I saw the first one eight years ago and don't really remember it too well, but I can definitely say the sequel is more graphic and bloody. The ending killed it for me though. Got a little ridiculous with Rusty Nail hanging onto the truck, and the cliche "he's still alive" ending thing was totally unnecessary.
If you want to see a really crappy sequel about a dude hunting down some peeps on the road in the middle of a desert, check out The Hitcher 2. Christ that sucked.
i see this movie i don't like this . Just not good

Just like the first one, this film isn't that good, but sure is a lot of fun. Unlike the first one, this one delivers on gore. It has a much higher body count and bloodier on-screen deaths. The strip scene was amusing too.
The ending is a little ridiculous, but I was entertained enough to catch a potential third one. Worth a netflix rental...or at least an illegal download.
Not bad but nowhere near as good as the first one. Right off the bat you can see that this one didn't have the budget of the first and that's okay but then we get a crappy character like the internet freak. Then we have to spend most of the film with this moron. Other than that Joy Ride 2 is worth watching and kept me entertained. I would be interested in seeing a 3rd one.
I wasn’t expecting much and this film did not disappoint, it was horrible. Let’s throw in an EMO-boy from MYSPACE and that will surely make this film better, NO, fail!
Although this doesnt come close to the orig its still a good movie for direct to video ive seen worse ones.

Although I wasn't really blown away by it, I quite liked the original "Joy ride". I always wondered why it took them so long to come up with a sequel. I mean, that Rusty Nail-character just begged for another movie!
"Joy ride 2" was a fun ride all the way through. Basically, it's more of the same. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It was exactly what I hoped it would be. We got to see Rusty back in action & was he on a roll here or what (all about that opening scene)?! They definitely upped the gore here & I was loving every bit of it!
Add to that a bunch of likeable characters and a good deal of action & suspense and you get a very worthy DTV-sequel.
Bring on "Joy Ride 3" already!
Disapointing and pretty predictable, obviously with being direct to dvd a gore filled shock fest would be expected and it gives you that, i enjoyed the original for it's more suspense eerie thriller feeling that it had, with keeping the truck driver more in a mystery than showing him doing much, this film is built around the truck driver basically killing some people out of "revenge" that is just a silly plot idea.

Hello. this movie here.... I didnt like it, some parts i did. Sh*t. I would give it a failing mark of 4 because of those stupid parts where that truck driver was recording her. God talk about bad acting. And making that Emo dude starts crying because he has to dress up like a woman and walk through a crowd of men.
But indeed it was some action in it. I loved where the truck droved off the cliff. Very good for a B-movie. The ending... i didnt mind it. Tobad it showed him kill her and then i would like this movie better. It was sort of more graphic than the first. I forgot. But That acting was terrible kind of. That b*tch should of not put that letter there!! >:(
I would give this movie a bad mark but Something is telling me that inside this movie, There good in it. So 6/10 It is!!

5 was KneeCap not 7.
And the movie started off very dull. It was like every road trip movie. It got a better towards the middle then got a little boring, the movie was up and down through out. I was a little surprised at one of the deaths, someone who seemed like they would be a main character. I think towards the end the movie got better. The game of Craps idea was pretty good, one of the deaths didn't seem all that realistic either. And as I began to like the movie, the ending totally pissed me off. It was an ok movie but the ending was horrible.

Utterly horrible, I tried giving it a chance there were some good death sceens. But horrible acting, plot, story, characters at one time there is a guy who trys to impress the group by saying he has 1500myspace friends and counting and winds up dressing up in drag and walking thru a trucker gang to try and find meth???? wow. it was just a plainly stupid movie. But 2-3 good scenes.

Every bit as good as the original. My main problem was a lack of real scares (besides the "game" scene) and lots, and lots, and lots of bad acting. Aside from that, it did have a few suspenseful scenes, which is more than most modern, STV movies have to offer.
Well, it has been almost exactly seven years since the original Joy Ride was released. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit so of course I had to check out the next installment although I'm always wary of DTV "sequels". I can't say I was disappointed because my expectations weren't exactly high to begin with rather I was almost pleasantly surprised.
First of all, not having Ted Levine for the voice of Rusty Nail was incredibly irritating. Every time RN spoke it just made me think of all the bad impersonations my friends and I would and still do whenever a certain Christmas treat is mentioned. It was a decent attempt but just not the same.
The plot is essentially the same as in the first Joy Ride just with gender reversal (think Hostel Part II.) Unsuspecting people wrong Rusty Nail who in turn seeks revenge by having them perform not very pleasant tasks. It's disappointing because for me it seemed like there were perfect opportunities to get into the mind of Rusty Nail and learn why he does the things that he does but the film makers never capitalize on it. Instead, it's just the same old thing.
The acting isn't bad at all but the characters themselves aren't all that likable. I never really cared whether they all died or not.
The saving grace of this film is the gore effects. A decapitation in the first five minutes is always a good thing.
I've just got to say the ending scene is laughably ridiculous considering what had just preceded it.
Overall, I'd say it's at least worth checking out.
