One of my favorite movies. So many good lines.

Often hailed as a Goonies rip off, The Monster Squad is anything but. Let's face it, there have always been movies with a group of rag tag kids going on adventures. Nothing new. Plus you have a fun horror twist on this one. I'd say it's more like Goonies meets Evil Dead 2.

Not to mention this film has the best line you'll ever heard Dracula say, and it's to seven year old girl no less, "Give me the amulet, you bitch!" Heh heh. Harsh.

This is a classic piece of cinema right here.

From the opening scene to the kickass ending, this movie is one of the few great horror/comedies of the eighties. There are immortal lines here, but I'll not mention them, because if you've never seen this, you owe it to yourself as a horror fan. It's quite a treat.

This film answers quite a few questions, like 'Could Frankenstein's monster kick Dracula's ass?', 'Are mummies really that scary?', 'Can you halt a werewolf with high grade explosives/kicks to the balls?'

Now sit back and enjoy a rollercoaster ride of fun and fantastic monster FX courtesy of the late great Stan Winston; as well as great direction from Fred Dekker.

If only they put "Night Of The Creeps" out on DVD as well....

This sits on my shelf next to all the other great 80's family horrors such as Ghostbusters and Gremlins. Whats not to love about this boys' own adventure that pits a group of young horror movie fans against Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein , Mummy and The Creature From Black Lagoon. This has more than enough horrific moments to question if its for kids, more like a teenage audience actually. The script is great with some excellent comedy thrown into an already super mix of thrills, chills, and action. If you haven't seen this you haven't lived. A must see for all horror fans.

Just watched this for the first time. Where the fuck have I been the last 21 years? The Monster Squad is a fun film. The story line was good, the acting was good, the monsters looked cool, cannot say enough good things about this. I was a tad miffed when they really didn't show much of the wolfmans transformation, but later on in the film I got to see it, so that made me happy. I loved seeing the old BK burger cartons...brought back memories. This is just a fun time, plain and simple. 9.25/10

One of the greatest films ever made. A treat for Universal monster lovers, and anyone who gets nostalgic about the 80's. This is the Goonies with vampire stakes and silver bullets. Writer Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and Director Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps) create the perfect blend of comedy and horror to please any moviegoer. Highly, highly recommended.
