Not horror, not suspense, not thriller--a psych drama, and a good one. The actors got the characters right, and that really sells the movie. If you are seeking instant gratification from a "horror, gore, or whore" movie, then steer clear--this is a "MAY" style of slow burner, but with even a lot less "horror" to it. Done well, and is a good movie for different reasons.

Spiral was nothing short of genius.

The acting was amazing especially by David Joel Moore who also starred in Hatchet another of Adam Green's films.

Some might think the movie a bit slow but I see it as building a foundation and great Character development something you don't see enough in a lot of films lately. Moore plays Mason, an introverted and emotionally disturbed man who goes to work at a drab job and also leisurely loves to paint. He loves to paint beautiful women. Amber Tamblyn plays the new girl "Amber"at Mason's place of employment and she for some reason is drawn to him' after a few lunch time meetings Mason starts painting Amber when she visits his Apartment " One that holds many secrets" .

They strike up an friendship that leads to somewhat of a love affair.

This is when it all starts to unravel..

What ensues next is intense and I couldn't stop watching. The story is amazing and the ambiguous nature of some of the content is also genius because it allows us to come to our own conclusion. There is a line in the film that I can't get out of my head, It's when Mason is talking to his brother Berkley "Zackary Levi", the line is " How do you know if Their real or not?" It sounds like nothing now but watch the film and you will see. it was heart breaking and chilling all in one. This is a film that will stay with you long after you are finished watching it

A very clever psychological/thriller with one hell of a ending but be prepare to be patient with this one.

Sprial is a rare gem. Its a amazing movie with a cast that works. Its a movie by Adam Green so it always works. The plot can be hard to follow at times but the big picture is easy to see.

Ive always thought Joel David Moore had some interesting characteristics about him that would be a good psychotic character in a thriller.
This was a really good film, smarter and better than most because it's built on characters and story and not on gore or predictable plots.
This is a better put together film than Hatchet because of it's characters and originality, Hatchet will be the more popular one because of it's slasher quality.
This is one of the best and closest films to the original Psycho that I have seen.
Alot of people wont like this because they feel it will be too boring, but if you enjoy psychological thrillers this is a good one.

It's unfair to call or consider this film a "horror" movie. Honestly I wouldn't really put this in the "thriller" genre either. That being said this is one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It just goes to show you that a good script, good direction, and great performances by actors are still relevant in today's cinema.

Kinda reminded me of 'Roman' with better direction and less balls. Still, good stuff. Great second movie from Adam Green.
