I saw it Christmas day and well it was so boring I wanted to take a nap in the theater. Keanu quit making movies Tom Hanks & Bruce Willis refuse to make.

keanu reeves once again has pulled off the hard task of completely boring me. he always plays the same character. my heart never left it's resting rate and it was a total waste of $7. the only thing that saved the night was my boy at my side.

Decent movie. Starts out good, but doesn't make it all the way.

This movie was bad. The casting was terrible. The spaceship/globe and Gort was lame. I didn't expect much and was still let down. Keenu and Jennifer Connelly doom any project, both are deadpan actors. Not to mention the kid character who was really so obnoxious I was hoping Gort would zap him.

I thought this was a pretty good movie. Ya some of the CGI was bad but overall very cool sci-fi remake to the classic. Its not nearly as good as the Knowing but still very good.

Come on now, we all know that every movie keanu reeves is in sucks, except devils advocate, which he was shitty in but al saved it. Having him in a movie is like a breath of fresh air for a director to slack his balls off. Oh, and why the fuck would anybody remake this movie, this movie makes soap operas seem thrilling. This movie should have been called THE DAY THE EARTH SUCKED DICK.

I hate that my minimum is 1 full skull, why cant I give it a half?

I expected a lot more from this film, it had to many filler scenes which is where I think the film looses its steam. Keanu was perfectly cast as Klaatu in my opinion(he acts like an alien in all his movies anyways). They should have used the Robot looking thing way more in the film, but that was like a small side story. Cool special EFX but just an ok movie.

from the trailer i thought this movie was going 2 be good. it even started off good. it felt all tense and stuff when you first saw the ufo come out of the sky and i was all like this is going 2 be good. but than the effect of the root thing just wasnt good enough and 4 me the movie completely flopped and the only thing i than liked about it was jennifer connely.

A cinematic fart-blossom!!! I nearly left the theatre half-way through it. What a waste. I sensed a little Al Gore/ Global Warming vibe as well. You know, "we caused this" & all that sorta' shit. When nature decides to change something, there's not a damn thing we can do about it. This movie sucked major asshole!!! I like the old original much better!!!

A Mess of a film that could have been something great and ive always said i hate movies that have great potential but fail in every way. not bad casting (other than the little shit kid of will smiths) and a lesson about how we treat the planet is a good story but poorly executed, i felt nothing for the characters and nothing for the storyline and the way it was all presented.

Why are all the critics and fans bashing on The day the Earth stood still? It was a really good movie. Well remake that is. It had decent special effects, a good story, and Klaatu was really good. I admit the ending was weak but who cares? I liked this movie a lot.

It was okay. I went in with really low expectations but it wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be. Keanu is only somewhat annoying but Jayden Smith is REALLY annoying. The best thing about this movie was GORT.

First off I love good sci-fi. And I'm aware that making a sequal is a risk. People have in their minds eye what the movie should be like. Even with this in mind I found the sequal to be a poor movie. The characters were shallow and with color. The plot dragged along almost aimlessly. I think that the robot had more animation than Mr. Reeves. And Kathy Bates was miscast for the sect. of defense. I felt that this movie was just another movie that they expect to fly on the special effects alone. Let me say in closing. A waste of time, money and talent. Shame on you Hollywood.

This was a terrible movie. The fact that it was a remake makes No difference to how awful it was. It was like Independence Day but without the fun action scenes which made that at least (somewhat) watchable. Will Smiths kid was fantastic in Pursuit of Happiness but I really wanted to stab him in this movie -- he was f-ing terrible. Stupid as shit the fact that Klatuu decided to change his already made-up mind over the destruction of the human race based on, i guess, one womans love for her fuckin kid??? I guess a little more then that, but Come On. If Klatuu went to Africa he would of wiped us out so fast we wouldn't know wtf is going on. And my GOD Kathy Bates?!? OMG I really wanted to stab her -- TERRIBLE choice of actress for that role. I kept expecting her to go nuts ala Misery but no such luck. Even the ONE big special effects scene with the locust bug thingies... was poorly done sci-fi channel special effects. Very very disappointed with this plot-hole covered mess of a movie. Oh and Keanu?? Perfect role for him!! No need to show emotions! yay!!

pritty good fx but the acting I wasnt so sure and I wanted to see more of the robot and I hate remakes and wasnt the girl suposed to say clato vrata necto like in the orignal?

Did I see a different movie than the rest of you? I want that 2 hours of my life back.
Aside from the horribly heavy-handed message of how horrible we as humans are. The acting was worse. From the spoiled child that immediately changed his attitude for no appearant reson. To the fact that Klaatu was never supposed to help us. He was only here to destroy us. The fact that Scott Derrickson couldn't be bothered to hire a decent military advisor. Every character was just a caricature of that person. The red-neck army guy, to the cowardly bureaucrat, to the scientist. Nothing more than an over done version of said stereo type. There were so many plot holes and flubs that I'd run out of space writing them down.

Compared to the original, Ill always like the orginal better. But the remake did not disappoint!!!
Great Ideas, and Im glad to see that Keanu didnt do a horrible job as Klatuu.
Gort is pretty intense, for the bit that you see him for, and the ending is not to disappointing, its pretty good!!
all in all, Im glad to see That they didnt botch the remake, but I'll always recomend the original b4 the remake!!!

Really good movie with nice special effects, great ending, awesome acting and directing and it felt like a steven spielberg film i cant wait to get this movie on blu when it comes out in it(The only thing i didnt liked was that fucken annoying brat of jaden smith everytime he appeared on screen i wanted him to be killed on the most violent way possible)

Good remake, considering its pg13. Worth going to theaters to see. Entertaining whole way through. This movie does its job.

Posted By: deathtiger at 4:27am, December 12, 2008

Without spoiling anything, I think this remake was successful, keeping alive what made the original such a lasting piece of science fiction. While not perfect, it's really the people that make this film come alive...but some of the effects were not entirely ready for print. But I was more than willing to look past the flaws, and I found this film to be an enjoyable movie experience.

Walk into the theater, clear any doubts you might have had just once, because I have to say the film was trusted to the right director I think. You might agree with me, but I think it's one of the better remakes.
