Your run-of-the-mill slasher flick. Grant it, I didn't see it in 3-D so maybe my enjoyment of it suffered but I was mostly bored through-out. Too many plot holes and flaws...and a fucking terrible final 15 minutes.
this movie wasen't scary, but it wasen't bad either. i had alot great kills, but too bad it was CGI. I liked the plot, acting, and effects, so this was a decent movie.
This is one of the greatest Horror Remake in 3D Every made. I have to say the tiltle "MY BLOODY VALENTINE" really give sooo mch bloodand goe too the film with 3D eye-poppim effect tha really made me jump and get scared and grip u with tenses and supsen this remake has it all of the oringal 1981 Cult Classic with ho Icon Harry Warden with his pix axe. Lv IT!!
i went to see this in theaters and i hated this movie i dont know if it was the 3-d but i thought it was really boring i found myself paying more attention to the girl i was with lol

this movie was fun as hell, tom atkins is one of my heroes too bad he didnt do much, love the original and i love the remake.
Has anyone here ever seen Fight Club or Primal Fear?!
My Bloody Valentine is a waste of time altogether because it just stole the main twist of those two GREAT movies probably because the writers ran out of ideas after the hundred plot hole that foolishly they came up with.
And was I the only one who hated the final fight scene at the end?! And why the hell was the guy breaking all the lights?

My opion on the film is that of what jpugly13 posted. Chezzy but fun film to watch. I think the 3D helped the movie by far compared to all the other 3D movies that have been released lately.

This was a fun cheezy movie, with alot of killing right from the start. This movie used the 3-D to really push an ok movie right over the top. The parts flying at you was great. I have never seen the old one, though it is sitting in my closet, I do think that this is a really entertaining movie. I recommend this movie to most anyone. Alot of blood, and still a who dun it, with lots of cheez and i love that.
Being a fan of the original(which is one of the most underrated slasher flicks of all time)I wasn't expecting much from the remake. I must say I was pleasentley surprised, the #D aspect is kick ass in the movie theaters. It loses its steam on dvd but its still pretty cool to watch on a flat screen. yeah the acting wasn't all that good but come on we weren't expecting a oscar nomination. It is what it is A SLASHER FLICK, it doesn't try t be anything else which is great. highly recommended to gore hounds.
As a 'Supernatural' -TV series follower, I couldn't miss a movie with Jensen Ackles, wich I must admit, is suprising me in a good way as an actor.
The movie was 'in-line' with many productions made before, and that will be made after it, but still catchs you and makes you want to talk to people 'on the screen' an tell'em to RUN FOR YOUR LIFES, dumbs!
I loved every bit of this and dug and ran with it and had a freaking blast.
Friday the 13th...did it wrong.
My Bloody Valentine...did it right!
Insane gore, insane kills (my fav was the jaw coming right at you...CRAZY). Throwaway plot and an ending you saw...probably about ten minutes in but it DOESN'T MATTER.
Better than the original (though the 3d was much better in theaters than on blu-ray). Exactly how a slasher should be and with plenty of good kills. One of the best slashers, and remakes, in a long time.
An hugely entertaining remake in the glorious 3D technology. The acting was decent and the kills were bloody as hell, so the title suits it well. I don't think this was as creepy or chilling as the original but it still manages to improve upon it, the 3D was part of the improvement. There are a few parts that will make you jump but this aims more at entertaining you and is all about the kills than at truely scaring you. Towards the end it kept me guessing who the killer was and kept me on the edge of my seat, I hope they make a sequel and make it in 3D because I enjoyed the hell out of this remake! Bring on more 3D horror movies or action movies I might add! Highly recommended!
when I bought the movie I thought it was going to be a good 3D movie. but when I started to watch it the 3D sucked it was not what they were talking about, it did not scare me i was just sitting their like okay this sucks, watching it without the 3D was good the movie was good it had a good storyline it impressed me it was better than the original. Normally the remakes can't top the originals but this one did
A decent remake at best. Still fun and entertaining as long as you are not looking for good acting (it's a horror movie.. who does?). The original was better because of the time it came out. But all in all... a rental or wait for cable.
I thought this was great (having not seen the first one), did watch it in the beginning because of sexy Jensen but actually got roped into the story and figuring out if Harry was really back from the dead!
Addicted to my 3D glasses, want to wear them all the time. Life in 3D would be a hellofabetter
I'm not a huge fan of the original, but that was a fairly well done slasher. I was looking forward to this remake because the original was interesting enough. What I enjoyed was the fact that the story changed and so I actually didn;t know what was going to happen based on the prior knowledge I had from the original. They should have left the settings alone and stayed closer to what the original was doing. I wish they had kept in the shower/suit dropping scene (which they did the suit dropping for a total of 5 pointless seconds).
The original is far superior in pacing. This remake felt rushed, while the original felt more like a stalking.
I'm not a fan of their casting. Kerr Smith has nothing about him that could even potentially begin to look like a cop. Jensen Ackles looks like he should be on magazine covers: he doesn't bring a look to the table. He should be doing TV shows about pretentious high schoolers, not acting in horror movies. Jaime King, who I have enjoyed in the past, has reminded me that she can't act and/or that the writers for MBV have poor dialogue writing skills. Ten years pass in this movie and they all look the same. I'm astonished.
None of the actors should have been chosen for this movie, and the writers should have stayed closer to the original in terms of setting.
I would put MBV in the "rent, if you have rented everything else" category.
One of the best remakes ever.It takes what George Mihalka did and goes even further. It has everything blood gore sex thrills everything you need to meke a great slasher film.
10 years ago miner gone bad Harry Warden went on a pick-axe slaughter fest. Survivor Tom(Jensen Ackles) arrives back to his home town of Harmony a decade later to find mysterious murderers are starting back up.Tom bumps into his old flame Sarah(Jaime King) who is now married to paranoid and jealous Sheriff Axel(Kerr Smith) who immediately suspects the returning Tom.But Sarah believes her old flame is innocent.
Now,murder after gory murder(which i love) a new masked miner leaves his marks(Valentines) and signatures(bloody messages) all through the movie. We get to see little people scenes,a full frontal nude scene (which is a great throw back to the late 70's-80's slasher films) and a few characters from some of the old school horror movies as well.So has Harry Warden returned from his shallow grave or do we have a copy-cat on our hands?I'm not telling you everything, you have to watch it and find out!
The best horror remake in years! So good, could it have a sequel?I'm not telling you! The 3-D in this awesome remake is done very well but i'm a fan of the 2-D so it's just up to you which version you want to watch. The DVD comes with 4 3-D glasses! This is a fun, gory and creative must see!I own the original and the remake!
this moive sucked badd acting i tryed to like this film i rented the dvd the 3-d was bad the only cool part was the topless girl that was funny as hell i think it was too teen e poperish
believe it or not...not too bad!! there were a lot of bad reviews floating around a while back, but seeing it in theaters with the awesome real-D effects (so much better than the two-color crap we get for home), i left feeling completely satisfied.
they somewhat stick to the storyline of the original, but they change enough to keep it interesting...all good changes in my opinion. there's no more of the "don't have a valentine's party, or else..." crap, which is part of the classic storyline, but it was okay to get rid of it.
i'm not a huge fan of the dude from smallville but he did okay. jamie king is gorgeous and betsy rue, the chick that runs around naked for like 5 minutes is SOOOO hot. you go girl!!
as a slasher, it's a definite gore-fest. many pick-axe impalements, and man, one to the jaw that will blow your MIND!!!
if you've never seen the original, you may find it mediocre, with a predictable ending. if you love the original and grew up with it like me, the nods to it are just enough, and well, i have to admit, they really got me with the ending.
good flick!! not one you can watch a million times, but definitely a great addition to the collection.
Very fun slasher flick, not to be taken TOO seriously, but its not cheesy either. The fact that its 3d, and that the 3d is done well, makes it that much more entertaining. Definitley worth a watch, if not a buy (It comes with 4 pairs of the 3d glasses, this is a great movie to have laying around for when you have a couple friends come over and drink some beers)
Gore galore. I loved it just because it's a good ol' fashioned slasher flick, with minimal mind boggling. Yeah, you can see the twist at the end coming within the first 15 minutes already, but who gives a shit?! We got oral decapatation (waha! New phrase), jaw shattering, eye poking, skull puncturing, midget ceilingfans, lotsa boobs, and one seriously hot killer. Who wants to think when there's just so much to look at?
This movie was cheesy because of the exploitation of the 3D feature. The additional 3D looked very cheap & low budget; ironic since the special glasses cost an extra 10-15 bucks on top of the ticket price. This movie had nothing special or different from your average slasher film. The revelation of the killer just made matters worse. I hate RED HERRING films. Sadly the highlight was the full nude 'FURBURGER' shot of the blonde chick. Actually this movie was a lil' different because I don't recall seeing a girl naked for so long in a scary movie, outside of the sex scenes. This chick was really running around for 10mins straight stark NAKED! I 'ass'ume her paycheck was on point! Bottomline this movie was a complete DUD.
Pretty much liked it.
Nice Slasher-Flick reminded me of good old movies (of course :D) it was brutal the deads were like I wanted them to be and there is a little twist.
It was well telled an not to linear or dumb.
Do not know if I like it more than the original but I am at least admitting that it is as good.
Here's "Completely Pointless Remake of a Classic Genre Flick" #326. The original MBV (1981) is one of my favorite slasher flicks of the 80s. It has strong performances, good f/x, its fast-paced & suspenseful, & has a great pay off. This one has none of the above. Even the presence of Tom Atkins couldn't make this fun. It kinda stays true to the plot of the original but then becomes a Scooby-Doo whodunit mystery. 11 years ago there was a cave-in at the local mine. Several men were killed. One miner, Harry Warden, is recovered from the cave in & is in a coma. A year later he wakes up & goes on a murderous rampage. Sheriff Tom Atkins shoots him in the cave & everything seems hunky-dory. At 1st. 10 years later: Tom Hanniger comes back to the small town to sell the mine & the murders start up again. The ONLY thing this has going for it are gory murders & THE LONGEST full frontal nudity scene in modern movie history (seriously, there’s a movie’s worth of a$$ in one scene). Other than that this is a pointless flick. What made the 1st MBV so suspenseful & tense is that it takes place in the claustrophobic setting of the mines. This bomb takes the action to the surface & has ZERO tension & suspense. Zero. Characters are inane & act stupidly & you’ll spot the killer 15 minutes in. The director (who gave us the crappy Dracula 2000 trilogy, White Noise 2, & Prophecy 3) at least tried to recapture a few of the scenes of the original that made it so good. The bloody heart in the candy box (played too soon to generate any true horror); the dead body in the drier (seemed like an afterthought); & the scene in the mine with all the miner's outfits hanging from hooks (completely wasted) were all here, just not used wisely. Add to it the aforementioned Scooby-Doo-like mystery & you have yourself a really terrible flick. Maybe it was better in 3D, but the filmmakers must think to give their film a life after its theatrical run. Definitely skip this one & go straight to the original.
I watched this yesterday. I have never seen the original and don't really want to unless I can track down a copy with the deleted gore intact.
I thought this was an entertaining slasher and the 3-D was phenomenal. I would typically go into a movie like this and know that I have to take the story and acting with a grain of salt but I thought the whole "Valentine's Day" angle wasn't necessary other than to justify the title of the movie. It just felt forced in there and I thought it would have been better to just make a killer miner movie than to try to shoehorn the Valentine's Day aspect. I did like the person they chose to be the killer. These "guess who's the killer" movies always go with the most outlandish choice so when they went with a fairly obvious suspect here, I didn't see it coming.
Overall, I would recommend it. I actually watched a friend's copy and I liked it enough that I'm planning on buying it myself. (An added bonus on top of the movie is that wearing the 3D glasses when not watching it is trippy as hell, especially after a few beers.)
So I found out last year they were attempting to remake one of my favorite "guilty pleasure" slashers. I was shocked, because when you really think about it My Bloody Valentine is a little obscure. Sure, it isn't as obscure as some, but it isn't exactly a commonly referenced film.
I have come to look forward to certain remakes. The remake offers me personally one of three things. It's either going to give me another valid reason to loathe Hollywood film producers. It is going to be better than the original, which hasn't exactly happened yet. Thirdly, it is going to be a satisfying re-visioning which will open attention for the youth to its predecessor. I can stomach the ideas of a remake now, because I think about how many times Shakespeare was re-created both poorly and well.
So let's consider a 3D version. I must say there is something refreshing when a mindless film decides to make the experience fun instead of convince you they've (the creators) concocted a masterpiece. It aides the audience in knowing what to expect.
My problems with MBV-3D are the ridiculously unjustifiable nude scene. There is no logic to this at all. The woman runs out to a parking lot "completely naked" with a gun to retrieve a video tape of her having sex. She got the gun out of a robe, she could have put one, but that is besides the point. She is so worried about being seen naked on a videotape, but not at all about being seen this way in public. Really ridiculous moment here, but this was the first time I saw a naked woman in 3D. Ah, 3D is more like a pop-up book, not real life. So pop-up book of porn, just not my thing.
Jensen Ackles is the only actor in this movie, who acts. I found it very endearing that he played this part with serious skill. No, he's no future Oscar winner but he could potentially become a horror staple. The story is much similar to the original, but different in some major plot areas. Honestly, I found the differences refreshing. Has this been a complete regurgitation I might've regurgitated in my popcorn. The acting outside of Ackles is beyond annoying, it is deeply atrocious. I actually prefer the original cast's acting to what I saw in this film. Seriously, it was beyond bad. The usually solid Kerr Smith was hit and miss. Though in moments Smith shows depth.
Overall this film gets props because it was made to be a cheaply made box office draw. If succeeded well at this. Also it doesn't take itself seriously, and thank God for that. The humor has it's ups and downs. The funniest line delivered however is I think unintentionally so. "You mean my wife, the mother of my children, who I love and have sex with?" My that is some dumb writing.
I will say the biggest redeaming quality in the film is based on two scenes. One accomplishes original writing. The other accomplishes precise and remarkable direction. In one scene which I cannot disclose in detail without giving out a spoiler the killer is revealed by a carefully plotted metaphorical imagery and precise (and I mean damn precise) actor direction. This scene lasts only a few seconds, but to a film student and geek like myself I caught it immediately. The average film fan won't catch it. Though it is possible the average film fan will figure out who the killer is well before the climax. The bad thing is, I caught it. The good thing is it made the movie that much more enjoyable because it was perfect vague direction. That is always refreshing.
Finally one thing I have never seen done in film. In the end a character is left to chose between in order to figure out the killer. This character faced with the decision has a gun and will shoot the one she believes is a killer. Both of the suspects have valid points supporting the theory of the other one's guilt. Both look guilty. Yet a line which is actually a reference to a King Solomon story in the bible is delivered. "Screw it. Shoot us both. There is no way to know, unless you kill both of us." Outstanding idea, and delivered well by the actor. It's the old "cut the baby in half....no that's fine she's the mother" story. It really works remarkable in the film's climax.
Over all this film was fun and doesn't spit all over the original. If anything it respects the first effort but staying true to the idea. That idea, let the audience have fun and leave their brains at the door. It is fun, it is a good ride. At the same time their is some stupidity which is hard to over look making it really pretty average.
2 1/2 skulls.
Really bad ass, even though the first fifteen minutes are pretty much the best part.
Definitely a must see in 3D. Even though you know it's just a movie, so many people in the theater still screamed. I couldn't help but feel the urge to duck out of the way myself.
Just plain, straight up, old school slasher fun. A bit slow here and there and the twist is kinda lame but the movie isn't out to do any reinvention or anything, so it's all good.
This is barely entertaining in my view. Its not a serious film and its obvious the origin film took itself serious this sort of tries but ends up being a lame product.
If you a horror fan and your curious give it watch just go in it thinking its going to suck balls and maybe some of the kills will leave you pleasantly suprised over all.... forgetable.
this movie sucked my balls. Wow what shit. I think they spent all their efforts on the 3d aspect and not the story. I was soo bored. I did like how a few old school actors were in it though.
Pure fun. That's all the movie was. It was 80s style slasher meets a whodunit (even though the whodunit was kinda contrived) with tons of sex, gore, and fun. The acting wasn't all that bad with Kerr Smith and Jensen Ackles being the two stand outs (and the two roles that could've totally screwed the movie had they been played bad). The 3-D just added to the experience. If you want a fun trip with great kills and one of the funniest nude/sex scenes ever then be sure to see it.
Watched the original a couple of weeks ago, and was not impressed with it. Sorry, it felt too much like been there and done that, but I realize that I have watched it years after it has been released and that tends to make things look and feel different than if I had watched some twenty-five or thirty years ago. Still it didn't seem different than any other horror/slasher film to be released. So when the new movie came out I was not expecting much and got just that. Can't help it, I was not impressed with this film either. It was a step up as far as the killing went, but since I knew who the killer was going to be I wasn't to shocked with the twisted ending to try to fool the viewer. I was amused that the filmmakers gave a nod to the original with a household appliance killing that was in the first, and the scene where all the miner outfits were falling around the main female lead when she was in the locker room. All in all I didn't think that this film was terrible, it killed about 90 min. in good time and I didn't feel that I wished it would hurry up and get over with, but to be honest I just didn't think it was that great, but then again I am an old guy.
I watched the original a few days before I saw this to get ready for the remake! I had the pleasure of seeing this with my ex-girlfriend. (We're still friends.) We both thought this remake was pretty good. I loved all the gory deaths and thought all the deaths with the pickaxe were very creative! The remake is pretty different than the original. Ten years after a Valentine's Day Massacre, Tom Hanniger returns to Harmony to sell the coal mine. Soon after, the murders start again. Another part I loved was when the smokin' hot naked girl was running around and trying to get away from the coal miner. I didn't get to see it in 3D, but that was okay. If you love horror, gore, sex, and chocolate, I highly recommend that you be MY BLOODY VALENTINE!!!
This film works as a comedy if you remove all the brooding and emotional music. Take out the drama and you've got yourself one halfway decent black comedy. Otherwise, it's complete garbage. I don't think the filmmakers were quite clear with each other on the type of film they were making. Not scary, bad cast, had it not been in 3D i suspect a straight-to-DVD scenario.
This movie was gory, and the 3D was kewl but the movie just sucked otherwise. Without the 3D and the awesome gore there wouldn't be anything in this movie except for predictable kills and basic cliches with a twist ending and a 5 minute nudity scene. This movie is still worth checking out in 3D but otherwise it's just nothing special. 5/10!
magnificent truly brilliant studio horror film that actually contains a very engaging story and dares to be a little different and not just focus on young teens biting the dust very good and a target for other horror studio remakes and the 3d worked brilliantly aswell just added that extra bit to the movie
It wasn't THAT bad of a horror movie, but i'm not sure if it was only because it was in 3D or what, although a couple scenes really PISSED me off. I am a fan of Jensen Ackles, which was pretty much the main reason to see it, other than being 3D. If it wasn't 3D, I probably would not have seen it at all.. but I payed hellas to duck and dodge 3D debris... and got to keep the glasses.
WOW!! I thought i could go buy the reviews from this site, I was wrong, everybody loves saw and everybody loves this movie, this was the most predictable laughable boring waste of 15 dollars I have ever spent in my entire life. The only good part, 5 full minutes of full 3D female nudity, THATS IT!! HOW DO I GIVE THIS HALF A SKULL MY BAR ONLY LETS ME GIVE 1 FULL ONE, ACTUALLY HOW DO YOU GIVE NO SKULLS. AWFULLLL!@#%@#$%
To be blunt... I did not like this movie. The only thing I enjoyed about it was it being 3d. I have never seen a 3d movie before and found that intresting BUT I did not like the movie. =[
While I haven't seem the original, this was an awesome horror movie. I loved the fact it didn't build up to one or two amazing 3D sections and have the rest just normal. The 3D feel through-out the movie made it feel more realistic, and the flat out 3D parts were amazing too, one leading me to swear quite loudly in the cinema.
It's a good movie, that kept me guessing till pretty much the end, so be glad it didn't have an obvious ending.
My advice is to keep watching past the credits, because I was 1 of only 4 people who actually stayed till the end and saw the last part.
ok haters this movie was soooo much fun,and not just because the 3d was great(which it was),but because they new exactly what kind of movie this was gunna be a fast fun exciting ride.soooo much gore chaos everywhere a bit of the 80's feel thrown in there, dont get me wrong the end was easily spelled out for you but who cares fun fun fun is the name of the game sometimes we need just that!
I have to say I loved this film. It was fun, gory, and full of suspense, everything you could want in a film, I loved the fact that I was guessing right up until the end who dunnit. The 3d effects made the film much more exciting, and I was shocked at how gory the film actually was I wasnt expecting it. The deaths were so elaborate i thought it was brilliant. I must also mention, I liked how the killer was portrayed, fast and frightening. Al in all a great horror movie.

This movie rocked! i went and saw it like 5 times, this was the first movie ive seen in 3-D i dont care when it comes to baby movies in 3-D, but this one was pretty intense! Hopefully more horror movies will be made in 3-D
A great remake of the original 80's slahser. What makes this film a very entertaining ride is that it jumps straight into the horrific action and doesn't let up. It's clear the film makers spent time on creating the gory set pieces as they are bloody good and yes, very bloody. There is no need for traps and eleborate staging, like the Saw franchise, as the kills here are played quick, brutal and nasty. Whenever The Miner is on screen the film hits the high gears as this killer is a hulking menacing figure, made even more scarier thanks to his fantastic costume and very large pick axe. The cast do a good job as does everybody else involved but the real star of the show is of course the 3D. Having eyeballs, jaw bones, guns, pickaxes and blood fly out of the screen and into your lap makes this the best cinema experience since Grindhouse so make sure you see this in 3D on the big screen. This remake is on par with Dawn Of The Dead and the Hills Have Eyes but falls just short of the mark thanks to its Fight Club wannabe climax, thus losing half a skull. If you can ignore the underwhelming ending then you'll love My Bloody Valentine.
Fantastic 80's slasher flick re-make. While I never saw the original, (though it's now on my list of things to watch...) it was a great gore-show, and the the 3D-glasses gave me more appreciation for the depth a opened human torso could have. The plot was simplistic, and never really had much surprise value. The death scenes, (my favorite being the 'pick-axe-eye-hit') were great and varied, the sheer amount of blood was fun to watch, and I don't think I've ever seen that many hearts just sitting out in the open. (Expect for “Dr. Giggles”, that is...). I'm not sure how the movie will hold up once it hits the home TV without the glasses, but, all in all, a good fun slasher movie that will make you jump and say 'oh-god' at least twice during the film.

I have never seen the original but this movie was awesome. The characters, death scenes and 3D were a match made in heaven (or hell). The blood and action scenes made you jump out of your seat and gave a definite element of surprise. The end was good because it was a good mixture of psychology and suspense. There were several points throughout the movie when I really did not know who the killer was. I thought that the killers custom was excellent and very appropriate to the setting. Some of the death scenes reminded me of the old movies where when the legs where chopped off, blood came spurting out. I think that without 3D, this movie would not have been as good. I think that more movies should have the 3D feature. In general, this movie was cheesy but excellent.
THIS MOVIE KICKED MAJOR ASS!! whomever wrote this movie need to go to paramount and write the next friday the 13th featuring Kane hodder!!!! or the next Freddy VS Jason..cause this movie ROCKED!!! it was awesome havent seen one this good in a very long time..it was worth every penny, they took it from my local theater way too fast cause we planned to go back..but it was off the chain.
To be completely honest i thought this movie was amazing. i am looking forward to when it comes out on dvd i am going to buy it. i recommended it on my myspace

I havent actually seen the original of this film...i wont pretend i have. I love blood, guts and gore in films and this one had them all! The 3D effects were scary!! I s@#t myself when the axe came towards the screen! Which my boyfriend thought the sight of me ducking and screaming (a little) was hilarious...even though he was secretly jumping just as often as i was..The naked woman was quite amusing, esp when she throws the gun at his head! The ending was unpredictable and i liked it..i thought it would be a typical ending where one guy get found out that he is the killer and dies. .. i like the fact that this doesnt happen ... i would have loved to have seen my nans reaction haha (who also like horror films)
Wow..just got back from seeing My Bloody Valentine with my girlfriend....what can I say!!!. 1. this was the first time we have seen a 3-D movie...and what an impact. We get to the screen (number 13 of all numbers)..and we sit there all alone for a good 15mins...as everyone else has gone to see the new Friday the 13th film...So the film starts and is all blured "what the hell" it's meant to be the 2-D version....so my girlfriend quietly leaves to find out where our glasses were (note they forgot to give them us)...anyway back to the film.....the opening sequence was amazing and had us both ducking...it shit up my girlfriend...and one point said she wasn't going to watch it with the glasses on..hahaha. The plot is a new twist on the original..whilst not making it obvious who the killer is...the music was excellent and atmospheric...as for the ending we were both convinced it was the Deputy Sheriff Axel who was the killer....but no a total plot twist... All in all they should make more horror films in 3-D...I found this film highly enjoyable and gripping....and it scared the s@:t out of the noisy eaters behind us....(which is alway a good thing.)
First of all I'd like to say that i love your site and that my bloody valentine movie was great when I saw it, I hope that this made alot of high ratings because it was fabulous and this site should be voted #1 on the internet.
Well i enjoyed the movie the kills were so good real in ur face kinda stuff , i thought it was one of the best remakes alot better than "Promnight & Halloween"
Great gore scenes, and really hilarious, but of course the story and acting was all so horrible. I wasn't expecting much in the first place, so I was all that disappointed in the end.
I Absolutly LOVED This Movie!
For One Thing The Whole 3-D Thing Was AWSOME(my friend & i kept reaching out tryin to touch Jensen Ackles, haha)
And The Movie Itself Was Great,It Had Alota Gore,Cool Death Scenes & Cracked Me The Hell Up.
OMG Honestly,I Did Love This Movie, But To Me,It Was SOOO Much More A Comedy Than A Horror. I Couldnt Stop Laughing At Stuff The WHOLE Time.
Seriously,For The People That Made This Movie:Good Job Making A Horror,AWSOME Job Making A Comedy.
Just SOO Much About It Was Funny To Me.
There are two reasons to see 'My Bloody Valentine 3-D'. Slasher violence in 3-D... and TOM FUCKING ATKINS. Yes, the greatest working man's hero to ever grace the silver screen is back to flaunt his boss mustache. If you don't understand the special love reserved for Mr. Atkins, then you've never seen 'Halloween III', 'Night of the Creeps', 'The Fog', or 'Creepshow'. He does not disappoint in this overall mediocre remake of a slasher classic. Unfortunately, this movie isn't very good on any level... but is probably the third best "re-make" after 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'The Hills Have Eyes'. That's not saying much. If you see it, you have to see it in 3-D or you're just wasting your time. The gimmick really works here and elevates an otherwise lame movie. The ending REALLY shits the bed. Do yourself a favor and go buy the underrated original which was just released on DVD uncut for the first time in history.
This was my first 3-D movie so i was unsure how it would go. I thought it was entertaining and reverts back to the older slasher flicks which was a nice surprise. It was an enjoyable watch and i'm glad that i've seen it at the cinema.
I thought the movie was a very entertaining slasher flick. I had not seen the original so the plot was pretty new to me. The kills were awesome and the 3-D was amazing. This was my first theater 3-d movie and I really enjoyed it.
I loved this movie! Sure, it didn't take long to figure out that the killer MIGHT be Tom but it was still a lot of fun to watch it unfold!
We're not talking about a great dama here, it's a slasher film. Take it for what it's worth!
There was an attention to detail with the 3-D. Like when the girl gets the shovel to the face and her head kinda slowly slides on the shovel a little.
I'm also a HUGE fan of movies that get going with the killing right away and don't just drag on and then an hour into the movie the killing finally gets started.
It has a lot of slasher film cliches but over all it was really good!
I spent the extra money to see it in 3-D because everything is better in the 3rd dimension and can't wait to get it when it comes out on DVD!
I was highly entertained by this movie, and i want to believe it was the film itself, but i just cant help but feel that it wouldn't be half as good without the 3-D. Great villan, great Kills. But The teeny-bopper actors got on my nerves from the beginning. The original film had a far grittier feeling to it, due in part to the casting, and set design. The re-make fails at this horribly and i felt like i was watching "Scream 3-D" at some points. That being said, the 3-D is the most amazing i have ever seen, (car crash scene was awesome). But i dont have any plans to watch this on the small screen.
If you missed this in the theaters, you have been warned.
I thought the movie was exactly what I was hoping for, mindless and fun in 3D. The 3D added quite a bit to the film, both in the kills and the regular action of the film, the separation of actors from the scenery behind them, added something and while not a lot, it was noticeable. As for the story the one thing that stood out more than anything else was pace of this film. Less than 10 minutes into the film an entire ER is wiped out and then a bunch of teenagers are slaughtered and then the movie continued its pace with no longer than 15 minutes of film without at least one death scene. While the death scenes lacked at times, there were a few entertaining ones. The story was cheesy and the writing was okay but the miner was very good, no need for words from the character, just kill em' all. That was one major plus this film had, the killer never spoke and in addition to the slight mystery of figuring out who it was, it kept him kind of bad ass, like Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers. Overall, the film was entertaining but not a great film. If you keep your expectations on the lower side then you will be pleasently surprised, if you are expecting something great, then you may walk out a bit dissappointed.
This could have been great but alas, it will only be "pretty good" and here's why: I had read somewhere that "they" (Director/Producer- whoever) weren't going for the 'gimmicks' with the 3D, that they were going to down play it as it were and let the movie just be a great horror flick that was 3D. Unfortunately, people want the gimmicks in the 3D horror (although the hot naked chick running around for 10 minutes was pretty cool), anyway- they still could have used the 3D better and it not come off cheap looking, ie: In the bar when they were playing pool, that would have been the perfect spot to play with camera angles as the pool cue was coming at us, then when the balls all scattered on the table- a missed opportunity. I will say that the 3D does add scope and depth to the movie, it really is remarkable as to far they have come with this medium, very cool. Hopefully this might start a resurgence in this genre and we might get some really good stuff in the future. I say: If ya got nothing going on and you want to see how far 3D has come, check it out- if nothing else, you'll get to see a not naked 3D chick running around putting up a good fight, might be worth it to ya.
This movie wasn't that great. =/ It wasn't that scary either. If it wasn't in 3d, it wouldn't be scary at all. The concept was amazing. The valentine aspect, and the miners outfit. It's genious! But the execution wasn't great. I haven't seen the original. Maybe it was good... It pissed me off that most of the characters looked similar!! I couldn't tell who was who!!!
this has 2 be one of the best remakes ever. I did not expect everything 2 start off so quick. This movie made me jump and i was on the edge of my seat and jamire king is now one of my favorite genre actresses. i just wish i could have saw it in 3-d.
My Bloody Valentine gets a 3 for 3D. The plot was crap and dull. The movie has a couple laughs, mostly from how badly it was written. The 3D is entertaining, but it's not a good horror film.
It was an average slasher film, but I didn't care for the story line nor the ending that's been done to death. I think the Original had a better terror atmosphere. This film was too soap operaish for me and the ending ruined it and there are a lot of plot holes.
100% amazing i'm glad they didn't create a unstoppable killing machine but at the same time they made a horror film that played out like a mystery and it keeps you guessing till the end
I dragged my mom to see it with me because duh I'm only 15 the look on her face and her screams were priceless! It was one hell of ride!!! 3D was bad ass! My jumped when the pickax hit the screen.
Never had this much fun in a movie!
This movie was awesome. This is one the very rare examples where a remake does pretty well. Plus, this movie still would have been awesome without the 3D. This is one of the only movies I've ever seen that made me jump multiple times. And I think that would have happened even if I saw it in 2D. The gore was great and the kills were awesome. And I loved the twist they put on it when it comes to who the killer was, considering Axel was the killer in the original. But I do wish that the killer was Harry Warden instead of Tom (spoiler, should have said that at the beginning). Like Mr D., this movie does bring the fun of the 80s and definitely, SO FAR, one of the best horror films I've seen this year.
This was a great movie to go to if you want it to feel like the original 80's style slasher film. I enjoyed seeing this and the 3-D part was just a bonus. Some people found the script to be a bit "cheesey," but I enjoyed it how they did not change the script to make it feel as modern. It was a great movie to remake and overall I'd rate this an 8/10. Everyone loves a good slasher film. =)
I'm a huge horror fan and usually I don't like remake. However, this film brought me back to the classic horror films of the 80's. It has everything I loved about horror from that decade, cheesy acting, cheesy one-liners, knowing what's gonna happen next and people popping up as if from no where. I think fans of the classics would love this movie or at least find it amusing and fun.

It was effin' amazing! Fun as hell. I don't jump. But I jumped once because I looked away for a sec. I actually thought it was the wrong guy. Then it turned out to be the other person. Wasn't expecting it, which is always great. Can't find many movies like that anymore. Good remake. Especially in 3-D. Hellz Yea.

REAL HORROR FANS PLEASE STAND UP!!!!
this movie was painfully awful. terrible dialogue, worse acting, and the twist at the end was unbelievable and so stupid. this movie is not fit to be on sci fi forget about in the theaters, probably the last time i watch another remake in the theater.

This movie isn't that great into 2-D, but that's mostly because you have like 60 gags every 2 minutes happening and it's slightly annoying. It would have been much better in 3-D. But besides that I thought it was good, and it's probably worth seeing every now in then... In 3-D.

This movie is good as hell. It really is the perfect date movie. Great kills! It didn't shame the original. But, WTF is w/h the lighting? It looks homemmade, the movie at some points. I think that it had an OK twist. But i had thought it was the other guy. Really good. I am impressed!
Being a huge fan of the original, I had my doubts about how this one would turn out. And to my surprise, this movie rocked, wow. From the very opening moment before the movie starts just telling you to put on your 3D glasses, I was amazed with what I was seeing. I was blown away from start to finish. I didn't even know a viewing experience like this was possible.
Here's a few 3D moments that just amazed me. There's one scene where one of the older local residents behind the killing of Harry Warden is awaken by something in the middle of the night, so he grabs his gun and goes outside to look around. And while he's out there searching for Harry, we get a close up of the shotgun and he waves it front of the camera, you could actually see down the barrel of it. Many of the deaths we get glimpses of the corpses which really looked great, like when the babysitter is revealed to be in the dryer. Really loved that scene, great throwback to the original. The one scene which most have seen already in the trailer where the pick axe is being thrown looks phenomenal. I think I might have even ducked out of the way because I seriously thought it was going to hit me. Even something simple as a hot naked chick throwing a gun at some truckers head turned out great.
YES! This naked chick I speak of. Well, there's a short sex scene with her and the biker I mentioned above. Then after finishing up, the biker gets changed and grabs his camera that was filming the whole thing (that bastard!) then he exits the room and begins to to walk back to his truck. This naked chick flips out, grabs her gun and heads out to the parking lot after him. He knows the guns unloaded so she chucks it at him, then our masked killer pops out, slams his pick axe through the bikers melon and then proceeds to chase the girl. He follows her in to the hotel lobby, but with her quick thinking, she decides to hide under a bed(nice). Shortly after the killer hears her make a noise, so he rips off the mattress and sees her just laying under the bed cage. Then after a few missed shots with the pickaxe (each time it's flying out of the screen at you) he finally hits his target. Oh yea, did I mention throughout that entire sequence, the chick is naked.
The story was decent, took the basic premise of the original and changed some things around such as adding some extra action scenes, and throwing in a few twists here and there. There's really only thing that I have a problem with, I felt the back story which is shown at the beginning was way too rushed. It's like they just wanted to get the Valentine's Day Massacre out of the way, and move on to the other part of the movie which takes place 10 year later. The intro to this movie definitely should have been stretched out a bit more. When an incident like the one that happens takes place, its more effective if we know the characters a bit more that are involved. Especially since the rest of the movie revolves around that incident. Take the movie 'It' for example, don't you think it would have taken away from the quality of that film if the first half where they're kids was cut down to 10 minutes, I know I do. Honestly, that's really my only complaint.
I felt all the actors did an exceptional job in this one. Being a fan of Supernatural, it was great to see Jensen Ackles take on the lead of a horror film. Also, you can't go wrong the gorgeous Jamie King, she is absolutely stunning, I must say. Kerr Smith(Final Destination) also puts in a solid performance as Axel Palmer. A pretty good cast all around.
Being a horror fan, I was more then happy with the kills and gore. There's one scene where the killer throws his pickaxe through Tom Atkins lower jaw (the camera moves around and it actually looks like the axe is stuck beneath your chin), kicks his chest and completely tears it off with the jaw coming flying out of the screen, blood everywhere. There's plenty of pick axes through torso's and skulls, it's really great.
As for the twist at the end, yes, it may have been used before, but that doesn't make it any less effective. I thought it worked great, and I loved seeing our so-called hero revealed as our masked killer. They took a risk switching it up from the original, and I feel it paid off. Soon after a little scuffle between Tom and Axel while Jamie King's character has them at gun point, she shoots at Tom and we're given a great slow motion close up of the bullet being fired and piercing through his side causing an explosion. Then we're shown a little while after the explosion, that Tom survived the explosion when he kills someone trying to rescue any survivors. But that's not it, we're then treated to another final scene of Tom making a nice escape out of the mines by putting on the rescuers gear/mask, and just walking his way out of there in front of tons of police, locals and firemen.
This movie was really a viewing experience like no other, I wish I could see every movie in 3D. Also, this is one movie I would love to see a sequel made to, because I just need to see more. Whether you're a fan of the original or just a horror fan in general, give this one a look, I promise you will not be disappointed.
9/10

this was a terrible movie i dont understand why Bloody gave this film an above average rating its terrible. The 3-D was nothing great...it even started to disappear the farther the movie dragged on. Where was the story? The killer (after finding out he was the killer in the DUMBEST WAY!) was a terrible actor with his strange fake deep voice! By far the cheapest recent horror film remake i have ever seen. I would rather watch ONE MISSED CALL remake and i havent even seen it! The director said it was extremely hard to make a 3-D horror film and it shows terribly. As a current film student this makes me hate hollywood more then i already do.

In alot of ways I like this more than the original. It is good to see Jensen Ackles in a movie,I think he has a long career and hopefully a couple more seasons of SUPERNATURAL left in him.
The movie had some cool 3D. The kills were really not interesting at at all and very repetitive & the acting was just so bad that I wanted it to end as soon as it started.
An extremely boring film and I only give it 1 skull based on the 3D experience. I probably would have walked out on this film if I hadn't seen the 3D version. What a piece of sh!7! movie this was, I don't have any faith on the reviewers on this site at all.
You have to admit given all the PG-13 remakes from last year, We finally got an R movie that lived up to it's name. I thought it was FANTASTIC. Pure FUN. The 3D was amazing.

I really enjoyed this. It did drag at times but overall it was pretty good.
I absolutely loved this movie. The whole 3-D experience and all. I loved the original and believe this is a very good update. The kills were awesome in 3-D and in my opinion, it was very true to the original. Great job, one of the best times in a horror movie in quite a while.

What an interesting film. Having never seen the original, but hearing that it was very violent and gory, I knew I would have to check this one out. On opening day, at the first showing of the day, I was planted in a theater seat with my 3D glasses.
I was totally blown away by how realistic everything looks once the 3D glasses are on and the movie gets rolling. Not only does it seem to actually be playing out right in front of your face, but when the killer threw his pickaxe towards the screen and it flies right at the audience, I actually flinched a couple of times. And I never flinch during a horror movie.
The kill scenes were especially interesting to watch in 3D, with much blood spray and gore. That said, if the movie had not been in 3D, I don't think it would have been so great. The plot was predictable to me, and I had it figured out way before the end of the movie, but the ride there is what made it such a good time.
I don't know if movies that are released in digital 3D for theaters are released on DVD that way, but if not, then I urge everyone to go out and experience this for yourself before it is too late.
If you like blood and gore and seeing it all in 3D, then you will definitely enjoy yourself.
"I have a lazy eye, and I was able to see it in 3-D just fine." pppppppffffffftttttttthahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahah
Not the best horror movie out there by any means, but it's good nonetheless. Overall the film has lots of gore, which makes it very entertaining to watch. Wasn't so impressed with the 3-D part, there's wasn't much reason for seeing it in 3-D really. Recommended for horror fans, but keep in mind certainly not one of the best horror movies.

I actually loved this movie. Corny yes but in the best possible way for "back to the roots" concept in horror. Was it scary? Not really but I don't scare easy. It was fun and gory and made me smile. I'll buy it when it comes out and see the sequel when it's released. A different ending would have made me a little happier but all in all Awesome.
Predictable, but alot of fun. Figured out the twist within the first 20 minutes of the movie, so I was disappointed about that. Overall a good movie that every horror fan should see.
As a film it kicked ass, but 3D needs a lot of work and I don't even think it will take off, go and see this movie in 2D because it is an awesome slasher
Loved it... it was by far the best horror movie I have seen in a long time... plus it had Jensen Ackles in it... so it's the poo in my book!!!!!!
I give MBV3D 10 Axe swinging miners out of 10 Axe awinging miners :D
* Just to get it out of the way: I saw this film in 2-D, thus cannot comment on the 3-D aspect.
It’s hard to review My Bloody Valentine. Almost everyone who goes to see it will be expecting nothing but unabashed fun, gore, sex, and laughs. If I look at the film that way, I guess it somewhat delivered. Big emphasis on the SOMEWHAT. But if I look at My Bloody Valentine with the same mindset I judge every movie I see, I can’t help but realize how completely disappointing it was. As an overall fun experience, I’d have much rather spent my doing something retarded with friends, like attempting to steal a walrus from the zoo or something. My point is that My Bloody Valentine just isn’t fun to watch. It plays into every single tired horror idea you’ve seen countless times, and mixes in a bunch of soap opera elements for no apparent reason whatsoever. People cheating on their spouses, melodramatic father/son moments, boyfriends/girlfriends with relationship problems— who really cares? And all this melodramatic crap takes up more than half the movie. I felt more like I was watching Laguna Beach than a balls-to-the-wall modern slasher. If there is anything that sucks the fun out of My Bloody Valentine faster than anything else, it’s these ultra-boring melodramatic scenes. People complain that without them, the movie would have no plot. They would be right. But the movie didn’t have a plot to start with, so who cares? I’d rather see 75 minutes of pure manic massacring than 101 minutes of massacre mixed with melodrama any day. Pure massacre is fun. Massacre mixed with melodrama held my interest for about 15 minutes, and then I was ready to walk out of the theater and demand my money back. I really wish I had.
The other problem with My Bloody Valentine was the lame kills. People are raving on and on about how gory this movie is, but, I’m sorry, the kills were all generic and boring. I was decently impressed with the amount of violence—that was a little above average—but there was next to no actual gore. Someone is stabbed with the pickax: you see an airborne stream of blood, then the camera quickly cuts away. Every single time. There is no graphic detail; there is no gory after effects; it’s all quick and painless and pointless. There is one scene where the director builds up a single kill for ten minutes, and then the payoff kill is as generic, quick, and boring as imaginable. This movie has no “insane violence!” It has boring violence. Again, there is no fun there.
The story was creative back in the 80s, and I do give the original My Bloody Valentine credit for that. But in 2009, the remake lacks anything even mildly different from what we’ve seen before. Where is the fun in the familiar? It’s like repeating a joke you’ve heard before—it’s stale.
Possibly the only good thing I have to say about My Bloody Valentine is that it has style. When it uses the Valentine’s Day theme, it nails it. The opening scene in the hospital was one of the greatest massacre scenes in horror history. The scenes with the boxes of chocolate are extraordinary. The photos of the heart-shaped tub kill is beautiful. However, the Valentine’s Day theme is used so little it’s very easy to forget about it. It’s sad, really, because if they had used it more prevalently, the movie would have been so much better.
Overall, My Bloody Valentine is far from a terrible movie, but it’s just not fun to watch. It’s boring. It’s repetitive. It’s annoying. But despite every single negative thing I just said, My Bloody Valentine is so far superior to the other modern 80s rehashes, it’s hard for me to complain. I’d take this over all the Wrong Turns and Hatchets combined. If you must watch a modern slasher, this is the definitive one. But if you’re a true horror fan who wants nothing but to see the genre furthered with intelligence and originality, and, in this case, fun, then you shouldn’t waste your time in Harmony. Don't even consider it.
loved it. i got exactly what i wanted in this movie and i HIGHLY recommend dishing out the extra cash for a 3D screening. the only downside was that the two characters who survive at the end, I've never wanted two characters to die more in a slasher movie, EVER
I am a true horror fan and I loved this flick. I wanted a mindless gorefilled slasher, in 3D. I loved the visuals and loved the gore and thats what I expected from this flick. It didnt say this was going to an original blow your mind OMG what a twist movie, it wasnt supposed to be. It was a great mindless slasher.
wow, i can't believe how many positive reviews i am reading about this movie. It was not Awful, but it def. was not an awsome movie. to be the begining started so bluntly that i was thrown off for the rest of the film. the plot was so paper thin and the valentines day theme was barly there. the acting was totally awful and way predictable. and why did every character fall down every two seconds!? the gore was good the deaths were good but to me that was not enough.the end was just so stupid and anti-climactic and not believable. today is the day after i saw the movie and i actually feel like i have only seen a really long trailer for the film. it was a paint by numbers horror film that is OK for a general public, but true horror fans should be disapointed
Awesome movie, loved it, never seen the original tho, so cant compare it to the original.
the 3d was kinda not soo great.
I personally prefere 2d, cause you get higher quality.
But ya overal it was awesome.

Mediocre remake with a gimmick, but hey, gimmicks get asses in the seats. Horror fans will be disappointed but teenie boppers will have one hell of a time. Piss poor use of Tom Atkins by the way. 5/10
Fucking AWESOME!! I thought it would be alright, but it was great! LOADS of great gore and the story wasn't bad either. its gotta be one of the best remakes. Watch it in 3D if you can :)

Okay, the hype, the trailers, the 3-D experience.
All worth it. After seeing "the Unborn" last weekend and being pissed off and madder than a box of frogs at the poor writng, the incompentent acting and so forth, My Bloody Valentine redeemed itself. What a fun and worthwhile show. The 3-D effects were great but the movie was not dependent on it. Nice job,Lionsgate.(stay til the end credits--;)

A good 3D movie horror flick. There was alot of gore throughout the movie. The story was good and entertaining. It was better than i thought it would be, it was better than the original movie.

I was hoping that this movie was going to be fantastic and I wasn’t disappointed. The kills were gross, bloody and extremely entertaining, especially in 3D. I loved that it was reminiscent of an 80’s slasher flick, all about the scares and having fun at the same time. The deaths were extremely gruesome and hilarious to see in 3D. The acting was superb—everyone played their part exceptionally well (especially Jensen Ackles) and it was overall a major win. I believe that this movie will be just as fun to watch in 2D as it was in 3D, but seeing it in theatres in 3D is a must. I can’t wait to see it again and I am taking as many people with me as possible!
I just got home from the theatre and I'm still buzzing from that awesome 3D experience. I was expecting a slasher flick with gory kills and some "TNA", and that's exactly what I got.
I loved every second of it. Great entertainment.

My bloody valentine 3-D is actually a fun, popcorn flick. It was gory, it was sexy, and it was fun. Why only 3 skulls? While I still was entertained by the film and while I recommend it to everyone, I still thought it was too gory. I understand this was a slasher flick and it was all about gore but every 5 minutes we saw an axe to the skull, axe to the eyeball, shovel to the jaw, and more gruesome deaths. Even if you don't like 3-D or horror, I bet you'll still have a fun time with My bloody valentine 3-D.

**SLIGHT SPOILERS*
While not thje perfect film, and definately does not live up to the original, MBV 3-D knows that it is a bloody good time, with gore galore. it is literally just a gore-hound kibble fest. The ending, while really the same as the original, with one slightly major difference, does not work as well as in the original. Lussier's film is a good slasher, but a bad mystery.

I remember seeing the original on vhs in the late eighties and not really being all that impressed with it, and I watched it again on dvd before going to see the remake and I have to say, the remake, to me is actually superior to the original. It was awesome! it actually had that eighties slasher film vibe to it, and the 3D was incredible. I hope this movie does well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel. I loved how the movie basically followed the plot of the original but with enough changes to make it feel fresh. Honestly if all remakes were as well done as this I may not have such a problem with them, although I suppose it helps that I didn't exactly think of the original as hallowed grounds, so to speak. Unlike, say, Halloween, My Bloody Valentine was a movie that could actually be improved upon. I may even go see it again Monday since I'm off work
great horror gore nudity and 3D. Ending was done before not to give anything away but if you've seen High Tension then?Definitely see it in 3D but a warning you will be a little dizzy after you take those glasses off

Not a bad movie when it comes to gore.me and my wife liked it altho, both feel jipped in that after a drawnout nude sceen the woman did not die more gruesomely.
My Bloody Valentine is such a fun movie. I was lucky enough to expreience this movie and 3D and it was awesome. The 3D definitely made us feel more involved in the story and it was a clever device to use. THe 3D was not only used to make it more fun, it was used to explain the plot as well. This movie would still be great in regular 2D. The death scenes are amazing. About 3 deaths pay homage to the original film and the rest pay homage to all of the fun 80s slasher flick deaths. If anyone finds them to be dumb or ridiculous then tyhere not understanding the point of this movie. The point of this film is to bring back the 80s feel to the horror genre and have a fun time. This movie is definitely an expploitation flick and it does it fantastic. Although all of the kills are done with the pick axe besides 1 or 2 they all are still very well thought out. Go see this movie in its glorious 3D or in its regular 2D and you will have the best time with a horror movie slasher flick in a long time. I hope they make a sequel to this flick.

Watch the movie just for the fun of it, don´t expect a super clever plot and you´ll be fine, Start very strong, then in the middle it kinda turns to a Soap opera with a a Killer (I DARE YOU to watch certain hospital scene and not Laugh if you cvompare it to some day-drama!), then picks up the pace again, but in the end, the ¨big revelation¨ ruined for me, SPoILER ALERT!! Hautte Tension much?, and the final confrontation was so ridiculous (it wouldn't have happened if someone remembered there was a GUN in HIs/her HANd!!!) the obligated set for a sequel, the 3-d factor was cool, never forced or overused, but all in all the movie was a good way to pass the time (which it's pretty much the point, it's not Shakespeare!!)i'd say 8/10...

this movie was so fun and the graphics were awsome
The good things...The openning credits were awesome, great way to start the story. The story was well conceived and tied around a town legend, much the same way Dead Silence was, like it or hate it. The stunt person playing the killer did a great job. All of the female characters acted fairly well. The guy playing the sheriff did great, Kerr Smith. The atmosphere, cinematography was well done. 3D was incredible, but it should be if you are paying more money to see that. When you advertise a movie is in 3D, you should get something good. The effects, scares, and gore were top notch.
What was bad...
The male cast. The reveal on who the killer was. The killer was a rip off. I feel like it was a really poor decision to do what they did, almost borderlined on supernatural, or a big suspension of disbelief with what you spent watching the previous hour and half. There were a couple of WTF moments, that I am still trying to figure out. The motel scene was terrible, acting, pacing, editing, everything.
Was this a fun movie, yes. Did it have scares, yes, but only at the help of the 3D element. Do not waste your money and see this without 3D.

To call this movie 'perfect' would be far from accurate, but it is still a solid entry in the slasher genre. The 3D aspect was done perfectly, not too gimmicky, not too bland. The kills were great, though limiting the murder weapon to only a pick axe does make the kills seem repetitive after a while.
Any other nits I could pick, are really nits with the slasher genre in general, and wouldn't be entirely fair. Bad acting and lame twists come with the territory, and faulting a movie for having them is setting a rather unreasonable standard.
In summary, it's an entertaining movie, and if you go into it expecting what it is, I think you'll enjoy it.
The only other movie ive seen in actual 3D was that crappy Michael Jackson nemo thing from the 80s/90s when I saw it at disneyland (as if kids need to see michael jackson "coming" at them in 3D)
So it was a blast to watch a film in 3D for the first time since that (I dont really count that)
and it was very fun very effective and not used in too many over the top silly ways to just use it, it's a fun bonus to the film that makes it even more entertaining.
The film isnt anything ground breaking with plots or characters, I pretty much agreed with most websites reviews of the film, it's nothing great but it's fun and a good time at the theaters.
im really looking forward to final destination death trip 3d and piranha 3D as I see the fun and potential of the new era of 3D filmaking.
7/10

I saw this movie last night,it was the most fun i've ever had watching a horror film in many years!!The gore was fucking brutal, the 3d effects were dead-on with the film, neither taking away from the story or sickness!!This one was in my head way after i walked out of the theater,i wanted to turn right back around and see it again.I recommend this film to all horror fans, they will walk away with a big shit-eating grin on their faces!!!
Anyone who is trashing on the film is just being a hater. Going into this film, I expected a story that was going to be predictable and stray from the original that I love so much. But I was also expecting, and greatly entertained by, the sheer number of gruesome deaths that used the 3D technology to its fullest. The film doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It understands that it is a 3D film that will be fueled by gimmicks, and I congratulate them for at least making it the best damn gimmick filled 3D film I've seen yet.
Who the hell goes to a 3D horror film expecting the next Citizen Kane anyway?
When I wrote an "official" review of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 IN 3-D a couple of years ago, I said it was a supremely flawed but reasonably enjoyable film in its 2-D form, but an unforgettable amusement park thrill ride when viewed as it was intended - in three dimensions. That same verdict can be applied to MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3-D. It's a little bit smarter, a hell of a lot gorier, and decidely more self-referential and (appropriately) tongue-in-cheek than the PG-13 slasher remakes of recent years (WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, PROM NIGHT, etc.) - all of which makes it just good enough to justify spending an hour and forty one minutes seeing it once, if you have nothing better to do. But in 3-D, all of its in-jokes and genre conventions take on a whole new life, and when the credits roll, you'll find yoruself experiencing the same euphoria you feel when you get off a cool ride at Cedar Point or Six Flags. Though it's hardly a classic, it succeeds in doing something few other slasher films in the last two decades have - it stands out from the crowd, literally and figuratively. In short, it's the original MBV (not great, but a notch above most others of its type from that period), only coming out of the screen at you. Fun, plain and simple.
it was horrible i would rather die trhan see it again. there ws nothing good about it other than th 3D part. so if i were depating rather or not to see this or anyother movie, do yourself a favor an go see it.
the purest definition of fun. anyone ive come across bashing it, to me, just doesn't get it. its a modern day throwback to what made the 80's slasher formula fun/work. yea, you can guess hus gonna die, what situations are going to end bloodily, but hu cares, we've seen it before but this very nicely worked in its own fun take on a slasher film. as a horror film, it was the best way to start the new year, cause the unborn didnt really start anything
it was overall an entertaining movie, the 3D made it even better. The only complaint i have is the writing. It got pretty terrible at times haha but overall its a good way to spend a friday night
I loved this movie!!! it was so entertaining and funny...soo worth watching!

My Bloody Valentine 3D does not copy exactly the original movie but does not ruin it either. It leaves the core intact while modernizing the plot. This movie should not be taken as a serious remake since it has some death scenes that contain over-the-top gore but look a bit humorous. It's a really fun movie. The 3D effects are a good touch, and it's not annoying like the old school 3D. Loads of kills, loads of splattered blood and carnage everywhere. It sure embraces the "Bloody" in the title. The only thing that got in my nerves is the pacing. Sometimes it feels like the movie is going too fast. Also, the town is shocked with the murders and the viewer doesn't get that holiday feeling like in the original. Awesome fun, nonetheless.
I thought this was a GreaT movie! the special effects with the 3D were used greatly and the kill scenes were a gory mess, which i love. It kept you second guessing yourself the whole time. Good job by the characters as well. THis movie dind't stall out nor get boring at any time. Well in detail and jumped right into it from the word go. i recommend seeing it in 3D at least once for the full effect of the movie!
WOW im surprised theres not more bad reviews i would never have thought that brad miskas piss poor opinion on what is horror these days would have such a impact on all the tools that come to this website. EVERYONE WHO IS EVEN CURIOUS ABOUT SEEING THIS MOVIE ****DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND SUPPORT THIS RUBISH*****any fans of the original will be greatly disapointed!!! this makes rob zombies CRAP take on halloween look like the shawshank redemption. Not even tom atkins could save this train wreck to hell. Unoriginal and repetetive kills, horrible actors,GOD AWFUL twist. PAINFUL TO WATCH. i found myself rather bored through this just wanting the hour and 47 to get over with. It sucks this thing only goes down to 2it doesent even deserve a tooth. But if you all want to jump on the blind bandwagon and waste money on this slap in the face to the original. go right ahead hot topic has their doors wide open waiting for you to buy this shirt with a set of heath ledger joker gloves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This movie was definitely a lot of fun. The jaw-rip was great and had me screaming in disgust. I wasn't expecting it to just tear off. Anyways, this movie is a must see for any horror fan which is everyone who visits this site. Oh, and Irene (naked girl)... hilarious. Also, the twist somewhat bugged me. It's been done too much.
I thought the movie was really good not great but really good.
Shocking Ending that i did not espect and the 3D was great. Great gore scenes and tons of blood and shocking kills. I give it 8 Stars. I can't wait for the Blu-Ray disc dvd to come out.

For me, the reedeeming quality of the movie was the 3D, it was done excelently, and most of the kills were really fun, but, that did not stop me from yawning through the movie. In my opinion, it was better than alot of the remakes now-a-days, but thats not saying much.
I saw the original movie a while ago, and I absolutely loved it, so there was no doubt about me getting excited for the remake, until I saw it and wasnt a remake, but a re-invisioning of the film, which is exactly what is happening with the new Friday the 13th "Remake". Now, I am not expecting a scene for scene cut and paste, but if your going to call it a remake, atleast follow the guidelines of the original script a bit better. I dont like to see these movies as remakes, I just see them as sequels, because for the most part, "remakes" follow a different path of original story, and they dont have the same characters, which, I thought, MBV3D did a decent job at swirving away from that pattern.
The one thing I absolutely hated the most about the movie was the end, I dont want to give it away what-so-ever, but it leaves it WIDE open for sequels, which I thought was such a greedy move and such a quick cash in. Again, if your going to call it a remake, do not rape and brutalize the end to make a few more dollars, the original ended on a good stand, there were no sequels, meaning, what ever sequel they end up writing is simply going to be horrendous.
All-in-all, it was decent at best, I had some fun with it, especially with the kills, and I thought the 3D technology was fantstic, with all that aside, they could have done a much better job with the acting and casting of the characters, and although the 3D was excellent, I did find my eyes straining and hurting after some scenes.
This is why it deserves a 6 out of 10.

Not the worst movie, but it's pretty bland; bad acting, below average cinematography and horrible character development (we're supposed to care about these people?), along with repetitive kills make this a rather poor remake. Also, I agree with B-D about the ending; it was one huge cheat.
Just returned from the 6pm viewing of MBV and i have to say that im still at a loss of words, lets start from the begining. first its a little more expensive to watch a 3d out here but, its a must watch for that. AS for the plot, the begining kept me entertained, gore, gore, gore and very unique kills. the acting is so-so, i enjoyed Jamie King, but as for the rest of the cast they were just to "scripted" so to speak, very unconvincing acting, esp sheriff axel, i just cant seem to take that guy seriously, ever.
As for the last 35 minutes of the movie following store scene, i was pretty confused and bored. Tne ending is quite the twist but not for my liking. Overall im mixed with the film. cant say its good cant say its bad..

This movie was a joke. I can't believe this is what passes as 'Horror' these days. Don't give me that whole 'you're not a true fan' spiel because I don't claim to be the most awesomestbiggestfan of the original and own 178267362 DVDs. The movie was lame. The original wasn't great to begin with and this is no better. The beginning was dumb and the reason behind the massacre was even worse. I felt ZERO compassion for any of the characters and IMO, the whole damn town deserved what they got. I'm just ticked that they ALL didn't die. Now, I will give props for the tie-ins to the original. I also admit the 3D aspect mixed with gore and nudity was fun. Can't front on that. However, it doesn't forgive the fact the story is full of holes and cheap ways keep it 'entertaining'. There are too many 'WTF?!' moments. (How the hell did he get to the back of the store so damn quick?! How in the hell is he able to sneak around in BOOTS?! She chose NOW to hit the alarm?!) Hardly any real scares. (Hell my friend sat next to me waiting to be scared and told me she never was.) Acting? Meh. Writing? Meh...If you must see it, do it in 3D. If you can't, don't bother. Next!!!

Sweet movie, 3D made it even more awesome! The story was amazing and the acting was superb. Enough blood and guts to satisfy and nudity too haha! All those things even better in 3D glory! Definitely lives up to the original, if not better! I know my movie theater was packed to see it, #1 at the box office? We shall see.
loved the movie and seeing it in 3d made it so much better but i had a problem with the ending. i think they should have had the same killer as in the orignal, it should have been axle not tom

Best horror movie. It was awesome. I saw it 2 days ago.
I have been excited for this movie ever since I saw the trailer, and it exceeded all expectations. It was so disgusting, but it was so much fun watching it in 3D that I didn't care. The movie was also surprisingly scary (I only expected it to be nasty, not frightening). There were a few parts that had myself, my friends and the whole theater laughing, but thankfully I believe they were intentional laughs, unlike some horror movies recently (The Happening, eh?) It had a great story as well, and I liked how it keeps a wide range of suspects up until the big finale. Oh, and the chase scene with Betsy Rue was probably one of the best sequences I've seen in a horror movie in a long time. All in all, this movie kicked ass from start to finish, and I can't wait for the sequel (if and when there ever is one).
Loved it!! this is what we loved about the 80's slasher movies, alot of blood, good kills and some twists and turns in the storyline. Great acting by jamie king and jensen ackles. The 3d experience was alot of fun as well. My bloody valentine is the start of what could be a part of a great year in horror, underworld 3, friday the 13th, last house on the left is a great start
Ziltoid....almost 90% of your posts are negative, please kill yourself.
On a positve note, this movie was great. Lived up to exactly what it was supposed to be, a fun, 80's style slasher movie.
This movie was badass. The 3D was a step up from all the other ones. This is one of the best horror remakes ive seen out there. Cant wait for the 2nd one. Some of the most fun ive had in the movie theater in awhile.

Just got back from seeing this in 3-D. I loved the original and this one was just as good! I have never seen a 3-D movie before so the experience was very cool! Hope they make a sequel!
yes this film has a few flaws, but they really didnt change the experience for me. I took my frat brothers because I have been talking about this movie since i rushed last semester. they were all really skeptical. but once the movie started i kinda think they enjoyed it a little more than i did. but we were cheering, laughing, dodging gun barrels and bloody pick axes in our seats.
this movie is a great rollercoaster thrill ride despite its minor pacing issues in the beginning of the film.
great homages to the original and slasher films in general.
i didnt see the end comming and was very content with its conclusion.
yes some parts of the film would not be as entertaining in 2D but the film its self is a great slasher, good kills, lots of blood, chilling at moments, creepy, eerie, good plot. ild say its one of the best remakes because its so true to the genre and its rules.
plus we have a cast of smart self conflicted adults which made the character relationships better than in the original.
plus...Jaime King has earned her place as a horror scream queen. im proud of her.
it was a fun night and i will be seeing it a few more times this weekend and watching the hell out of it on DVD.
overall the films an 8/10...not perfect but its a whole lot of something...dam good something.

First thing, The 3D was simply amazing. It really felt like I was in the movie. It wasn't used as a gimmick although it did have the gimmick moments. The story was similar to the original and it seemed to play off the people that are big fans of the the original.
The movie was hellacioulsy fun. Not an award winner although I can definately see it going on some top 10 of 2009 lists. It was simply a fun thrill ride of a movie. It never really had a dull moment. With me bieng a fan of Supernatural it was great to see Jensen Ackles do something like this. It was definatley better than Devour.
The kills were extremely well done and never felt like they were intentionally done to take advanteage of the 3D. MBV3D used it without abusing it.
now I can sit back and wait for Friday the 13th, and watch the My Bloody Valentine special edition while I wait....and probably go watch this one at least one more time too!
Put simply, "My Bloody Valentine" is a lot of fun. The movie kept a good level of suspense and tension throughout mainly because they never got too cheesy or gimmicky with the 3D incorporation. Capped off with tons of gore, scares(both jump and genuine), a hot nude scene and strong mystery at its core, I would say the movie is definitely worth watching. I wouldn't go as far to say that the 3D made the movie, but while its in theaters, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see it how it was meant to be seen. Make sure to see it soon with a good 12 o'clock crowd thats ready to jump, laugh, and scream.

Just got back from a 10:30 PM preview of 'My Bloody Valentine' and I loved it! The MBV remake has everything missing in most so-called horror films today, namely creative, gory kills, great scares, and gorgeous, full-frontal nudity of a true hottie. Go see this film in all its fun, hard-R goodness. The spirit of the great 80's horror films lives on thanks to 'Valentine', which uses the 3-D gimmick to great effect. Kudos to all involved in the making of this gore-fest!
Ok so, how do I say this? Really? That's what was written down then everyone just looked around and said "Perfect, Let's go with that?"
Let me stop here and get the good stuff out before it fades away. 3D, the shit. Gore/Kills, great. The two of them combined make this movie worth watching, in 3D, once...maybe twice if your're bored (or high). Some of them are so over the top you'll find yourself laughing with everyone else in the theater.
The 3D certainly does put you in a front row seat to everything. The depths were done well and everything seemed to stand out very well. I will say though, everything was lit pretty brightly. This might have been needed for shooting 3D, I really think it took away from the creepyiness of the cave. There are a few 3D gags that come out at the audience, and those are done pretty fairly. It's kinda cool the first time it happens, but after a while it gets old. Kind of like this movie....
Cause it starts off great! The movie starts right up with a bang and keeps swinging for the first 35 mins or so. You're really involved with what's going on, because everyone is mostly just running from the Miner. After the hotel the story seems to die down and then come to a slow sputter in the end.
You really lose interest in what's going on and you're also trying to figure out who's who. Now, this is where my biggest problem comes with the movie. It fucking cheated. You really start to eliminate people and you come up with a core base of who it could be. And then, in a blink of an eye, all the evidence you thought you had is gone. It was all bullshit.
Then the last 12 mins is like watching two drunks dudes fight outside a bar at 2 a.m. after a celtics vs. laker finals game. The writing for this movie was just ridiculous. I don't blame the actors for some sub par performances because they were reading pure shit out of this script. Todd Farmer was a co writer on that pile of shit and he makes another appearance like he did in Jason X....another shit heap.
So anyway after a few awesome kills, a couple of eye twitches, an angry Tom Atikins, some long awkward pauses and a big fucking storyline cheat by everyone involved, you have MBV. It is what it is. If you can't see it in 3D don't go see it. Wait for it to come out on DVD/Blu Ray so you can at least watch it in 3D at home.
The Original FTW!

So i was lucky enough to go see My bloody Valentine 3d tonight for an early screening and let me just saw i haven't had that much fun watching a movie in a long time. The 3d was spot on. Hands down the best 3d i have ever seen. Secondly, the gore was phenominal!!! I all around loved it. GO see it!
I got tickets to see the advanced screening tonite. I must say that I wouldn't dare see this movie without it being 3D. The whole 3D aspect add's to the whole feel of the movie. The shock factor in the movie is pretty big. Not only is someone getting killed, but something is flying outta the screen towards the audience. The pace of the film picks up quick with the action staying pretty strong. The only thing I wasn't really feeling was some of the acting seemed kinda fake. Jamie King does a great job portraying the female lead, but it just seemed they had them freaking out over nothing sometimes and falling over or no reason. The movie is definately very entertaining and is a must see. I'll probably go see it again atleast once.

This movie was flat out awesome! The 3D was amazing and the ending was great! I don't want to give away too much, but it's a definte must see. One of the best horror remakes out there. What a way to start out the new year!
I just saw it in a sneak preview, in its full 3D glory, and I have to say that it was awesome. I am afraid that I didn't see the original, but I am not typically a horror fan. It has everything you want, however, including graphic gore and nudity. Sure, you can sit there and silently scream at the characters about how stupid they are, but in many places we get a clear nod to the campy predecessors of this modern film without making this one as campy as you would expect. I was quite impressed with the cinematography in particular. I felt that the delivery was a bit poor in a couple of the scenes, but dialogue is not what drives this movie. Not only is it a good horror movie, I'd say it's a good movie in general, and the hardcore horror nuts who were with me were very enthusiastic as well. It seems hokey from the synopses, but it's actually a great film when you get into the spirit of it.
I'm a huge fan of the original film. The original was certainly not appreciated in it's day. The new film is really only a remake in terms of location and familiar names. The story is different but there are definitely references to the original in the kills. The film mixes murder mystery with comedy in just the right tone. It does a great job of understaning what kind of film it should be and never tries too hard to be too serious. It's a great slasher film and will satisfy most that enjoy those types of films. Some of my friends felt that the running time was too long but I felt it right on for the pace of the movie. The movie features an awesome opening sequence which really highlights the 3D technology. This movie is a great date film and would be just as enjoyable in a non 3D format. I would give it 8 out of 10 stars for being a damn fun movie!
A lot of fun, that's the best thing you can say about this film, it's exactly what it was supposed to be, a slasher film, and it does deliver. I was very impressed with the 3-D on this film, it made the film feel like you were a star, which definitely worked in its favor. But the twist at the end, meh, made the ending feel a little, well, blah I guess. But upto then, really well paced...and the acting is very good.
Now the gore wasn't too over the top, but in this case it worked so well, the deaths had me giggling, not because they were funny, just because they were awesome. Probably the most fun I've had since GRINDHOUSE, if 3-D is available where you live, don't hesitate, it's a fun film that doesn't try to be anything else but a fun, thrilling blood soaked ride. I recommend it.
