I was really looking forward to watching this movie only because of the trailer (you must admit it was a good one). The firt act was promising as he's reading the book and realizing how similar it is to his life. AS the movie unfolds it just gets worse. What i was really bothered was how the main character and his wife are talking about if how he could commit murder as he feels like he could, what a load of bullshit and does nothing but create a psuedo mellow dramatic feel and comes off cheesy. the ending was real bad, like come on who didn't see that one coming.

i just got a hold of this movie the other day. i did not know jim carrey even did a thriller it was an okay movie, but it reminded me alot of the butterfly effect

Another great example of good idea's being badly executed. Tsk tsk.

This was a waste of time.Jim you better stick to comedy.

What a load of crap. Starts off decent enough, but ultimately feels like another Six Sense sort of rip off. The "twist" ending is so obvious, you beg for it to be something a LITTLE less cliche or, hell, a less cliche story period.

Poor Jim. He really is a great actor, but this most definitely should not have been his first foray into the horror genre.

Topsy Kretts? Give me a fucking break.

I saw this one a long time ago and i remember that i loved it, but i dunno if the reason for that was because my friend and i saw it in the middle of the night and we had sick-tired-weird-humor or for the actual story in the movie.

Very different, and unique, a great performance by jim carrey, someone who obviously can play an interesting villian, although not really a nasty villian in this movie, he has shades of anger and frustration and possible evil intentions that seap through him throughout the film, I found the movie interesting and mysterious, a good plot that ive never seen much of before. well done. recommended to watch at least once

Seems like a bad adaptation of a steven king novel or something. Comedy to horror? Robin Williams yes, Jim Carrey no.

this movie is really good but i still think jim should stick to comedy

i would have to say "The Number 23" is not a movie for everyone to watch. I bought this movie a couple of days ago (i made sure not to read any reviews so i could judge it for myself) and i have to say i was not disappointed. I loved dream sequences. the only flaw that this movie has is that jim carrey's performance can sometimes be very unconvincing and subpar from his other films.

This movie was so good I saw it twice in theaters. Its probly to me one of the best horror/thrillers ive ever seen. I love how Jim Carrey did such a good job in it. It had some nice twists and turns and I loved the story behind it. Awesome movie!

Next to Rob Zombie's abortion, 'Halloween', 'The Number 23' is the worst film of 2007. I have no idea why this is even on Bloody-Disgusting. Jim Carrey is grotesquely miscast, not to mention the idea for the film is dumb and excruciatingly annoying. I will say I took enjoyment out of lambasting it for every shitty line of dialogue we were subjected to in the theater. So, in essence, I view this film as a balls-out comedy. Unintentional comedy is always so embarassing for everyone involved. Puke.
