This is a hard movie to rate. Overall, it is your standard SyFy movie of the week. The plot is so formulaic that traditional plot developments (the discovery of the bugs' "weakness for example), are summed in 10 or 15 words of dialog. It's almost like the director is saying to the audience, "Yeah, you know what happens here. Let's move on." Overall, the movie felt ridiculously rushed.

The thing is, he just might be, as there are a few moments of genius, where it is clear that the director knows the trappings of the genre and plays with them. Cooper's speech about "if I turn into one of those..." is a great and hilarious moment. The way the tension between Cooper and Cindy plays out is also delightfully different and unexpected.

Unfortunately for the movie, there just aren't enough of those genius moments. The jabs that the director takes at a few genre cliches end up amplifying the many, many others that he falls victim to.

That said, I watched this all the way to the end, and I don't regret it. I was reasonably entertained, but simultaneously let down by huge number of missed opportunities. I will look forward to the director's next film, and I hope that budget issues, which were clearly a huge limitation for Infestation, are friendlier to him next time.

My final note will be to offer huge kudos to Chris Marquette on his performance. He was definitely a cut above most of the other actors in this, and really made the movie a lot more watchable. His character was believable and hilarious, and I look forward to seeing him in bigger and better things.

I have to say this was entertaining Horror Comedy. Nothing special but B.Nevin was a bright spot.

This movie was funny as hell. The ending was a tad disapointing but I got a lot of laughs out of this I couldn't stop laughing. It kind of reminded me of zombieland but with bugs instead of zombies. Its good to kill some time too, and it's not really that bad of a movie.

You guys are jerks (lol) -- I may have been pretty drunk while watching this flick, but for a SyFy original I was quite entertained. This is definitely a movie where you must have ZERO expectations to enjoy it - and can't let the low budget, mostly cheesy CG take away from the rest of it (and yes MrDisgusting, the webs looked like the fake snow you put on your Christmas tree.) This movie is a COMEDY at heart and if you're expecting ANY form of horror here, turn the other way. I thought the cheesy CG and the cheesy acting simply made the movie more funny and enjoying to watch (same way that In The Name of the King was hilarious from start to finish!)

The main character and his father were both pretty fun characters and there was a few great moments throughout (when a certain character is gunned down by another character, for example, I was literally cheering with delight).

So anywho... all in all, if you're bored as hell and your only options are Wrong Turn 3 (as it was with me) or Infestation... give this flick a shot and I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.

I'm in agreement. This movie was incredibly disappointing. It's not funny, it's not fun and furthermore it's not bloody. While I am always OK with a movie being PG-13, movies like this suffer because of it. I also couldn't stand how the webs looked like giant pieces of cotton. The lighting was overexposed and acting way under par for such a great cast. Pass.

Here is a perfect example of a film that looks good, seems to have all the right elements to make for a good time, but turns out to be bland, unoriginal, and very disappointing. It also explains why user reviews is turned off before a movie opens up. The movie is a big letdown!

Even after the first five minutes, I thought they had something; unfortunatley, fifteen minutes later, it was obvious it was not to be. Sci-Fi-channel-level material here. Bugs seem interesting at fist sight, but they are one-dimensional. Bugs should be gooey and icky, but except for some shaving cream that comes out of them when they explode, they were missing a level of datail that made them real or scary. I did like the hybrid bug people, but nothing comes from this: it's shown then forgotten. These few fx shots/makeup, along with the main character who was sort of funny, helped carry the film through its many slow moments, lifting the film from the complete-waste-of-time bin - only slightly.

I think they had a good, original idea, but weren't willing to go all out to make a film that took any chances or showed anything origianal. Showing some breasts is a horror or monster movie to get an adult-rating cannot and will not make up for the lack of story, scares, effects, and acting - all of which this film is lacking.
