SYNOPSIS
A vengeful reptile woman seeks bloody revenge! In feudal Japan, killing a snake is bad luck, and ancient legends foretell a terrible curse that will befall anyone who brings harm to even a single serpent. Chobei, the wealthy landlord of a rural village, learns just how true such superstitions can be after he causes the death of a poor farmer living on his land and enslaves the man's wife and beautiful daughter. For after he kills a snake that the farmer's wife had tried to protect, Chobei is not only driven mad by their spirits, but ruin is brought to his entire family - like his cruel son Takeo, who discovers that his pretty new bride exhibits certain peculiar characteristics... like reptilian scales and green skin! Has he joined his father in madness, or is it the Snake Woman's Curse? From Nobuo Nakagawa, the acclaimed director of Jigoku and the father of the Japanese horror film, comes a chilling tale of revenge from beyond the grave, brought to the screen in elegant style and gorgeous color. Fully uncut and newly remastered from original vault elements, this classic tale from the Golden Age of Toei Studios is an innovative updating of an ancient tale of jealousy, ghosts and murder, with enough sex and violence to satisfy 1960s genre audiences. Never before released on video in the U.S., this sumptuous tale of a calamity of snakes is sure to satisfy fans of classic Japanese cinema and horror tales alike. TRAILERS AND CLIPS
