wow... Just wow. This is a great great 80s slasher. Its about a prank that leaves a man horribly BURNED. All i knew about this film was the things i read online. One thing was its a Friday the 13 rip off. Who ever says that is correct. It was probably made to cash in on the success of Friday but The Burning is done better, not 10 times better but better. The original Friday is good but not earth-shadderingly amazing. If anything you have to see this for the infamous raft scene. Watch this at 2 in the morning like i did its affective.
This is a great 80's slasher! People call it a rip off of Friday the 13th, in some ways it is i guess, but this movie isn't as boring as Friday and this one is actually GORY!!!! Friday the 13th is one of the most overrated film series out there, im srry to say but it's true.
This movie contains a long period of character development, which I actually enjoy, that some may not really like. The raft scene is great in this, probably the best part of the movie in my opinion.
Besides, Jason Alexander (Seinfeild TV show) is in this and HE HAS HAIR!!!!!
This movie is a great slasher and I give it an 8/10!
This quality little slasher flick has to be in every horror buffs film collection. Here we have a well made slasher film that delivers. It is full of cliche moments that have now become a benchmark for all other slasher films to follow. Excellent gore effects from the wizard 'Tom Savini', full of suspense with a typical story of revenge, plus it has its comical moments also. Rick Wakeman's soundtrack is cheesy but very fitting. This is a must see if you don't own it (which you should).

I found this movie very intresting, out of Friday the 13th & The burning, i prefer The burning on many different. Reasons why i love the Burning more, well - The gore, if you watch Friday the 13th Closely, there are ALOT of cut away's. Second reason, The burning screams 80'S! I love 80's movies.
Also, The burning was smart enough to leave it as the one movie.
If anyone wants to talk to me on my account, my opinion on movies! Please do comment, ill love to answer questions.
pretty much friday the 13th here, a little different story but pretty darn similar, i failed to get into this film and felt it just seemed like so many other movies and didnt have much to stand out on it's own.

Very good slasher movie. Does what it's supposed to do...providing some scares and a decent amount of blood and gore. The raft scene is a classic. The score by Rick Wakeman started grinding on my nerves after awhile. However, I still enjoyed this movie. Slasher movies have become a rather stale formula as far as I am concerned, but this is definitely one of the best examples of the genre.
The Burning is definitely an overlooked and underrated slasher film. Cropsy is one of my favorite slashers and he is one of the most deranged. This film also brought some controversy in the UK because of the two scenes where Cropsy stabs the prostitute in the stomach with the scissors and the raft massacre. I loved the raft scene. It's practically one the best killing scenes that you can find in any horror movie. The Burining is definitely a movie to watch.
This was a pretty good slasher flick. The gore effects were awesome and Cropsy was awesome looking. The only thing is I wish they would have shown Cropsy more through out the movie. But all in all very good.
I can't kiss this movie's ass enough. I love slashers and The Burning is one of the best. Fantastic gore effects from Savini and top-notch acting make this a must-have for all fans of the genre.
