My favorite film in the series! For some reason I found Jason to be his creepiest in this flick, he really had the backwoods, freak going on hardcore. Plus I've always found the burlap sack mask much scarier than the hockey mask. His run down shack and alter with dear mommy's head just tops it off as well. Besides for Jason, I also really enjoyed the cast in this one...the lead actress did a fantastic job. A perfect score from me.

not as good as the first one, but still a little scary if you ask me. i expected to finally see Jason in his hockey mask, but seeing him with a pillow case was only okay, but seeing what he looks like? well...damn!
As far as I'm concerned, this is the one and only Friday The 13th that matters. It is Friday the 13th, and it is everything most of us know and love, it gave us what most think of when they think of the movie, Part 1 set the stage, and Part 3 was probably my second favorite, and one of the last that really mattered, I love this movie, the decade, the effects, the characters, the overall look and feel, this is the horror/slasher.

I liked this fun sequel. Jason's first reign as the killer in the franchise. Was one of the better sequels
This is one of those situations where I actually liked the "Sequel" better than the Original! With that said, this Movie picks up some time after the events at Camp Crystal "Blood" Lake! A bigger Cast of Camp Couselors this time and each one seemed to represent "a deadly Sin" or is that just me, anyways, An "unknown" Assailant is stalking the Camp Grouds and Picking them off one by one, "I wonder who that could be"? By the Time our Heroine " as all these movies have one" "Ginny, the wonderful Any Steele" figures it out, its too late and a battle for survival takes place!! Yes this Movie uped the Anty on Killing, the more the Merrier, and did so in Unique Fashion, each one more twisted than the last, and may I add Memorable, especially the double Spear Penetration, I mean "Ouch"! It also goes against the Grain even for a Friday the 13th Movie for not only does it give us a "smart, sophisticated and clever " lead Character in Ginny "once again, Kudos to Any Steele" who not only drinks Beer "Bar Scene" but also has "Sex' with Paul, her on again/off again Lover for they do spend the night together while that Old "your all Doomed" Perv is watching them right before he gets his, and who didn't cheer on that one? Now as avid Viewers of the Friday the 13th Movies, we Know, you just don't do these things and live to tell about it!! This Movie is Entertaining, Scary at times and Funny at others, Good Characters "even if most them are on screen long enough to Die Horrific Deaths" and the "Jason" Character isn't some walking Mutant Zombie, But just a "regular Sized" Fella with a deformed Face, a Fetish for Pillow Cases, and Long yearning for a Hug from his Mama!! Yes, by pt 3, the "Hockey" Mask became a permanent Staple of the Jason we all love and hold dear in our Hearts, although its nice to see his "Humble" beginnings!!! Yes, this is One of mine or possibly my Favorite Friday the 13th Movie , its still debateable, but definately see this Movie and then you'll know why, without a Doubt, why the "Remake" can't hold a Cleaver to this one!!!
Jason's first solo adventure is entertaining enough, though Jason had yet to become the presence he would. In this flick he's much more of a backwoods boogeyman, but there's some decent kills & it's enough to carry the series on to better (and worse) days.
Friday the 13th Part 2 is definitely up there with greatest sequels. The first one was great with the mother being a surprise killer at the end, and then Jason takes on her legacy in the next one. I did love the sack head, but nothing beats the freakin iconic hockey mask I mean come on. That girl that was hitting on the dude in wheelchair was sooooo hot, she was stabbed and then dragged down the stairs while still alive, very cool! Jason is the man! He fucking own Michael any day of the week!!!!
Ya know, I take back my review of the first friday, I think since the first and only other time I saw this movie while I was having sex, that it really threw off my perception! The first friday SUCKED DICK! It was sooo stupid and boring! I saw it the other day and wanted to turn it off. This movie on the other hand was the best one in the ENTIRE series! It was really cool.
a classic movie, the suspense is awesome, new fans like me get to see the how jasons legacy as a killer began, and the kills are creative. a must have horror movie, the music by the composer has you scared whenever the scary moment is. nothing will make you stop the movie, it is a must see
obviously the films a classic but i dont know theres a little something missing for me....i love it but i just love the original more....no particular reason...but i just love the original that bit more
I watched this for the first time again since I bought the boxset in 04 and I forgot how good this one was. It has definitely moved up on my Friday the 13th list. Just wish that hot girl got a proper deah scene (the one who swims nude).
This may be the best JASON movie. There are a select few that I find EXTREMELY well made. Those are:
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 6
and that's pretty much it. Part 7 was OK but it wasn't as good as these four. I could list them in order, but I don't feel like it. :D
ANYWAYS. The look of Jason was just amazing in this one. I love the potato-sack. It's just classic. And Jason without his mask was pretty scary. He looks like a scottish farmer mixed with Sloth from the Goonies. The main protaganist (Ginny) is a GREAT actress. The chase scene at the end and the part where she wears Pamela's sweater is just freaking awesome.
My favorite death scene would have to be either Alice's death in the beginning (only because she was the survivor from the first one) or Jeff and Sandra getting impaled together with the spear during Sex. HAHA. These dumb teens should learn that if they have sex, they're dead. ;)
One of, if not the best installment of The Friday series. I love the grittiness almost exploitation feel of this film at some points. And the Pre-Zombie Jason has always been way creepier to me than the later films. I

Friday the 13th Part 2 is actually better than the first. It has more suspense, terror, and blood. The body count is definitely bigger than the first and there are actually a few "jump" scenes. The sequel has everything the first one has, and uses the thing it does have and improves on it, which is a plus. Although Part 2 did miss something. The acting. The original there was at least two characters I liked, in this one, almost none. But it's barely an issue. Every movie usually has bad acting. Overall, Part 2 is a worthy sequel. If you liked the first, you'll definitely like this.
I Love this instalment in the Friday the 13th series...it's dark, brooding sense of impending death and isolation, and I liked the iconic sack "mask", and people say all sequels are bad?. The deaths are good but I feel in places they are edited.... the storyline is good, Acting is good, and it the film in which Jason finally appears....a must for you dvd collection
Another classic. And the sack is back Febuary 13th 2009.

I think this is better than the first! The first takes longer to get going but this one has all the mystery in straight away and builds up to a very memorable climax! This also has loads of jumpy moments and I even screamed once! Which isn't what I usually do!

Part 2 , like the original has such a creepy , edge of your seat feel to it that I love and is suspensful in all the right places. The kills and blood are pretty good , especially the double impalement. When the movie starts to get to the climax it really hits high gear and the tension ratchets right up. A great sequel in the franchise as are parts 3 and 4. I believe the first 4 are classic Friday movies as they were actually fucking scary.
Great movie acting was great , kills were good . The first four films were great i dont know what happened after that. The campfire seen was great and the seen with the spear in the bedroom was cool(dont hav sex cuz u know what happens). The first four Fridays were some of the best horror movies of all their low budget and that makes them great. I wish they would make more movies like these now
One of my fav Friday The 13th movies. Acting is good and the blood effects are alright.

The first two movies of friday the 13th just build up to how great the 3rd is. The second features Jason with a bag on his head, I wonder if the starngers to homage to that..hmmm.....Anyways the final scene is really good, very classic. Great franchise, first 3 films are good, after that the series gets stale.
Out of the entire series, parts 1-4 are my favs. Part II goes a little deeper into the Jason legend. One of the best scenes for me is one of the simplest ones. The campfire sequence is the first image that comes to mind when I think about Part II. John Furey did a masterful job of telling that campfire tale. It's an A-Z 8o's slasher flick. I only wish that the kills weren't edited so much. Hopefully since they're releasing the original film uncut, the other sequels will follow. The older films(1-4)just seem to have a more realistic/human element to them. The atmosphere, the use of light & shadow. If you believe in the environment in the film, it makes the story more believable. The rustic countryside, campsite, gave the film a very down to Earth quality. The new horror films just seem a bit too polished for my taste. I like the low budget horror much better. They just seem to concentrate more on the scares & less on the look, which is something that's sorely lacking in horror these days, although there are exceptions here & there. What I mean is that the location doesn't look like it was just built the day before filming began. It's been there a long time, there's a history there. It's old, worn, & dirty. That's what makes the older Friday films stand out for me. I think if they'd have stopped after Part 4, it would have saved the integrity of the series. Jason was killed off & the story came full circle. I do like bits & pieces of the newer films, but the heart of the franchise resides in parts 1-4. That's my two cents on the subject!!! I'm Quint's Machete & I approve this review!!!
As a young lad, "Friday the 13th Part:2" never really quite satisfied me as much as the movies that followed.
Not enough killings or blood,....and no hockey mask!! A recent viewing of this classic sequel provided this reviewer with a much needed refresher course in Camp Blood trivia. Part 2 has a lot going for it. Most notably, it is a nice look at the beginnings of a horror cult icon in his heyday.
While many of the killings in Part 2 go unseen or unbloodied, there are a few goodies that work nicely. We get a great psychological profile into the mind of Jason, which proves to be quite compelling indeed. Solid scripting, great production design and some good acting help this sequel to work masterfully. And although I have always been a long supporter of the hockey mask, there is just something truly dreadful (in a good and scary way) about seeing Jason run around with a burlap sack over his head.
This is the young, impressionable, hillbilly Jason... a character whose anger, rage, and depravity make him hard not to love. ;-) It's all very creepy ...and very effective!! While still not my personal favorite, "Friday the 13th Part 2" proves to be a solid, insightful, and very entertaining sequel in the long running successful franchise.
I loved the hooded jason version, it's funny looking and strange, this one is pretty similar tot he first, except this time it's really jason killing...classic stuff.
Not as good as the first but still doesn't stop this from being a great sequel some say better than part one not quite as good but still a very memorable sequel very recommended especially if you loved the original. The teenagers seemed to be around the same as the original actors acting still was good at all (Friday the 13th never had good teenager actors) Score for me seemed about a bit better than the first. A great sequel.
The original is scarier and more atmospheric, but if it wasn't, from a technically stand-point, it's hard to tell the difference between the two. Both are trash, but they're both equally as poor.
friday the 13th part 2 was to me just as good as the 1st one was. Jason had a awesome mask in this film and this movie made me jump a few times.(I have a surround sound system and i was watching the movie with the sound all the way up at midnight last night.) I thought this movie was pretty scary and had some really good kills. good way 2 bring jason onto the screen for the 1st time.
This movie is pretty good. Not the original that the first one was, but still good. It is a little less on the tensiona and style that the first one had, but good. I don't love this movie but i don't hate it. it is ok.
