Lousy direction, dialogue. Mediocre cinematography and acting. Pretty good make up effects. So while the film does achieve some production value you still can't help but be distracted by the poorly framed shots and editing. Skip this, it stinks.

This could have been a really really good movie. Instead I am stunned at how many people liked it. Maybe I missed something but the story is incomprehensible, the acting is bad at best, the movie is so dark that there's a great deal of the time that you can't even see what is going on... Shall I go on? I really believe that this could have been a very creepy film, but instead it's a mind numbing experience in predictability. Skip it

This movie totally blew me away because I wasnt expecting at how good it was. The atmosphere was very creepy and distubing at times. The characters were kinda annoying but man was it a good movie.

This was a very interesting movie. I liked though, for it to be a straigt to dvd, it was a pretty well done movie.

Ok can we talk about this movie for a bit? OMG!!!! What a creepy, awesome movie. Sure it had many character flaws and the story was going in ten directions. But hey isnt true horror just about being creeped? This was a bizzare movie from the get go, and it just got freaker. Being low budget is what made this movie. Small hidden ghost town in the middle of a beautiful landscape. The special effects were just right, not to much. I loved this concept, it has been done before but not with this twist to it. Im really enjoying this era of killer kid flicks. Im looking for a sequel. If you are a true horror fan, you'll love this movie maybe not for the story, but the pure creepiness.

An very nightmarish horror movie that was filled with scares and wit and just had this odd/creepy charm about it and despite some misteps and a anti climax it ended up being a pretty solid horror offering that's sure to creep you out or in some parts make you giggle. The acting was nothing special but nothing horrible either and the filming wasn't high budget stuff but that just adds to the charm and the director definitely knows how to create an spooky atmosphere that looked like right out of someones scary dream, nice job in that department. The movie also sported some nasty, creative and bloody kills that was the cherry on top. Overall I liked this movie more than I thought I would have and I hope there is a sequel on the way because it's definitely set up for one. Recommended if you are not tired of killer kids flicks yet because this is one of the better ones!

This was just a huge disappointment. I picked it up on a whim, and I'll be taking it right back for trade credit. The story itself had so many holes and moved way to slow. The ending was a complete "WTF!?!?" also. The FX weren't that bad. I was just glad to see they stayed with physical props for the most part and it wasn't total CG bullshit.

!!!SPOILERS!!!

What was the point of bringing up the younger daughters past mental problems if they didn't carry through with any sort of relevent meaning? They say it was a plague, but it all seemed like problems from inbreeding to me ... hence needing outsiders to bring new blood into the lines. All the characters were underdeveloped (no pun intended) especially Rosemary. They say on the write up "And for the mysterious young girl named Rosemary, the most depraved hunger of all is about to be fulfilled." Is it that a 13 year old is going to fuck a supposed 20-something guy, or that she gets off on torture? Either way, a real let down. Maybe I'm just too old and jaded. The ending was the worst. You didn't really know the characters, so you don't care if they may escape eventually, die, or if the cycle of capturing outsiders goes on indefinitely. This movie could have been something more, but fell short.

Oh yeah Ladytron song in this bitch!
Anyway, those village folk are scary, the movie was pretty sweet stuff. I wanted to know more about that Rosemary chick for she was an utter blind freak and somewhat sexy in that..way!
First half of the flick was oh yeah and the second half kinda..let's not say killed it but instead made it b movie and kinda lame.
The ending was like..swell!
But yeah, most definatley on of the better American horror movies to come out in many moons!

"Interesting story concept VERY POORLY EXECUTED."

Could've been very cool, too, and that's what sucks! The directing and cinematography were AMATEUR at best--wholly unimpressive. Wow, these guys blew it bigtime.

Although I love the storybook concept, this is a film that definitely suffered from it's small budget. The editing is jarring and sloppy, the acting is hit or miss (the lead is almost always a miss), and the sound design is just too much. I love a unique soundtrack, but when your throwing everything you can think of into the score, there is little room left for story. There are some cool atmosphere moments, and some nice performances, but ultimately the director didn't deliver on what the script could have been. Maybe next time?

This movie wasn't that bad. It was the atmosphere that had me. And the thought of being in that wooded area with those ugly as children coming after me. It was something about the characters that I didn't like though. They were all annoying and odd. I didn't really have a care for them and a desire for them to live. The lighting in the beginning was bad and the dark scenes seemed fake to me. But this movie made me jump and that is always a plus. I can definetly see myself watching this movie again.

4 Stars, BD? I thought those were only blindly given out to French films?

This movie sucked BIG TIME. Poor acting, terrible plot and pacing, and choppy action sequences/gore effects (which sucked). Did I mention that the audio was terrible? Constant droning (that often interferes with actors' dialog) plus sounds that came from findsounds.com... Every thing about this film was unoriginal, amateurish and extremely boring. Avoid this one like the PLAGUE.

I'd like to think my tolerance for poor/generic horror films is high, in that I'd still enjoy run-of-the-mill films like The Ruins, for example. But this film is poor all across the board. The only reason I watched it is because it's set in Ireland.

***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!***

Film : Plague Town
Original Language : English
Subtitles : Not needed
Duration : 1hr 25 mins
Year : 2008
Style : Typical film set-up, no strange camera angles or grain. Shot mostly at night, so get ready for most of the screen to be black. (sigh)
Cast : No-one famous (lol) Josslyn DeCrosta, Erica Rhodes, David Lombard, Lindsay Goranson, James Warke, Catherine McMorrow, Elizabeth Bove, Michael Donaldson
Mindset : Reality
IMDB : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1118687/
Youtube Trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anM_ivuxqGk

Plot :
Typical dysfunctional American family (with Irish roots) get stranded in a spooky, barren, deserted, irish village inhabited by scary pale-faced kids.

Characters :
Nice-guy father, wife (possibly 2nd wife?), goth-type nice daughter, blonde bratty daughter, with her condescending new English boyfriend. And, of course, the inhabitants of ...whatever village this is.

Plot Progression :
The family get stranded, and meet some inhabitants of the village, setting a sense of impending doom. The family get picked off one by one pretty sharpish, which is kind of odd. I thought they'd mostly hold up for a while....the finish of the film was interesting, but should've been fleshed out better and interwoven into the plot. So why are these kids killing people? Because they're bored? Boo! Hiss!

Originality:
There's nothing original about this film. Except maybe the skewered motivation of the village...doesn't really make sense, killing for the sake of it. I did also like the girl in the poster, the blind eyes thing is pretty cool.

Age rating :
There's blood but really, 13s. No breasts or even much gore.

Mindset :
Set in reality.

Plot devices :
Lots of ooh! Did you see that! Lots of darkness...

Budget :
In the toilet. It's so cheap. Wow. The cheapness of the film and set dressings makes me think that this was shot for under $100,000.

Special Effects :
Awful kills, SEs etc... Wow. Really low budget, which is a shame, cause I was hoping this might save the film. But wow. No. Poor, poor, poor. Also that garotting wire death; you gotta suspend disbelief there.

Overall :
Don't see this film. It's just a waste of time. There is nothing exciting or really original, anything compelling enough to keep watching (unless you love poor horror...) There's no hint of ANY breasts or anything beyond mediocre gore. PLEASE DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS FILM!

I really enjoyed this movie, between the atmosphere, music and plot it has an old school feel to it. If your a fan of gore you will not be disappointed yet the film still had a creepy atmosphere throughout. There were a few times I actually jumped! I did have the audio cranked way and with the blu-ray, it has DTS-HD Master and it rocked! Cheaper then standard how could you not if you own a blu ray player. very fun yet creepy and deranged movie!

Another over-rated piece of shit. I was hoping for something that would at least give me a slight case of the creeps. Didn't happen. The dialogue is hard to listen to.....specially the older sister. And the clothes.....really?...hiking dressed like that? As sad as it was, it was still better than Martyrs....though I get the same bad taste in my mouth for both flicks.

If you've seen 'Children Of The Corn', then you've already seen a better version of this movie.

This is not a bad movie at all. Has a 70's feel to it. A lot of that is due to the camera work in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it not ground breaking or anything but worth watching.
