Ok guys, this is my very first review, so have some sympathy. Audition, the unrated director's cut, is by far one of the creepiest horror flicks I have seen in a while. It's completely in Japanese so prepare for subtitles. It's directed by Tokoashi Miike (Dead or Alive, Pudoh: The New Generation, City of Lost Souls). This movie has a wonderful plot and some very twisted scenes of brutality. At the beginning, there is an emotional scene of the main characters' wife dying in the hospital. Also, it introduces the son who is young at the time. Well, many years pass now and the son is, I'm guessing, around 17 years old. The main character, from what the writer is trying to express, is suffering from loneliness. Since his wife died, he's had no woman support and hardly ever smiles.
His friend which happens to work for a movie company decides to help him out and give an audition so he can choose and pick a girl he could date and eventually marry. He picked one, (Asami) but his friend didn't like her at all, which had the main character going angry. There are many things to say about the plot pickup here, but I will cut to the chase. Asami (the girl he chose to date) thought him and his friend wanted was to choose a girl to have sex with. That's when things go very sour. After realizing she lied on her audition resume about everything, there was no way to track her down. She practically just vanished with no trace. But little did they know that she sneaked into the main characters house and put poison into his drink that would paralyze him from head to toe but still could feel everything since his nerve sensors are still awake.
She starts to torture him and all he could do is sit there and feel it all. I won't tell everything to spoil it for you, but let's just say there are some dismembered body parts laying around. The ending is quite a surprise with some strange flashbacks. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie because of it's genius directing and storytelling. Go rent this now, if you?re ready for some creepiness.
