Korean horror thriller Voices offers up an interesting premise. A young girl named Ga-In Kim plated wonderfully by Jin-Sen Yun finds herself the victim of several people as they try and murder her. It seems that the people around her begin dying and some very gruesome fashions and visions of a grotesquely deformed man plague her thoughts. The film delicately plays on the concept of the people who are closest to you being capable of murdering you. It's executed well with dark visuals, a brooding atmosphere and strong performances. It all leads up to a surprisng finale you won't see coming. Voices is in fact one of the most disturbing and solid asian genre efforts in quite some time.
This film had my attention for a while, but it got kinda boring later on.. not bad, but I could have spend that hour and some-odd minutes on a different movie. Horrorfest isn't what it used to be.
I was really disappointed with this years Horrorfest, but this film kinda saved it for me. It's great. Suspenseful, chilling and genuinely creepy (not in the typical dead-girl-with-long-black-hair-covering-her-face way). Check it out. It's on the top of this years After Dark heap for me.
This little movie is sure to excite any and all Asian horror fans. Its bloodier and more raw than normal. But this movie was pretty thought provoking and disturbing. DEfinitely one to see. Horrorfest seems to redeem itself with 3 really good movies. This being one of them.
I saw a matinee of this film today and I was pumped on it. Maybe I was swayed a bit since I did see Slaughter the day before and just about anything would seem lightyears better than that garbage. But I found this to be very entertaining and one of the better Japanese horror films mainly due to having action throughout rather than and hour of character development with a mediocre payoff at the end. It was a bit confusing keeping the characters straight, that was my main complaint. I'm gonna watch this one again as I'm fairly sure that I missed some clues earlier on.
