Wow. This was very, very disappointing. I was expecting a seven course meal of terror... and I got the opposite.

I truly thought I was about to watch one of the best "scary" films ever and the scary pretty much never kicked in for me. Even the last 10 minutes or so when I thought, "Okay, the rest of the movie was a big letdown, but I'm sure this ending will save it for me", and boy was I wrong. There were scenes where I honestly thought I was about to pee myself and then BLAMMO!... absolutely nothing.

The movie wasn't bad though. It's a nice horror story. The atmosphere was good and there was a nice, creepy vibe throughout the entire film, but the scaryness was close to nil for me. I probably would have found it scarier before watching all the other horror movies I've seen, but who knows.

3 skulls out of 5.

the original horror masterpiece that inspired one of the best remakes of our time...standing ovation for Nakata and Takashi!

Just amazing. It makes (just like The List said:) "it [Ringu] makes The Blair Witch Project look like a stroll in the woods".

Ringu is by far the best horror movie ever made along with Ringu part 2. Comparing it to Blair witch project (I know many people do) is plain insulting. 2 movies are nowhere near. this scares the shit out of you and this is the only movie that has truly scared and affected me (no I am not talking about cheap thrills or sudden scares but something more subliminal). Watch it if you haven't. This is far more scarier and creepier than the original.
