I hate about the discussions about this film whether if its real or not. If one would listen intently to the narration of Director Conan Le cilaire aka John Alan Schwartz, then one would understand what he is trying to say about the audience concerning mankind.

By using violence (whether real or not), then the viewer will have a solid idea on the director's epiphanies about the human anatomy, the force that pushes some to suicide, animal cruelty, and the different perspectives of man towards death, depending on their occupations and experiences.

I can say that Faces of Death is worthy of its classic status. And its somewhere in the list of the goriest movies ever made. Although, nothing beats Philosophy of a Knife.

If trash is your thing then this belongs in your collection based on it's infamy alone. Does it live up to the hype, I don't think so, unless you're squeamish in which case there's a behind the scenes look on how many of the fx were pulled off. Yes they're fake, for all those who still insist this edition will lay it all to rest, it's all fake.

An icon of 70's gross-out flicks!!! I'm proud to have it in my collection o' horror. It reminds me of something that Dave Mustaine once said: "Without death, life would be meaningless don't ya' think" !!! The circle of life spins non-stop everyday. It is the reality of things, so embrace it, don't deny it!!! You gotta' kill it to grill it!!!

To be honest, this movie was a very interesting and the history to this movie gives it a god like status, so to speak, but the movie lacked any true interest to be brought to it after you find out everything in the movie is fake, except for the slaughter house scene. The movie started off good with great potential but then it got boring after about a half an hour and some of it is extremely fake and at no point was I truly disturbed or shocked. The fact that it's a video nasty is really the only reason y i saw it, but it is not anything special and it is all hype, which is hype you should not buy into. But all in all I would give it a 5/10 because of it's history it brought and it was an okay movie, apart from being fake and BORING!!!!

I like animals so i'm not a huge fan of this movie. But it is entertaining. I knew this was fake before i watched it so it may not have hit me as hard. Worth a viewing.

I totally agree with what Tex said. I saw this with a bunch of my friends back in the day one night and watched this and we almost shit our pants. We were like how could they be filming all of this shit and not get in trouble for it lol. But now I just found out from Tex's review that it was all fake. Oh well. I will say though it was one hell of a shocker for a 12 year old to see.
