and although you never quite believe the two lovers are really in love, you hope they survive (even if you know how Shakespeare's ends). I also have to say this is a great movie to quote...and Juliet is pretty hot. Give you a taste? First ten minutes there is a lesbian scene between Juliet and Ness (her pierced and tatooed cook).

Now, onto gore...this is a Troma film, and there is a good amount of it as well as other racey scenes. Of course, by todays standards, the gore looks pretty campy, but by that time you're into the movie that you just laugh at the situations. Also look for the Catholic priest joke that came many years before the scandles. Don't worry, only half of the movie is in iambic pentameter.

Im not sure if its a testament to Billy Shakespeare or Llyod Kaufman, but this film is truly unforgetable. Watch it with your good friends who'll enjoy other troma films or even teen comedies.
