I dont know how this movie even got people to put up money for it to be made.not even one person gets it with the chainsaw, and leatherface in a dess was rediculous,I regret weasting 90 minutes watching this, if the opportunity presents itself go out of your way NOT to watch it
If you enjoy watching Trainwrecks,Car accidents, and Porn acting without the sex this film is for you.I'd compare this to Halloween Resurection as sequels go.The best part is McConaughy would of been a good family member in one of the other sequels. He was funny!Bad movie but hard to not watch it when it's on for the weirdness of it's plot.
Strange and not very clear but I think that was the point. What did they do to leatherface? This movie just lost me and keep on losing me. Because it was a TCM movie it wasn't all bad but that might be the only thing it has going for it. Again I hate what they did to Leatherface.
LuJr81, you should go back and re-watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and possible the few deleted scenes. If you do, you will notice that Leatherface puts on a womans face and makeup for the dinner table scene. In the deleted scenes, he is seen putting on lipstick. Perhaps this doesnt equate to being a crossdresser. Perhaps it does. Either way, this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. No, it is by no means great, but Mathew McConehey's performance alone makes the film worth sitting thru.
At first I was ok with this movie, but when I saaw Leatherface dressed up like a fuckin woman it KILLED the movie for me. When the hell is it ever implied in the earlier movies that Leatherface is fuckin crossdresser,NEVER!.I mean yeah he wore an old lady's face in the original but thats different. And the story got weird at the end and they lost me, by the time the credits were rolling I almost cried. Nice try KIM HENKEL, But ummmm NO!!!
OK, I'ved watched this piece of crap a few times now and still have a hard time trying to figure out what the bloody hell is going on!! Who are the "Mystery Men" in the Limo? How are they involved with the Leatherface Family??? How in the hell did that ditsy girl go from being hung on a meat hook to crawling across a dirt road? How did Matthew "I don't own a Shirt" MCCoNAUGHTY and Renee Z..have the Careers that they have after being in this!!There really are Miracles!! What happened to that "Weird" Old couple driving the Land Boat in the Footage that littery looks like it was taken from someones "Home Movie" and inserted into the end!All I have to say is someone really screwed up in the editing room or this Movie has to be one hell of a big colasal Fuck to the Audience!!Can they make them any worse? Oh wait, we did get that remake of "My Bloody Valentine" so I guess the answer is a big YES!!
I guess leatherface felt like being a wannabe tranny Granny in this one..anyway, what can I say here..hmm, this movie stands out very much in the series and is very 80s B movie. It's pretty funny, and I agree that perhaps the movie's intention was to be a black comedy, but things are just so mix-matched in this one it's hard to appreciate anything. This may be the closest thing to the original, but in a copy cat form, everything from the dinner scene to the escape, but try try again, or better yet don't, because TCM is done, and this just proves it.
A truly bizarre film! I never understand a film makers idea that they should try and take a film in a new direction. The age old saying "if it aint broke dont fix it" springs to mind and failing this i suggest you leave it alone altogether. Despite the fact they were clearly trying to do something different its hard to say exactly what that was. I hear splutterings that this was an attempted black comedy but at times it just feels like an innherently poorly made film.
One of the most confusingly missed aspects in this film is the lack of gore which is surely a must in any TCM film and the charachterisation of Leatherface is purely insane as he is set out as a cross dressing idiot who lacks any strength or aggression.
Despite this i am majorly impressed that Renee Zellwegger and Matthew McConaughy went on to carve a succesful career in holywood.

Was this straight-to-video? Garbage! Matthew McComaughey went from this pile of crap to winning an oscar 3 years later in A Time To Kill. Verry impressive.

am i the only one that thinks the 4th is great?!?!
i guess so!
i love this one stands out of the first 3!
its so great in the series!!
perfect entry!
I gotta say, it took balls for Kim Henkel to try such a departure as this. But god what a fuckin horrible movie. So horrible, that New Line wasn't even gonna release it until a couple of its talentless stars accidently got famous.
Please dont watch this garbage if you haven't already.
Actually this is the worst one of the series. Shouldnt have ever been made. Complete shit.

erase the tran leatherface and change the title of the film, and a little plot changes it would have been much better, because i did enjoy the psychotic performance of matthew m.
overall a disapointing sequel to one of the most terrifying screen villians.

Not one of the best films out of the TCM collection.
The older TCM films really don't interest me much. I think the original is a bit over hyped, but I guess that you probably have had to seen it in the theaters back then to really appreciate it for what it was. If I look at it in that sense then it is scary. But I'm not gonna lie, the scene with the hitchhiker is very creepy. Texas Chainsaw 2 was pretty good and was a nice sequel to the original, although it is what made the series lean towards "comedy" it still had an EXCELENT story and I think its the best in the old series.
I saw TCM3 but didn't pay too much attention to it and for some odd reason that is when the series started going all off the mark. I mean Leatherface had a completely different family and they just switched gears on us. Anyway, the final addition in the original series is Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Next Generation (originally titled Return to the TCM). The film was actually a reboot of the series, trying to re-invent things for a newer generation, so yes, it was kinda like a remake.
The film opens kinda good though the characters are kinda silly. But things start to get really silly when Matthew Mcconahay (or however you spell that hillbilly's name) comes into the film. Leatherface is some odd gender confused psycho who dresses in women clothings. This film is all around weird and I think that the writer was high and drunk when he wrote this. When ever a slasher film ends with a fuckin girl in a gown running from a gender confused psycho down a country road with motor homes and airplanes passing them by and its NOT Rob Zombie, that lets you know that the writer was stoned out of his mind.
View at your own risk. I think they just wanted to outdo the first two films in "shock factor", they did alright, but not in a good way. This is what killed the original series and led to the excelent NEW TCM series by platnum dunes. Also, Keep a look out for a cameo at the very end of the film by the original final girl in the original TCM.
chainsaw 3 has been out for years, but i saw this for the first time last nite. it had it's good moments, and i like Ermy so it kept my attention going. after reading other user reviews (positive ones!) i was expecting a nail-biting bloodbath, but if you're a hardcore gore junkie like me, this comes up a bit short. i wish they went into more detail of leatherface's childhood, maybe some of it was left on the cutting room floor?
A absolute Pure garbage they should be ashamed of themselves, for making this how there they this is just ridiculous how stupid are this is just a waste of money for the DVD and I feel ashamed of myself for watching this. This is Exorcist 2 territory, Leatherface the main star of this franchise is in it for 2 scenes he's dressed as a woman and being slapped around. A lot of these scenes are revamping the original and making fun of it and why those it say Hannibal Lecter in this film complete trash I'd give it zero but it doesn't even deserve that.

WTF...thats all I can say. But, I can't say they didn't warn us. The title does say its the next generation which pretty much means that everything will be differant. Rennee and Matt were pretty good. I can see why their careers soared. Matt is just effed up and Renee is...well...shes Renee. And Leatherface, BOOBS Hello...good choice. Psh
the beginnig of this movie starts good but then it takes a weird turn, but still its not 2 bad.
my rating 10 because I Love leatherface and he is funny.
this movie is the worst in the series but not that bad. Renee was a good actress. what ruined the movie was how weird it was and leatherface being a girl. wtf was that about?
I really didn't get this film... It kept trying to appear as a remake to me... Alot of the scenes were revamped versions of the original masterpiece... Hated this one.... def advoid
