Great kills in this movie by a huge red blob. Really well done and loved the effects. No let down on how vicious the blob could be. Great.

Man, great remake. Like is says on the back of the TriStar release, it is in nature of The Thing remake and The Fly remake. Very good gore effects, super fun, and also good humor. Recommended for anybody.
Good Parts- some excellent gross gory effects, good remake, paced pretty well, actors are good for the most part, plot was pretty well done
Bad Parts- some acting is a little crappy, despite the great gore some of the non gore effects are pretty lame (i.e. flying comet, the blob roaming the streets at the end)
Overall a good watch if you are looking for entertainment and good gory fun!
8/10
from mr. disgustings list of best remakes i was expecting something dark and disturbing. i was let down a little bit but i did enjoy the movie. i loves shawnee smith as a main character and thought that it was a pretty good ending althought the scene selection gave away how they would kill it

I love the blob. Its one of the cooler monster movies that came out of the 80's. Something cool about a lifeform from outer space eating people. Only complaint is that the blob didn't look that good when it got bigger. But with todays tecnology the sky is the limit. Know bring back the blob for the 21st century.
A very good remake to the classic. The effects are amazing.

What can I say about the film that inspired my interest in horror? It's simply a great movie with a solid mix of fun and gore.
Picture small-town America suddenly rocked by this ever-growing gelatinous blob that devours men, women and children alike. Insert motorcyle riding rebel and his teenage crush and you've got the makings of a classic.
Who can forget the sink, the phonebooth, the cinema, the sewers, or making out in the backseat? Amazing scenes that are awesome twenty years on.
If you haven't seen this film, rent it ASAP and prepare to be rocked!

ive always loved the original 1958 blob and it was fun seeing this remake with a new modern take on it, very cool effects and a funny and interesting film.

I was thoroughly entertained by this. There were some moments that were just god-awful, but for the most part it was very good -- one of my favorite 80's films.
"One night, just outside of a quiet and small town, a bizarre meteor crashes. A man who goes to investigate finds a weird glop that jumps on his arm and puts him into a state of frenzy. Some young people take him to the hospital and we soon see that the weird substance has eaten most of him and it is still hungry...
The result is a very entertaining monster flick with a very unusual monster - an amorphous blob. After films like Alien, Predator, The Thing, and others thinking of a good monster idea can be tough. Even John Carpenter's well crafted The Thing is a remake, but that didn't stop the film from becoming one of his best due to a good visceral interpretation of the story. Something (somewhat) simular can be said for this film - a remake of an old movie with a very visceral and gory style. Featuring top-notch aesthetic and even some obviously aged, but nonetheless fun, old computer effects it is more of a thorough re-imagination like The Thing was.
However, the film falls a bit on its face when it comes to creating suspense. Many scenes with the title monster are tense and the action good and the gore first-rate, but the connective scenes between them surprisingly lack in tension. With material ripe for an eerie atmosphere it is a shame to see this horror element not fully developed in the film. The result is a fun movie, but it could have been much better. Also the mad scientist/cold war element is a bit stale by today's standards.
But, overall it is a fun little flick featuring a truly merciless monster that gobbles up just about anyone (even kids!). Horror/sci-fi fans will definitely want to check this flick out." --BroadswordCallinDannyBoy, imdb.com
