Woody Harrelson has been entertaining me since I was old enough to enjoy Natural Born Killers. When I first saw the trailer for Zombieland, I was overwhelmed with expectations. However, recently, Hollywood has formed a habit of leaving me SORELY and Morosely dissapointed.
Thank the movie gods that Zombieland wasn't one of these dissapointments. The movie was utterly enjoyable in every facet of the genre. I've always loved zombie movies, and I must say that Zombieland was a hilarious take on a zombie apocalypse movie.
The acting was genuine and warming, by all of the actors. The storyline was good and original, and the special effects were great. I'm also a big fan of good opening credit sequences, which Zombieland also delivered, with Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" set to slow-motion shots of people being chased by ravenous flesh-eaters. And when Woody came into the picture in his never ending search for a Twinkie, the already comical and entertaining flick became consistently funny. I would conclude that Zombieland is a great film, definately deserving of the hype it raised. A new spin on a timeless subject, I would advise anyone whit a sense of humor to see this movie. Oh, and for those of you who didn't enjoy it, I have one thing to say...

"NUT UP OR SHUT UP."

This film is absolutely hilarious. Although the plot is basic (a disease turns 99% of the earth's pollution into mindless zombies) It somehow still manages to seem fresh. It has one of the greatest opening credit montages I have ever seen. Slow motion zombie attacks all played out to Metallica's for whom the bell tolls. The zombie violence is goofy comic mayhem rather than nasty. That's not to say that anything is held back in the gore stakes. Some really monstrous and brutal kills are shown in graphic detail. The four main cast members have a fun chemistry. But for me Woody Harrelson, who I have always thought is very much underrated. Gives a wonderfully musing performance as the quirky hero. He very much dominates the film. Not only showing what a great comic actor he is but he also manages to portray really moments of emotion. And finally what really made this film for me was the special cameo from a Hollywood comic legend. It has to be a cameo to end all cameos. You probably know who it is by now, but I won't say just in case you don't? Oh don't forget the subplot of tracking down a Twinkie? Very random but genius at the same time.

it was ok. entertaining, but i kind of expected more from woody harrelson, he is brilliant and he could have brought more to his role....

Zombieland is the best movie I've seen all year and I don't toss that statement around too much. Believe the hype, this is a phenomenal movie. What's just so awe-inspiring is how fun it is and it's such a delight to have a horror film that doesn't suck and where, in terms of plot and characters, the films' departments are present. The film is just so engaging and just lulls you in from the start. Even the opening credits are inspiring. If you are tired of generic, awful films from Hollywood, go see this movie. It's worth every penny.

While not the perfect film that many claim it to be, it is still a damned fine film and certainly the best horror/comedy hybrid to come along since Shaun Of The Dead.

Posted By: iNSANEmoments at 3:06am, November 8, 2009

The script was amazing. The gore was amazing. But I just didn't like the movie, really. It wasn't memorable, compared to Diary of the Dead and such. I'm sort of sick and tired of these horror/comedy movies. Really people, stick to horror unless you can make it work.

This is a movie with awesome settings, great visuals, fun action sequences - yet it doesn't hit a jackpot IMO.

The main character is too cliché with his WAY underplayed humor, which at times drain the movies energy. The three other main characters are enjoyable and edgy, and have funny character traits.

Another flaw of the movie is the plot, that feels too thin at times. I do enjoy fun brainless zombie action, but I just cannot carry an entire movie!

You can think of this movie as Adventureland with zombies. Where the humor at times is of the concept "So sad it is funny".

The movie is definitely worth checking out, but it doesnt live up to the hype. The movie has too little charm to be a great movie; it is just good.

Posted By: trickytreats at 5:06pm, November 5, 2009

I headr too much hype going into this movie, but still enjoyed it overall. It had a great mix of characters and everyone was an excellent actor. I wouldn't mind seeing them do a sequel.

I thought that this movie was fucking hilarious! I was laughing all through it, especially when Bill Murry got shot. And the whole Twinky addiction made every minute worthwhile!

Brilliant! It's been a long time since I felt like seeing the perfect movie.

Posted By: luciadelabyss at 4:44am, October 23, 2009

I have been a zombie fan for about 35 years. Gory, silly, pre CGI, made for TV...I try to catch them all. I liked the marketing for Zombieland and thought it had potential. It was even better than I expected. The humor stayed steady thru it all and the characters were consistant. No one ruined the surprise for me, which was nice. :) I'm not a fan of hand-held camera work; although a little documentary might bring a "you are here" touch to a movie, too much distracts from the story. I was happy to see that this was not going to be an issue for Zombieland. Some of the things they did were crazy, but maybe that would be a logical reaction if people thought they were living one day at a time. This was truly a escapist movie that still nade me the second time I saw it.

Posted By: conzpiracy at 6:38pm, October 21, 2009

Great fun, likeable characters - will definitely be buying and re-watching many times :D

On the flip side, there could have been more elaborate kills. Not quite Shaun of the Dead, but awesome in its own right.

Posted By: horrorbuff28 at 4:42pm, October 20, 2009

one of the greatest zombie movies i have ever seen. Way better than shaun of the dead.

Posted By: twist3d at 3:52pm, October 20, 2009

Absolutely awesome movie. There is no thriller or suspense aspect to this movie...except maybe for the clown. I definitely recommend seeing this movie if you're a Woody Harrelson fan. He played a great role in this film. Cheers.

Posted By: brian paulin at 11:50pm, October 19, 2009

Pas drôle ni fun, c'est mou, bon pour les adolescents qui n'ont jamais vu de vrais films de zombies... Il n'arrive pas à la cheville de Shaun of the dead, préférez lui "Doghouse", très bon lui aussi avec son humour british...

Posted By: DeadHeadBitch at 9:15pm, October 19, 2009

The scary clown in the toilet scene made me scream. freakin scary clown!!
The addition of Bill Murray was awesome..

It kind ended with me wanting more of the movie..it felt so unfinished...Like it continue into another movie (please I would love that)
Love the quirky humor, love Woody as a readneck.
I found what I did see very entertaining and I liked purell boy's survival list.

Posted By: fmyers1 at 6:41pm, October 19, 2009

Awesome. Great soundtrack, acting, zombies, everything. Hope theres a sequel.

Posted By: chattiemae at 5:48pm, October 19, 2009

Zombieland is another movie I have been waiting to see for quite some time and I was not disappointed by it in the least. Really funny
movie with lots of great dialogue between all of
the characters, but I thought Jesse Eisenberg was
the best! I have never really cared for Woody
Harrelson before this movie, but he was perfect for his role. Maybe not quite as good as Shaun
of the Dead, but definitely close.

Posted By: Rom_138 at 11:00pm, October 18, 2009

Im a hugefan of zombie movies and I really enjoyed zombie land. It had some scenes that were very funny but there were also parts of the movie that slowed it down in its tracks for me. It might just be me but for a movie called zombie land I would of liked to see more zombie killing. I also would of liked to see creative or gory kills which I think the movie lacked. Besides it getting really slow for me in some parts it was a cool movie

Posted By: MadMac at 6:26pm, October 18, 2009

Fantastic!!! I laughed my ass off the whole way through. Woody kills in this movie. The chemistry between the rest of the cast was right on point. The scene were he introduces the "Cardio" rule makes me laugh everytime I think of it. I enjoyed this movie more than "Shaun Of The Dead" and recommend it to anyone who is a "Shaun" fan.

Posted By: RainbowDark at 3:53pm, October 17, 2009

This movie certainly quenched my thirst for a hardcore zombie thriller. The make-up was astounding and the characters did a great job developing over the course of the film. Though with Bill Murray, I sort of lost a bit of iterest. It just seemed too odd.

The chase scenes are fantastic.

All that for a twinky.

Posted By: zog71 at 11:29am, October 16, 2009

In my opinion, not as funny as Shaun of the Dead, but still very funny. One the best movies I watched this year, and kind of bummed that I haven't seen it again yet, but hope so. Will definitely be a buyer. Woody Harrelson was excellent, and the rules showing up on screen when one should be applied was hilarious. Go and enjoy this film, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Posted By: ghostofhaddonfield78 at 12:43am, October 16, 2009

great movie, agree with everyone that its not a horror movie but its a nice mix of comedy with a little horror thrown in. i loved the characters and Emma Stone is hot! wasnt the funniest movie ive seen but there were several funny moments and some actually gory moments as well. the opening credits rocked and i liked the ending. the only problem i had was it kinda slowed down towards the middle but the bill murray stuff made up for that. overall great fun movie that you should check out, especially if you enjoy zombie movies.

Posted By: BigApple at 6:33pm, October 15, 2009

The first thing you should probably know is that Zombieland is NOT A HORROR MOVIE. I say that with no intent of encouraging people not to see this film. In fact, I encourage you to see this film. And remember, I don't get a cent for telling you this. But Zombieland is without doubt, hilarious. It's a damned good movie.

Zombieland has already started getting compared to Shaun Of The Dead and tonally it is very much the same. But it's still a very different movie than Shaun Of The Dead. First of all, Shaun of the Dead didn't have Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, and that's a lot. I think most people forget that Harrelson came into the public consciousness by portraying Woody on Cheers. In case you're either too young or you were living at the bottom of a lake or something, and never saw it, he was hilarious. It seems that either because of his choices in roles or the occasional pieces written on him in gossip rags, people don't realize that the guy is extremely funny. Tallahassee is really the kind of role Harrelson is not only best in, but probably meant to be playing. It's a great, ass kicking, over the top, insane character with a huge heart. Tallahassee is the reverse of Shaun in Shaun Of The Dead.

Then you've got Jesse Eisenburg playing Columbus. Eisenburg got his big break in Roger Dodger, opposite Campbell Scott. Here, he's working opposite Harrelson, and it's really one of the best on screen duo's in a long time, right up there with Pegg and Frost, of Shaun of the Dead. Eisenburg succeeds in making a character which could have been annoying into a really sympathetic character you root for and never fails to deliver on the laughs. He's an extremely talented young actor, and if his success continues, there are going to be some great roles and great chances to prove the strength of his talent. The rules of survival Columbus comes up with, and are the center of the narration in the beginning of the film, are hilarious. In showing his first romantic encounter the film is great in the balance it strikes between the truly hilarious and disgustingly unsettling. I don't think any of us are looking for our relationships to go where that one does.

Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin show up and really turn things on their heads. As two girls trying to survive in Zombieland, at all costs, they give our two protagonists quite a dilemma to deal with. They both give good performances and are the perfect foils to Harrelson's balls to the wall machismo and Eisenburg's scared of his own shadow nerd.

Let's also not pass up the fact that there are some really great effects in this film. The film makers came up with some new and inventive ways to dispatch zombies. It's no Dead Alive or Evil Dead, but there's no shortage of gore of in Zombieland either. Instead of being designed to turn your stomach, it's all played for laughs, and it's done extremely well.

Zombieland is more expansive than most of the other zombie films we've ever seen. It does a great job of really selling you the idea that it is an entire country now over run with zombies. Unlike most zombie films, the characters in this film are on the go, they're not holed up somewhere, fighting off the zombie hordes from within some position they've tried to fortify. As a fan of horror movies and zombie films, this was a refreshing change. Personally, I'm waiting for the zombie opus that shows the world disintegrating as the zombies take over, not just jumping immediately to the world which has already been taken over by zombies, but I guess I'll have to keep waiting or write it myself. The film makers did do a great job of designing and the world as it would be should it have been taken over by zombies. I probably appreciated this more than most people would, but I had to give them credit for it.

The short story on Zombieland is that it's extremely entertaining. Zombie films as a genre have had a long tradition of being extremely dark and deeply bleak. If you go back to Night Of The Living Dead, you're dealing with an extremely unsettling, nihilistic take on the state of human affairs, and with a few exceptions, that's been the standard. Zombieland will easily take it's place alongside the few zom-com's (as they're being called now) people really have a soft spot in their hearts for. It's a good film and deserves to be enjoyed and passed along from friend to friend just as it's predecessors, Shaun Of The Dead and Return Of The Living Dead have been.

You won't regret having spent the money on a ticket to see Zombieland, and considering the majority of films being released these days, that's saying a whole hell of a lot.

Maybe it was the fact that the movie theatre I was in was nearly empty, maybe it was the people I was with that saw this movie before they came with me, or maybe it's true...Zombieland was a fun movie. Woody was perfect, the idea of "rules" were well put and yes, the movie was funny, but not that funny. By now you can tell that I'm not like a lot of the others on here that find this movie to be THE comedy horror movie of all time because there wasn't any non-stop laughs, it was funny yes, but not laugh so hard I cry or let alone so funny I laughed for a long period of time. The beginning of this movie gave me high hopes but it slowly died as time went on (there wasn't any zombies for the hour) and then picked up in the last little bit. There are a lot of memorable quotes in here as well, but funny? A little yes. That's the only reason for the rating, it didn't live up to the hype I heard of. It was a fun time at the movies non the less.

This is awsome! I knew I would dig it from the trailer but I had the best time I have had in a theater in some time. I recommend this to anyone who likes zombie movies.

Posted By: Kaname Tousen at 2:42am, October 14, 2009

Alright this was pretty damn cliche but made me forget about some of them. First off the rules, the rules were prefect like Max Brook's Zombie survival guide, dumb down into 31 rules. Bill Murray, his scenes brought a smile to my face but the second I noticed the weapon was right between the characters(at the start of ghostbusters) I knew it wouldn't end well. Woody was great, he portrayed his role in a unique way, while he seems like that natural badass, he's not his character is slightly deeper then that. the girls were great atleast in the beginning then they became the stereotypical roles. Nice ads in it for the movie 2012 showing that this type of thing could happen today and not any time during the 70's-90's.

The opening was great but I found a big flaw in that one character's origins have them on World of Warcraft but no one online seems to be trying to tell about an outbreak. That and the fact the sisters in the final act were so stupid trying to make that one wish come true, that they would toss all natural instincts out the window, that they wouldn't notice it would result in what happens.

I enjoyed this movie and if I watched it with my friends it would have been great fun time. oh yeah never relax in the bathroom!Limber up! Cardio!

7 out of 10

Posted By: captrips at 11:52pm, October 13, 2009

An enjoyable movie but unlike most of the reviewers on here, I did not find it to be non-stop laughs or action. Some parts were laugh out loud hysterical but I found myself saying at several points "are they going to run into some zombies soon?"

I liked the characters enough but at times it was like Superbad-lite. I guess Columbus could have used a Jonah Hill-like sidekick to work some banter off of so that he would not be seen as just the lonely neurotic. Or there should have at least been one a$$holish character that could get the zombie-genre treatment of being pulled apart. Basically, all of the elements that made 'Shaun of the Dead' stand out.

Anyway, it was still a fun time at the movies.

LOVE IT!! Great gore and great comedy!

Posted By: kryptonite_soul at 12:25pm, October 13, 2009

fantastic, i cant remember the last time i had so much fun in a cinema. I cant remember as well the last time i laughed so much watching a film. The gore is amazing the charachterizations are amazing and so well developed. I thought this was such much better than its obvious comparison "Shaun of The Dead" but were as shaun of the dead took hours to get going this is blood soaked from the first frame and after all is said and done this film is just drop dead cool.

Posted By: dead spaced at 4:27pm, October 12, 2009

I really liked this movie! Though I don't think it was Shaun of the Dead-great, Zombieland definitely has a lot of charm and redeeming value. It has great comedy coupled with some gruesome special effects, but it's most redeeming qualities are in it's characters and the actors who play them. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre. Zombieland is a pure popcorn movie and is pretty refreshing in the zombie genre. It has no heavy-handed preaching about the dangers of the advancement of science. You will not find it to be an indictment of consumer culture or high society (looking at you, Romero!). All you will hopefully have is a great time!

great movie, best horror/comedy I've seen, crossing fingers for sequel

Posted By: drummerface at 10:14pm, October 10, 2009

A very unexpected thrill ride. With good death scenes and overall very well written comedy... Will watch again

Posted By: Scurgar at 9:10pm, October 10, 2009

Obviously most people who watch this film consider it an instant comedy horror classic, and I say good for them. I'm glad a lot of people got so much enjoyment out of this film.

Myself on the other hand had some good chuckles... and that's about it. For me this movie wasn't the non-stop laugh-fest I was told it would be. Sure there are some very funny scenes, but I found these to be few and far between. Maybe it's the fact that I'm getting bored by the 'neurotic loser protagonist' comedy. If Woody's character and the little girl had been the only characters in the entire movie, I get the feeling I would have found it a lot funnier. The dialogue between them IS hilarious, there's just very little of it.

Either way, just about everyone found this film to be comedy gold, so maybe you should just ignore my review... but I'm putting it up anyways, SO SUCK ON IT.

Posted By: Prof. Lumpcicle at 9:18pm, October 9, 2009

You just get teh feeling when watching this that this is an instant timeless classic.

Good work, Zombieland!

Posted By: paintingteapots at 7:52pm, October 9, 2009

This movie is truly epic. Definitely one of my all time favorite movies. I could watch this again and again!

Posted By: LuJr81 at 4:26pm, October 9, 2009

This movie was a blast, Woody was great as Tallahassee. And the cameo by Bill Murray was pretty funny too. Its not on Shaun of the Dead's level, but its still a great zom-com. Hope they work on the sequel soon. Highly recommended.

Posted By: Dalanna at 12:41pm, October 9, 2009

i loved this movie! it is really the best movie i have seen in a long time! just fantastic!

Posted By: macgetmalled at 4:15am, October 9, 2009

Goofy, bloody silliness and a former cast member of a beloved 80’s movie, I enjoyed Zombieland. It is 80 minutes of wannabe 80’s horror film fun. It has a nice love of the genre it is in.

Posted By: xXxZombie_HolocaustxXx at 6:17pm, October 8, 2009

fricken hillarious!! full of gore and laughs i absolutely loved it! anybody who hasen't seen it go out and see it now

its pretty good

Posted By: Anal Yogurt at 12:42am, October 8, 2009

Absolutely brilliant, hilarious on so many ends. I don't have anything to complain about honestly well one thing I wish it was longer but that won't stop me from seeing it again. Also Emma Stone is beautiful to the max. :)

Posted By: Violent_Messiah at 10:32pm, October 7, 2009

To call zommbieland a poor man's Shaun of the Dead is an insult to both Shaun of the Dead and poor men, it would be most accurate to call it the stupid man's Shaun of the Dead might start to get close. ZL is neither funny nor interesting, the zombie effects are okay but that does not make it a good movie and the constant narration and use of the animated pop up "rules" are both unnecessary distractions

Posted By: Violator86 at 11:27am, October 7, 2009

I went into this movie expecting to be disappointed. Too much hype and most hype machines crash and burn...usually.
Jesse Eisenberg, whom I thought was that kid from Superbad was actually where I thought this movie would fail most.
He was actually one of the bigger highlights in an almost flawless film.
It's well put together and well thought out. The humor isn't lost on any audience member and the jumps still make you jump.
Laugh, jump, laugh, jump. It really worked well.
The show stealer was Woody Harrelson, absolutely. His character is amazing and he leaves you wanting to see more of his characters adventures. I easily give this film 5 full skulls. Good job zombies, good job.

Posted By: emomoshingranger at 8:19am, October 7, 2009

so fucking funny
im deffo owning this on dvd when it comes out xD

Posted By: nightmareslayer at 8:13am, October 7, 2009

Great horror comedy! Right up there with Shaun of the Dead. Gotta follow the rules if you want to survive a Zombie appocalypse! Let's just say I need to work on my cardio! haha!

Posted By: Blood-Splatter at 1:00am, October 7, 2009

Action-packed film with comedic one-liners, laughable situations, and insane kills. Recommended to every individual who loves laughs and gore. It is Dawn of the Dead mixed with comparable comedic level of films such as Superbad and The Hangover

Posted By: Slashaholic at 8:56pm, October 6, 2009

i wasn't expecting much ,but after the first 5 minutes watching this movie i was glued to the screen for the next hour ,i really enjoyed it . 9/10 for me

Posted By: Guitarded at 8:36pm, October 6, 2009

effing hillarious. great movie all around. going to see it for round two in about 15 minutes...

Posted By: riotsquid1408 at 8:27pm, October 6, 2009

i thought it was a fun and great movie

Posted By: gorehunter at 1:33am, October 6, 2009

The movie was entertaining for entertainment's sake. I would not consider it anywhere scary but like dawn of the dead without the laughtrack. It was funny as hell and the pace was good. The relationship between the characters grew more closer together and gave it that lovy duvy mushy feeling which make a nice contrast to the drooling, oozing, growling, scowling, howling zombies that hung around looking for some fresh meat.

Posted By: Bloodbass at 12:47am, October 6, 2009

not nearly as good as people are saying. and i agree that when the girls get to the amusement park they turn into the two biggest idiots ever. bil murray was great though. it was good to see him have a little fun

Posted By: ultrazilla2000 at 11:49pm, October 5, 2009

Zero plot, yet entertaining as hell! The chicks were stupid as fuck once they got to the amusement park, but otherwise, the characters were awesome. Some of the best zombie effects ever too!
A definite must see.

Posted By: JasonFlett at 10:35pm, October 5, 2009

amazing!!! funny and so entertaining :]
will def see this again

Posted By: tracim813 at 10:34pm, October 5, 2009

We've already seen it twice, and it was better the second time. Such a great movie - even better than expected.

Posted By: Misfitc420@yahoo.com at 4:32pm, October 5, 2009

Zombieland was funny and action packed. The jokes were funny and the soundtrack was pretty good. I would suggest this movie even for those who are not zombie or horror fans. Even rednecks will love this one.

Posted By: satanslilsunbeam at 1:05pm, October 5, 2009

Hands down, the most fun that I've had at a movie in a very long time. Witty, hiliarious, gory ahd fun without dumbing things down. Definitely the heir to the crown of Shaun of the Dead. Lives up to and surpasses all of the hype. Gory and with enough horror/zombie nods to please horror fans while being funny enough for even non horror fans. I walked out of the theater ready to turn around and see it again. Loved it.

Posted By: dabay at 3:16am, October 5, 2009

not that good

Posted By: brucybad at 2:07am, October 5, 2009

I loved every second of this film! A day 1 purchase for me when it is released on Bluray. Its the perfect zombie action/comedy. Its bloody, funny, and fun! Go see Zombieland as soon as possible!

Posted By: bigmoosie at 11:14pm, October 4, 2009

INSATANT CLASSIC! I enjoyed everything about this movie. I think when this movie hits dvd and blueray it will have excellent replay value. I know I want to see it again, and again. The comedy was spot on, good gore, and EXCELLENT MUSIC from begining to end. I can not praise this movie enough. The cameo from B.M. the MAN! was just awsome. I would recomend this movie to everyone I know that loves Horror even those that don't. Stay through the end of the credits, there is a little surprise at the end.

Posted By: fenderxx at 10:59pm, October 4, 2009

Loved every second of it. Totally worth my money, and I have not said that in a VERY long time, especially about a horror movie.

Posted By: horroraddiction at 10:57pm, October 4, 2009

A good movie BUT definitely not as funny as people say. The gore fulfills but I'm afraid the movie would have been done for without Woody Harrelson.

Posted By: msamy at 10:47pm, October 4, 2009

I freakin' love zombies and I love to laugh so this movie was made for me and it didn't disappoint! I made sure not to read any reviews and hype about the movie so I could be surprised and I was in so many awesome ways!! Bill Murry?? Common, you can't get much better than a cameo from him! All the acting was great, Woody was amazing ("That'll do pig), the zombie kills were nice and gory and funny, the rules had me dying- especially at the start, and I just had such a great time watching this movie I didn't want it to end! And I am absa-fucking-lutely seeing this for a second time in the theatre and yes it is because of rule number 2- double tap! Great writing, great acting, great gory zombies, great kills, great humor, I am in love! Please, please make a sequel with the same actors- minus BM of course :)

Woody Harrelson makes this movie one of the funniest horror films to come out in a long time. His character was amazing and his attitude towards zombies was awesome, Bill Murry was fucking priceless and made me cry out loud laughing the man still gots it. and the gore was pretty fucking decent, i loved when a zombies head would shoot blood all over the payment it was awesome looking and the fact that Emma Stone was in it made it that much more lovely shes hot. theres was little horror factor to this movie as most of it was comedy and as "Horror_Luva" said i'll be seeing this one again in the theatre because "Rule Number 2 - Double Tap"

Posted By: Case at 9:57pm, October 4, 2009

Shaun of the dead was much more entertaining than this movie. Most of the action sequences were pretty boring, and the zombie kills were nothing special... Probably won't see this movie again.

Posted By: DIS.AR.RAY at 7:21pm, October 4, 2009

Let me start out by saying INCREDIBLY and PLEASANTLY surpised. I figured this was just one of those "movies". Ya know, like "date movie" or "epic movie". It would be a "zombie movie", or if not, would still overwhelmingly suck [despite the appearance of Woody Harrelson].

I was very wrong. Woody Harrelson [even though I absolutley adore him] was not nearly the best thing about this movie. A slightly-longer-than-a-cameo by Bill Murray, incredible dialogue, insanely hilarious plot, and a good dynamic all flow together splendedly in this comedy of ages. :D

I also like their choice is actors. I like that instead of choosing the obvious pick of the main character, Colombus, [Michael Cera would be the obiouvs pick], they went with someone different, which I thought was an amazing move.

5/5, definatley

Zombieland is one of those movies that leave an imprint of your mind that you wont shut up about is for a weel. The story is basic but good enough to keep you glued to the screen. Dont think this is just a plain old comedy. It has enough gore and guts to keep up with hostel. its very fast paced and the characters are so dimensional that you will be cheering for each one, but the one person that steals the movie is emma stone. this is her first horror related movie and a good one to be in. personally i feel that she was the best character in the movie. all in all bring your mom, dad, girlfriend etc and see Zombieland a guranteed cult hit

Posted By: MattSlash at 5:44pm, October 4, 2009

What an laugh at loud riot! It was well written, witty, fast paced, entertaining and most importantly FUN! It does have its fair share of zombie action and goo and some jump scenes but it focused more on it's characters and laughs than being scary and violent but that's a given and that really doesn't get in its way to soar. Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg make the perfect comedy team, man were they funny together, Abigail Breslin and Emma Stone were also great but unfortunately hottie Amber Heard is only in one scene. I think it really didn't bring anything new or fresh to the genre but who knew that a movie like Zombieland could be the funniest, most entertaining and the most fun time at the movies you will most likely have this year, it brings the zombie genre back to life again, I'd say bring on the sequel!! Overall it's not the best horror movie you'll see this year but it sure is the best comedy I've seen in awhile and is definitely more fun and entertaining than the decent but overrated Shaun Of The Dead. Highly recommended!

If you see one movie before Z Day actually arrives, see Zombieland. It's got all the gore, laughs and character you could ever hope for.

Just got back from this......Funny as shit. Defiantely worth owning when it hits DVD or Blue-Ray. And I agree with Mr. Disgusting (again) that the Bill Murray scene is fucking priceless.

Posted By: Horror_Luva at 10:26pm, October 3, 2009

FUCKING AWESOME!

I just got back from the movies and I still have a smile on my face. It's kinda hard to leave the movie theatre feeling disatisfied after seeing this brilliant horror/comedy.

The movie starts off with comedy and it never, not for one second, lets up. It's funny throughout and there are some moments (especially with Bill Murray) that are possibly cry-from-laughing so hard.

All the characters were great, the acting was great, and the zombies were all great-looking.

The slow motion sequences were STUNNING!

Highly recommend this incredible flick.
Quite possibly the best horror comedy of the year, followed by Drag Me To Hell.

I'll deffinately be seeing this one in theatres again, because..

RULE #2: DOUBLE TAP.

Posted By: downward_spiral at 5:57pm, October 3, 2009

This was such a badass horror/comedy. I loved everything about it. The best part I thought was the whole random Bill Murray thing. Such a good movie. So if you want some really good laughs go see it. Nut up or Shut up!

Posted By: TheBurning at 5:47pm, October 3, 2009

2nd best movie of the year. 1st: Inglorious basterds. Best Horror Movie of the year and Comedy. Love Woody. Emma is fucking hot. The suprise star was really awesome because I'm a big fan of his. Go see this movie now. You won't be disapointed.

Fucking Awesome!!! Best horror of 2009!!!!

Posted By: Anunakki at 5:03pm, October 3, 2009

Mediocre at best.

Harrelson plays a character we have seen a thousand times before....the cool, funny tough guy with a heart of gold. Kurt Russell and others have done it much better.

One of the most derivative and linear narratives Ive ever seen. There is not one twist or turn to the plot. Lets go from point A to B to C with no surprises.

The cameo was forced and totally jumped the shark. It stopped the movie dead in its tracks.

The last act was a perfect of example of how action sequences can be more boring than 2 people chatting in a diner.

I didnt hate it. It had lots of entertaining scenes sprinkled throughout. But it felt less like a movie than a bunch of Hollywood guys goofing around with their buddies, which worked in Oceans 11 but not so much here.

All it did was make me want to go watch Shaun of the Dead afterwards...

Posted By: deadgoon697 at 5:02pm, October 3, 2009

I actually didn't want to see it, but some friends I hadn't seen in a awhile wanted to go so we did. And I was very, very impressed. Maybe it's cause I had low expectations but regardless it's a great movie and it's worth seeing it just for the cameo halfway through.

Posted By: JTJ10 at 4:21pm, October 3, 2009

I LOVED IT. My favorite movie so far. Its on my top 5 definitely. Hilarious. Rule #1:CARDIO...omfg, so funny. TWINKIE!!!!!!!

Best horror movie of the year... I think... yeah it is. Go see this please. Give this movie the support it needs because it is up against two comedies that look pretty damn good too.

Nut UP or Shut UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could watch this movie a billion times; the ultimate compliment.

Posted By: tarman82 at 1:06pm, October 3, 2009

one of the few times that I had high expectations for a movie and was still blown away, this movie has everything, great laughs, scares, and an awesome cameo, and Woody Harrelson kickin' ass!right after the movie I wanted a twinkie real bad, but had to settle for Jack in the box, i must say an easy 10

Posted By: B-DReview at 11:51am, October 3, 2009

I went to this movie knowing it would be good and I was right. This was one of THE BEST zombie films I have ever seen. It was very funny, well-scripted, and it made everyone in the theater laugh. My only problem, however, is the fact that at 81 minutes, the movie does run a bit too short. I wish it was longer so I could have kept laughing, but still I was very impressed. In this movie, you'll meet a celebrity that will make your day. Overall, I have to give this one a 10/10. Good job ZOMBIELAND!

Posted By: fathermalachi at 11:38am, October 3, 2009

It makes you want a twinkie. Nice cameos. Woody was a badass. It has heart, laughs, gore, and that fucking clown. Awesome!!

Posted By: LordAzalin at 3:15am, October 3, 2009

I have to agree with most the sentiment expressed here: this movie was fucking brilliant! I thought it was going to be funny, but this was a wonderful surprise. It was the funniest horror film that I've seen in a long time - not counting Rob Zombie's Halloween II. It's destined to be a classic, no doubt. The bit with Bill Murray alone was beyond funny. One of the best films that I've seen all year. So much was good about the film - the humorous dialogue, the gory special effects, the music (Metallica and Van Halen)!, story, actors, everything... As someone else here said, this film is so much better than "Shaun of the Dead," which I also liked. Definitely check it out!

Zombieland was a blast from beginning to end! It was the perfect blend of horror comedy with enough gore to keep you cringing and enough humor to keep you laughing. It was fantastic! Definitely a buy for me when it comes out. The pacing was great and so was the acting. The unexpected cameo was fantastic and had me rolling. Great work to the cast and crew!!!

I didn't know what to expect from Zombieland, but what I got was an awesome movie that doesn;t let up. From the amazing opening titles, to the comedy throughout, it really good. Think of it as a "How to sruvive a Zombie outbreak". Hilrious...especially the cameo of certain actor...almost shit my pants from laughing...

Posted By: JohnnyHorror30 at 4:51pm, October 2, 2009

Nut up or shut up! ZOMBIELAND is one of the greatest movies ever! A thrill ride of laughs and blasts. And one of the biggest SURPRISES ever captured on film that brings us back in time. Certified #1

Short and simple, Its a great lil film, nonstop action and laughs and had way more laughs then i thought it would lol for what it is, its a PERFACT movie

Posted By: nohandtyper at 3:11pm, October 2, 2009

I saw an advanced screening of this movie about two weeks ago and had so much fun. Absolutely hilarious! I love the zombie aspect and the whole showdown at the amusement park was awesome! Love this movie!

Posted By: chainsawboi25 at 12:23pm, October 2, 2009

Zombieland was truly great. Great quirky, well developed characters that breath fresh life into the tired but lovable zombie genre. The film makers truly do a great job of making the film lively and clever. It's funny, sad, scary and even action packed. It's really like nothing you've ever seen before I highly reccommend it.

I am not a "fan" of the zombie sub-genre. So, what caught my interest? The idea of having zombies in a theme park and the cast couldn't get better!

We have Woody Harrelson (this guy is always awesome), Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. They are great in the film and have so much chemistry. The characters here are not stupid, they actually kick some ass. If I was in the film I would had joined them too. Oh, let's not forget cameos by Amber Heard (I love her. Well, all the boys do lol) and Bill Murray. I must say Amber Heard's scene is awesome and I was happy to see her get some valuable screen time. She should had been one of the lead characters. To my surprise I had forgotten that Bill Murray is in it too so that was great.

The movie is just what I had in mind...a great time. The make-up effects are good therefore the zombies look good and the movie is bloody just the way I like 'em. My favorite zombies were the little girls at the birthday party. I hadn't laughed so much in a theater since this past summer's "My Sister's Keeper" which Abigail was also in. Yes, I found that stupid movie very funny because they tried so hard to make it sad and I wasn't falling for that shit. Anyways, back to ZOMBIELAND...oh yeah my only complaint is that I wanted more zombie action at the theme park. Other than that the movie is very entertaining (I don't know how anyone wouldn't have fun), bloody, funny, has a great cast and Emma Stone was like cotton candy for my eyes. I love that girl ever since I saw her in Superbad I've been stalking her career.

Some, may say 2009 has been a shitty year for horror but I disagree. From Drag Me To Hell on things have been good well except for 2 or 3 bastards which I refuse to name *cough* white horse*cough*.

Did I enjoyed it more than that overrated british zombie comedy film that we all know? Yes! So, to end this review I have to say this is one of the best of 2009. Give this a break!

9/10

Posted By: googoomuck at 11:04am, October 2, 2009

I'm defenetly adding this one to My Zombie Movie List, such an entertaining film, all the charecters were great, great opening scene, hopefully we get a part 2 but with the same director of course.

Haven't seen a movie like this for a long time,
one that you can actually enjoy while watching.
we need more fun movies like this!

Posted By: JonOfTheShred at 2:39am, October 2, 2009

I had really high hopes for this movie. REAL high hopes, I bought a ticket at 3 yesterday, packed a few bowls, and went and caught the midnight screening alone. That was one hour ago, and Zombieland did not disappoint. Zombieland met and surpassed aforementioned hopes, lit them on fire, did a backflip on them wearing football cleats, and peed to put out the fire...blindfolded. In short, Zombieland is EPIC.

Now I'm not gonna try and compare this with Shaun of the Dead, but its definitely the best zombie comedy to come out since then, and while a lot different you could say its the first American zombie comedy since in the same spirit.

What Shaun and Zombieland have in common is a great cast of characters you root for. Emma Stone and her little sister might be cruel little girls at first, but even after their first encounter and scheme I still didn't want to see the cute little girl and her hot older sister turn into zombie chowder. I wanted that Michael Cera-esque dude to snag her, because

A) I would totally commandeer Emma Stone if I found her in a zombie invasion
B) Woody Harrelson, although completely badass and awesome as Tallahassee, would definitely be robbing the cradle if he made a move. But all he wanted was a twinky, anyway.

Most of the laughs came from these vastly different personalities clashing. Woody gets the best lines, but Eisenberg almost got as many. And did I mention Emma Stone? Seriously, if the zombie apocalypse goes down, let me stumble upon a healthy Emma. Non bitten, of course, I don't want to go to sleep satisfied and wake up a necrophiliac.

Back to the actual movie. Best zombie movie all year. Not only is there gore, but I actually like these fast zombies. I definitely prefer slow zombies, but Rule #1 wouldn't have been so funny in the opening scene otherwise. Another thing I really dug was the traveling. One location is used too often in a zombie movie, and traveling around barren, ruined wastelands is always creepy and unsettling...and it makes the witty banter and exchanges between Woody and Jesse even better.

Seriously, just go see this. You will not be disappointed.
