Trully a unique and original story line. But still, not sure this movie really does anything for me. Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis did a great job, but acting alone does not make a good movie.

It's not nearly as good as the Evil Dead films, but it is Campbell's funniest movie. I guess I can say it's a hell of a lot better than 'The Man with the Screaming Brain.'

i loved every minute every thought everything about this movie was deliciously original and eerything i needed to see.
bruce campbell's best role since ash in the evil dead trilogy, and definatly the best film don coscarelli made since the original phantasm. loads of fun, well cast, hilarious and some good moments of scares involving an ancient mummy.
go bubba!

"By the unwinking red eye of Ra!"

I think that Bubba Ho-Tep deserves a higher rating than 2.5 skulls.

I am a Bruce Campbell fan and I tend to like most things that he is in. However, this is not a case where the movie is "good" just because Bruce is in it (though I do think it is Bruce's best work - and yes, I know he was in Evil Dead). Bubba Ho-Tep is a genuinely good movie.

The story is highly original and the characters are unique. This is something that modern-movies, especially horror movies, tend to miss.

Bruce Campbell's acting has never been better. From humour, to drama, to horror, he did very well and was convincing. He played the part with a lot of emotion and I never thought Bruce Campbell could make me cry until I saw this film.

The directing was top-notch. The film delivered moody and intense scenes very well. Considering the lighter nature of this film, the directing still managed to build suspense throughout.

Use of visual-effects was also very well done. Rather than using fancy special effects which I think tend to look really fake, Bubba Ho-Tep took a more practical approach to effects - old-school looking ones. To me, these are the best. Even though we all know they are fake, they still feel more real. An excellent scene in which this is depicted would be Bruce's fight with the giant bug.

Bubba Ho-Tep is a refreshingly good movie. Though I would have liked if this movie had more horror-esque aspects to it, it still managed to deliver enough of them; mixed in with unforgettable humour and some touching drama.

Personal favourite scene: Elvis' flashback scene, where he and his "friends" get out of the black car to meet Sebastian Haff (17m:45s). That slow-mo scene, getting out of the car and walking towards the viewer - the best!

Easily 5/5 Skulls

Alright, its time for A-C-T-I-O-N.
I am a Bruce Campbell fan (obviously), so of course I enjoyed this. The effects weren't the best in the world, and the mummy didnt look super cool(not that it needed to),but it doesn't take away from the awesomeness. I love JFK, he was great. The opening comments by Mr. Presley gave me some major lolz, and the heiroglyphics were funny. Bruce is just Bruce, thats all I can say bout that. The concept is enough to give you a chuckle. Elvis has been hiding in a nursing home for 20 years and JFK has been dyed black and left in the SAME nursing home....priceless. There isnt a whole lot of action, so if thats what you are looking for, look somewhere else. If you are looking for a few lolz and to see Bruce not be the guy in my avatar, check this out.

7.8/10- Rounded up to 8

Man, who does not love Bruce Campbell. He is awesome. The roles that he chooses are just out there. I had wanted to watch this for a long time when i came across it in a video stor for sale for a few dollars and man this thing is so funny. The story is completely insane but funny. The film is shot well and the story is well done. The acting is great the lines in this movie will stick with you. Repeating them for days to come. If you want a light hearted night with just fun then watch this with close friends.
