I saw this movie awhile ago, I liked it because it has good Lovecraftian atmosphere, gore, some strange creatures but like others have said the cgi is pretty bad and it was cheesy at times.

As most of Stuart Gordon's movies, this was a H.P. Lovecraft adaptation with a gory sense of humor that actually turned out to be both somewhat faithful and thoroughly entertaining. It's basically 'Shadow Over Innsmouth' in Spain plus a half-baked love story hidden somewhere in there. Overall, it was moody and atmospheric and did a pretty good job catching the feeling and theme of the original story.

The weak points included some real shit acting and a downright terrible CGI Dagon/Cthulhu thing, but otherwise, the movie was fun and atmospheric. If you like 'Re-animator' and 'From Beyond,' you'll probably enjoy this, although the special effects weren't as awesome.

Great movie, occasionally gruesome, but what made it for me was the isolation and particularly, atmosphere. Pure H.P. Lovecraft, who if you know anything about him or his stories, had a "thing" about the sea and what slithers from out of it. This is without a doubt one of the best movies Stuart Gordon has ever made, and probably the best H.P. Lovecraft story (though not quite accurate) ever committed to film (though Necromnicon/Beyond had their moments).

While not as crazy or over the top as Re-Animator or From Beyond, Dagon is in my opinion Stuart Gordon Best Lovecraft adaptation to date. Taken more from "Shadow over Innsmouth" than "Dagon", this is a creepy flick with some great Mythos imagery & some cool hybrid effects. Lovecraft & Gordon fans should be pleased.

This was pretty good. Stuart Gordon doing what Stuart Gordon does best; taking H. P. Lovecraft stories and turning them into cheesy horror movies. This movie would've fit better in the 80's with Jeffrey Combs as the star, but it so so otherwise.

Cheesy... but very entertaining take on Lovecraft's classic Shadow Over Innsmouth. Gore, tits, all that good stuff you expect from a Stuart Gordon lovecraft adaption... Good mindless fun! :P

Don't know why this film is ranked so well among BD and it's members. I give almost every film the bennifit of the doubt, and this film just hit me as pure cheese, bad acting, docile ideas littered this film, ineffective effects, and unacted acting. Brilliant story by HP but, not conveyed well at all on film. At least from someone who had high hopes for such a frightening tale.

If you can see past some questionable acting and some truly laughable special effects, 'Dagon' is a very gory, scary and interesting horror film that has a lot to offer.

Best H.P. Lovecraft movie ever made so far well this and From Beyond.
