The story really makes you think if you've seen the first movie. I hated the bad guys in the first messengers, thinking they were pure evil. Watch this and perhaps you'll realize they weren't always bad. It is sort of like Underworld, whereas in the most recent installment of that series you learn the leader of the Werewolves was/is good.

I think this one was based off the original script for The Messengers. I'm glad the Pang Bros changed it! This story is a bit weak, not scary.

This was ok not as good as i thought but it was good.
i enjoyed it, i thought it was reasonably good, they built up this intense physchological flick and then they went and spoilt with a lame and stupid ending which took a lot away from the film, it built up this brilliant Shining Esque feel and ruined it by becoming Jeepers Creepers at the end so kinda dissapointing but deffinetely one of Ghosts Houses best certainly after the god awful Grudge 3.

Just Rented this Last Night. although not too "Bad" for a Direct to Video Sequel, but it did Confuse me...I won't go into the "Plot" here, although This Movie is "Advertised" as a "Prequel" to the First, meaning it was suppose to be about the "Other" Owner of the Land and How He went Crazy and Killed his Family, thats a Crucial Plot Point in the First One, Yet, He goes Crazy alright "More or Less" and "SPOILER ALERT"-----It ends with Him and His Family "Intact" meaning he Doesn't do the Bad Bad Thing!!! So yes, this left me abit Confused as well as His "Neighbor" another Man who feel under the Land, Scarecrow, Wicked Witch of the West's Spell, and Obviously Killed his "Family' which Consisted of a "Ghostly" Little Girl and a "Younger" Wife complete with "MAN MADE" Tits and any excuse to not Wear Clothes!!! Other than this "Direction" the Movie went in, it wasn't as "Bad" as I thought it might be, yet, Nothing to go "GAGA" over either!!! As that other Famous Scarcrow Sing "If I only had a Brain" I Sing" If only the Makers of this Film Stuck with the Original Premise"....
i have to say that this movie wasnt bad, but wasnt good at the same time.....it was a perfect OK movie though! if you are looking for a good rental movie for a date then this is the movie for you!!!!
There were two solid movies that were incoherently mashed together to create "Messengers 2: The Scarecrow".
The first story, the one that had my attention, is of a man who slowly loses his mind, blurring the lines between fact and fiction.
The first story is that of a scarecrow, where the film is meant to be nothing more than a slasher. In both of these set-ups, there is something interesting happening, but the film is too bogged down in it's own genre distrust; it can't decide if it wants to be a slasher or a psychological thriller.
Not that films can't mix genres- many films have been able to thrive on the combination- but this film just doesn't quite make it. Wonderful sets, terrific actors, mediocre writing, decent execution. This film is destined to fall into nothingness, completely forgotten in a month or two.
This film is watchable. If you rent this you will be able too watch it all the way thru. It is nothing special but it is a average thriller. kind of has a shining feel too it a little.
To start off, I never saw the original. I only rented this because I'm a sucker for scarecrow movies...
To start off, this was a very well made DTV. 35mm film and nice sets. Plus a very creepy scarecrow. But...
The thin storyline and boring character exploration takes place over the scarecrow and the kills. Only two on-screen deaths (one of which is CG crap) and the scarecrow doesn't even make a good appearance until the finale. Don't get me wrong, the finale was pretty good and the scarecrow was damn creepy. The real shame is that the story doesn't even make a ton of sense- how the fuck did the scarecrow become evil? I haven't seen the original, but I don't think this has a single thing to do with it.
If you wanna see a creepy scarecrow flick with a good production value, rent it. But prepare for a long and sometimes boring wait to get what you're looking for.
